Summary: Very Interesting Movie
Review: I am not in the target audience and did not expect to see this movie, just picked it up for my daughter. However, I found this film to be very good, especially the performance of Freddie Prinze (Ryan) and Clarie Forlani (Jennifer). The way they play the changes in feelings between them is well acted and interesting. The dance scene is outstanding and really puts you into the film. I purchased the film after renting it I enjoyed so much--not something I normally do.

Clarie provides an outgoing personality that plays very well with Freddie's quiet character who's feelings warm to a roast as the movie reaches its love scene. The final scene is the movie's peak and as well done as any I have enjoyed.

The first level of the movie is standard boy meets girl. But below the surface are two individuals that have many conflicting emotions. This was well played by Freddie when at a party he asks if his "sis" wants to leave. Claire, the sis, is involved with a guy and wants to stay. This scene shows how Freddie both wants her to follow, he rescued her from another guy earlier and subconsciencely hopes to do it again to be with him, and having to wait for her to really take notice of him and not knowing how to show her, since they are "just friends." He also turns down another girl at the same party before he trys his "rescue."

The other two main characters, Amy and Steve, contrast well against Ryan and Jennifer showing youth confusion on self identity in a way that lets you enjoy Ryan and Jennifer but not tire of their predictable growing relationship. (We know at the start what should happen by the end of the movie.) Amy and Steve also show in a "louder" way what it is like to find identity, something Ryan and Jennifer must do if they are to get together.

I enjoyed this movie for the acting, character chemistry, interesting use of a character bringing the audience into her experience (Jennifer's music man break-up) and the many emotions considered through out the film, and finally the fun the characters showed in trying to deal with their lifes together.

Summary: Claire Forlani Steals The Show
Review: I actually rented this movie "accidentally," and I must say I was quite impressed by Claire Forlani. I had never seen her before this movie and, while the movie's plot isn't exactly deep or innovative, Claire's performance as Jennifer was evidence that she has a special "magic" and screen presence. I enjoyed the rented movie so much that I bought the DVD!

Summary: Surprisingly totally enjoyable
Review: I think this movie can be enjoyed by any age group. I was totally surprised by how good this movie was. Freddie Prinze, Jr. and Claire Forlani have excellent chemistry between the two. Movie execs would be wise to pair these two together in another movie. They worked extremely well together. They both had a naturalness toward each other. Great Movie! This review is coming from someone who hesitated to rent this movie because I was much older than the target audience.

Summary: Good movie!
Review: I loved this movie. While I'm older than the target audience, I was totally entertained. The dance scene was the highlight of the movie! My husband even enjoyed this movie and that's saying a lot since he only likes action/bloody movies.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: It's very entertaining
Review: I wasn't expecting much from this movie but I really liked it. I'm not even in my teens so I can't be the "target audience"...but what can I say, it's very entertaining and I loved it.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Brilliant bold and sophisticated movie!
Review: Incredibly good mix of feelings and conceptions. Perfect Golden Gate Bridge as symbol of planning and human reason, "doing laundry together" as symbol of the "same experience", which gives birth to "true love" despite numerous abstractions holding us as "seat-belts", - all they also play the roles in this movie. But it is great Claire Forlani and Freddie Prince Jr., as well as Jason Biggs, Amanda Detmer and others, who bring real life to all these productive schemes. There are also strong culmination points here, and final scene with plane (I do not mean post scriptum) perfectly visually focuses the main idea of the movie: love above all artificial constructions of human understanding. Instant classic.

Summary: DVD description
Review: Well, I'm writing this mostly because no one seems to mention anything specific about the DVD format but also because some people gave this movie 5 stars! Even though everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I think giving this movie a perfect score is really misleading and absolutely false. I would give it 1 star just to bring those 5 star ratings to a more realistic overall rating but that would be cheating.

So. 1 star would be so horrible that I had to stop watching the movie so I'll give 2 stars for the redeeming qualities of Claire Forlani and the popularity of Freddie Prinze Jr. and maybe Biggs' off beat humor. It bugged me that Prinze Jr. or Forlani would 'take a walk' and end up next to the Golden Gate Bridge as if UC Berkeley had the San Francisco Bay on campus (but I didn't dock points off for that--just know that UC Berkeley isn't THAT beautiful)! But -3 stars for the poorly written script and under-developed DVD and maybe Biggs' off beat humor (yeah it was both good and bad).

The DVD has no options to speak of--no director commentaries, no deleted scenes, no biographies/filmographies only some trailers for other movies. They did have Spanish subtitles but no music video as described in the "edition detail" here (I'm not sure if it was just the copy I viewed, did anyone else notice this?) I don't recommend buying this unless you're a collector or a Forlani/Prinze Jr. fanatic. It's NOT a good date movie unless you think it'll be so uninteresting that your date will want to make out, but maybe okay as a party movie since no one really watches them. Plus there is the novelty of the Blair Witch actress Heather Donahue in a very brief appearance. If you're looking to buy this as a gift, I think teenage/pre-teen girls liked the movie but no one else.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: GREAT date movie, Claire Forlani is fantastic.
Review: Not into too many "chick flicks" but if this is one that is deemed "chick-flick" material then my opinion on chick flicks has changed. This is a great DVD to have for a second or third date, "the let's rent a movie and have dinner date".

What's good:

Claire Forlani: Seldom has there been a better match between actress and medium. That face was made for television. It's incredibly expressive: she can depict powerful emotions with just the twitch of a lip or the blink of those eyes. She can lead you anywhere.

Jason Biggs: Yeah, he's funny in this movie too.

Freddy Prinze Jr.: Dare I say it, he will looks to be the Cary Grant of our generation.

Scenary:

The Golden Gate Bridge backdrop, excellent. The college environment is portrayed farily well. What's Not so good:

Ok, this movie is predictable, but then again so are are all the other great date movies, (When Harry met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle, You've got mail, etc.) Sure you know that Freddy and Forlani will get together, you just do not know when and how. When it does happen though, the viewer can feel the electricity leading up to it.

Wish that some more time was spent on Jason Biggs, but I guess there is a reason why he is listed as a "supporting actor".

Final recommendation:

Worth viewing with your special someone, not as bad as people make the movie out to be.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Predictable
Review: Ok I saw this movie because the hottie himself Freddie was in it. My friend saw this movie and told me it was OK...so I decided to see it. I rented it only a few days ago and thought the movie was cute yet .....VERY predictable....If it weren't for Freddie I would never have seen it. If you like predictable and Freddie then maybe you should check this out.
