Summary: Eminently Realistic Story In Today's Way Of Thinking
Review: Forrest Gump is cinematic proof that great accomplishments arise from simply stumbling through life, not looking ahead or giving any thought to where you are going or what you are doing. You just sorta wake up, look around and BOOM! you achieve greatness. You don't even have to know or care what is going on around you. Thought, care, energy and judgment are all unnecessary. Isn't that wonderful?

This film's popularity stems from the fact that far too many lazy-derriered people actually do approach the world that way, hope-thinking they will simply win life's lottery and become successful/rich. The Forrest Gump tale is a variation of the Cinderella Concept, positing that fate will always step in and enable you to prevail -- so why put any effort into trying?

Forrest Gump: The Non-Thinking Man's Movie. Switch off your brain and enjoy it today.

Summary: ...you never know what you're gonna get
Review: I love, love, love this movie. Maybe I'm biased because I saw it for the first time when I was 10 with all my older cousins who loved it, and then I've seen about a zillion more times in the following 6 years. I'm 16 now. Tom Hanks is genius in this role, and it made me add him onto my list of "favorite actors." (He was good in Castaway, too.) I also love the soundtrack - all the relevant songs from the time period. The special effects that put Forrest in all those different events were impressive as well - I can't say enough! This is one of the best movies ever made.

Summary: Through The Eyes...
Review: It had been quite some time since I last saw FORREST GUMP, when I sat down recently to watch the film, I had forgotten jist how "feel good" the movie was. It is basically, a first person account, by Gump (Tom Hanks), through several decades of history. Along the way, viewers are treated to life changing events, both public and private, in Forrest's life. Director Robert Zemeckis and his crew used cutting edge (at the time ) F/X to put the title character in the midst of war, meeting Presidents, and other pivitol events. Thanks to the performances of Hanks, Robin Wright-Penn, as Jenny, and Sally Field, as Mrs. Gump, the film stays pretty grounded, despite the technical wizzardry of everything else.

As for the extras on the 2 disc set, I was somewhat disappointed, and here's why. The Group commentary by Zemeckis and others was recorded and pieced together later. Consequently, it was, at times, rather dry, since they were not in the same room for this. The 2nd commentary from producer Wendy Finerman was eaqually dry. Each one offered some interesting gems but it took quite a bit to wade through the other stuff to find them. I was suprised that most of the other features concentratrated so much on the F/X in the film, instead of the more humanistic patrs of the film. Don't get me wrong, I find that stuff more cool than most folks, I just wonder why, for a film like this, the features were still somewhat lacking.

FORREST GUMP is a good drama, that strikes a proper balance, between story and F/X. I just wish that the bonus material were presented the same way. After all, Gump is not supposed to be about that stuff anyway. Still, it has my vote, and is recommended.

Summary: Gump Rocks!
Review: I remember going to the drive-in and the theatre to see this movie and even at the young age I was, I loved it. Little did I know that I could always come back to this movie when I was in high school and needed help with history. This movie should be shown in schools like in history classes. I love the character's in the movie from Forrest, Jenny, Bubba, Lt. Dan, and Mama. Forrest has a heart of gold and its nice to see a movie that the whole family can watch. My favorite scene was the hippy scenes.

Summary: Forgot how good a movie this was
Review: My wife talked me into ordering this DVD. I wanted some other items, but she insisted. I had forgotten how good this movie is, and there is a wealth of background information about the filming and the characters in the DVD 'Special Features' section.

Tom Hanks *IS* Forrest Gump in this movie. (What a talented actor. How can he master all these different roles?) Forrest Gump is so simple on the inside that it makes you wonder why life can't be more like his character. Of course, his blind luck plays a big part in it also ;-) Sally Field is equally brilliant, and another really great actor. (well, except for that Smokey and the Bandit era).

The way that they weave Forrest into all the historic film footage is revealed in the "special features" section, which is a little movie in itself.

It's a classic, and should be part of your collection.

Summary: Instant classic!
Review: One of the first movies I ever saw in theaters, "Forrest Gump" has to be one of my favorite movies ever.
Winner of 6 Oscars including Best Picture, Actor (Tom Hanks), and Director (Robert Zemeckis), "Forrest Gump" tells the story of Forrest Gump (Hanks), a slow-witted but good-hearted young man growing up during the 50's and 60's. His life spans over many fruitful events: he teaches Elvis to dance as a child, wins the Medal of Honor in Vietnam, competes in a world-championship game of ping pong, opens a successful shrimp business in memory of a friend who died in Vietnam, and invests blindly in Apple Computers, making a fortune. He also meets three Presidents, witnesses Watergate, and runs across the country. And all this is happening while dealing with the love-of-his-life Jenny (Robin Wright), and his cancerous mother (Sally Field). Gary Sinise also gives an excellent performance as Lt. Dan, Forrest's commander in Vietnam, who turns out to be a life-long friend.

"Forrest Gump" is definitely one of the best movies ever made. Full of great acting, sharp directing, and a killer screenplay, see this movie before someone else does!

Summary: A Must-Have!
Review: This is my all time favorite movie. It has love, humor, action, adventure, tragedy, and every other genre imaginable. This film is a work of pure genius, and no wonder it has been nominated for soo many awards. I strongly urge you to get this movie as a part of your collection, as you will watch it hundreds of times. I certainly do.

Summary: Just a kind way of making fun of the handicap.
Review: I only give this movie one star cause I can't give it negative five. I saw this film as a poor excuse to make fun the handicap, having a Father that's handicap, I really didn't find much about this film to my liking. First you've got Jenny who sheilds Forrest in the beginning, shuns him through most of the picture then after realizing she's got A) no where else to turn B) that she's dying, she returns to him. his friend Bubba is slow just like him, what a crazy Idea? His Lutent Dan only really becomes his friend after he himself looses his legs! ...
