Summary: Simply one of the BEST romances of our time!
Review: One of the BEST entries of the metaphysical genre, the cinema of romantic fantasy! It'll have you believing in destiny and the one true love...is it you?! Not only a marvelous script by Richard Matheson (based on the real actress, Maude Adams) but also one of Chris and Jane's finest performances to-date (and they feel likewise)! Did you know this is one of MCA's best selling videos of all time (and John Barry's soundtrack too)? Thousands of fans from all over the world belong to INSITE, The Int'l Network of SIT Enthusiasts (somewhereintime.pair.com), and reunite with the cast & crew on Mackinac Island each year in October! With the release of similar films like "Ghost", "Forever Young", "Always", Hallmark Hall of Fame's "The Love Letter", "What Dreams May Come" (also by Richard Matheson), and "Titanic" (with a love story so similar to SIT, we think Cameron paid subtle homage to it in his script!), SIT was simply ahead of its time! Universal is now considering a major re-release for the 20th Anniversary in 2000, and a prequel is also in the works! You'll only rent this movie once...then you'll buy it and watch it forever!! Come back to me...that which you think becomes your world!!

Summary: It's about time
Review: It may not be one of the best films ever made, but I love it anyway. The scenery and costumes are beautiful...not to mention the beautiful Jane Seymour & Christopher Reeve. But what's fascinating about the movie is element of time travel. It's not that Richard (Christopher Reeves) falls in love with the woman in the picture (Jane Seymour); rather, the picture stirs a remembrance within him. Not realizing what it is at first, Richard seeks answers through research which eventually leads him to the belief that...he was there. Thus the obsession with time travel and the quest to return.

Watch for the details and the glimpses of things in the present and see the connection when he's in the past. For instance, watch his relationship with Arthur.

There are all kinds of details that I appreciate about the movie. Notice the view from Miss McKenna's room at the beginning of the movie and compare that with the view from Mr. Collier's room at the end. Notice the use of camera angle, lighting and furniture (namely the fabric) to transition Richard from the present to the past.

Probably the most disappointing thing about the movie is the ending. But as a hopeless romantic, it's none-the-less a favorite movie.

Summary: Much more than a movie....
Review: I've thought about what I could say in this review to convey my true feelings for this film but it's very hard to put into words. This movie touched me when I saw it for the first time during a very difficult time in my life. For those with sensitive hearts, we all have something in life that we hold dear to us as a reminder of hope and love... whether it be a picture, a piece of jewelry, etc. For me, I carry the spirit of this movie with me, that's how powerful it has been in my life.

Can I explain it? Probably not. Will some think I'm fanatical or a little crazy in the head? Perhaps, but believe me I'm a very rational person. I love this movie.

To those who have not yet seen this movie, please don't try to critique the acting performances or the storyline if you watch it. This is not a movie for detailed criticism. Why? Because it's already been criticized enough. We've heard it all before. If you don't like it because it's too romantic or far fetched then that's understandable... this movie isn't for you. This movie was made for a different kind of audience, and audience that doesn't care about Hollywood stars, special effects, or big budget hype. It's a love story, pure and simple, told in a very beautiful way. Let your guard down and let this movie take a hold of you. You might be surprised where you go.

Oh, and if that's not enough, the musical score to the film is STUNNINGLY gorgeous. John Barry is a master or bringing emotion to every scene and touching us where we are softest.

Skeptical? Just think about how much an open mind can reveal.

Fans of the film will certainly appreciate the 1 hour documentary on the making of the movie which is very extensive and informative.

Summary: MY ALL TIME FAVORITE MOVIE
Review: SOMEWHERE IN TIME IS MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE MOVIE OF ALL TIME. IT IS A PERFECT BLEND OF ULTRA ROMANTIC STORY LINE, LOCATION, CAST, AND DIRECTION. I COULD WATCH THIS MOVIE OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND NEVER GET TIRED OF IT (AND USE AT LEAST 1/2 BOX OF TISSUES EACH TIME). REEVE AND SEYMOUR WERE COLLIER AND MCKENNA AND PLUMMER WAS SUPERB AS MCKENNA'S OVERPROTECTIVE GUARDIAN. THE LOCATION WAS PERFECT AND THE MOVIE AS A WHOLE REALLY MADE ME WISH I COULD GO BACK IN TIME TO EXPERIENCE SUCH SERENE BEAUTY. IT ALSO HAD JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF COMIC RELIEF. I MUST ALSO MENTION THAT I LOVED THE MOVIE SO MUCH THAT I NAMED MY DAUGHTER AFTER SEYMOUR'S CHARACTER, ALTHOUGH I SPELLED IT DIFFERENTLY, MY DAUGHTER'S NAME IS MAKENNA AND IF I HAVE ANOTHER GIRL, HER NAME WILL BE ELISE...I'VE EVEN CONSIDERED COLLIER FOR A BOY. I ALSO HAD MY HAIR STYLED LIKE SEYMOUR'S CHARACTER'S FOR MY WEDDING DAY AND I WOULD LOVE TO SPEND AN ANNIVERSARY AT THE GRAND HOTEL ON MACKINAK ISLAND, MICHIGAN. I WOULD RECOMMEND YOU GO OUT AND BUY A BOX OF TISSUES, GET THIS MOVIE, CURL UP ON THE COUCH AND ENJOY.

Summary: The Romance of What Might Have Been....
Review: "Somewhere In Time" does not boast great acting, particularly from Mr. Reeve, but what it does do is remind us of our losses and how they can tug at your heart throughout your life. This film is about love - and not especially just romantic love. We all would like to have 5" with someone we have lost, to tell them how much we love them. We would like that chance to go back and perhaps do or say things differently. This surely must exist in a small place in the corner of all our hearts, and this film finds that corner.
I would like to have seen someone more convincing in the lead role, but Reeve does his best and Seymour is the epitome' of beautiful femininity, as always. It is visually and musically lush (a more romantic soundtrack could not have been found). It is also nice to see Christopher Plummer and Teresa Wright in supporting roles. If you are a romantic, this film will haunt you - and remind you of the best part of your lost love....

Summary: Haunting, romantic and sublime!
Review: "Somewhere in time" is one of the most romantic love-stories ever written and made into a movie. A love that defies time itself. It presents us with a vision that the one you're supposed to love and be loved by IS out there, even beyond time itself. It is one of the most intense fantasies ever. So many reviewers already gave a synopsis, so let me get straight to what I think is the heart of the movie. This movie is a fairy tale with a message on love. People either accept it happily or sneer, the latter I find to be sad. This movie gives us young Jane Seymour, the goddess of mini-series as the leading lady. This is perhaps one of the most beautiful women ever, today she is still incredibly beautiful at 50+. Her chemistry with Chris Reeve is absolutely thrilling. But here the MUSIC is like a first rate actor too, I find it to be the most romantic film-music ever written, together with the music from "Gone with the wind" and "The Thorn Birds". This movie and novel will be cherished as long as women love and men care.

Summary: One of the greatest love stories ever...
Review: I saw this movie the first time when it first came out about 20 years ago. I never forgot it and how it made me feel - such deep passion and heart wrenching love. I had a bad copy of it on VHS so I was thrilled when I found out that this DVD was coming out. I bought it immediately and watched it over and over. Then I watched the special features and just fell in love with the movie all over again. It was awesome seeing the characters describe what they felt making the movie, the little bits of trivia, etc. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone who loves a good love story.

Summary: SUCKS
Review: OK, my mom was like, "Hey, Jon, can we watch this?" So I was like,"Sure mom, just for you I will, even though I hate chick flicks." So we watched and it figures my mom falls asleep, so i got stuck watching it. I'll be honest it wasn't bad, until the end. It just ruins the whole movie and I couldn't believe how it turned out. I wanted to smash my TV it sucked that bad. Don't watch it, it's wasting your life. I'm not kidding. I know all you girls are like,"Oh he is ,like, a boy ,like, I can't believe ,like, he doesn't ,like, understand!" But I do and trust me ,don't watch it. But if you do watch it, you will agree with me(except for you select few that thought it was good). Let this one pass.

Summary: Absolute Magic
Review: I don't have to think twice that this would be most serene and charming Love Story ever made.
I even liked it more than the Love Story and Titanic itself because it didn't have a hint of commercial cinema in it.
A simple movie with the Most Beautiful actress Jane Seymour and Reeve is just unbelievable in his acting.
Theme Music is just out of this world and everything about the Movie makes Magic. Whoever took Seymour's photo for the movie has made total magic and anyone would find glued to that Photo just like Reeve does in the movie.
This movie will take you back in time!!!
