Summary: A Genuine Sleeper
Review: Unfortunatly this movie came and went from the theaters faster than you can blink. It was certainly one of the best movies of the year. I only hope the poor box office performance will not effect Jake Kasdan's promising career.

Summary: excellent
Review: I don't know about actual fans of the genre, but this is the first mystery movie i've seen in a long time that i've actually enjoyed. Ben Stiller was great and it featured Bill Pullman's only great, and well acted, role in a career of pointless facial expressions and poorly delivered dialogue. You must check this film out. MUST.

Summary: Intelligent, funny and engaging. Original and well-made.
Review: This is a great underrated and under-recognized movie. The movie was written and directed by young first-time director Jake Kasdan. Zero Effect has an excellent ensemble cast led by Bill Pullman as Darly Zero genious private detective, detached and objective, sometimes too detached. Ben Stiller is Zero's unappreciated agent, public face and Watson. Kim Dickens manages to pull off the impossible role of the 90's woman who is strong, adept, sexy, intelligent and approachable. Ryan O'Neal is perferct as the aging jock exec who is being blackmailed. This is a well crafted movie in every repect form the graphics and music in the opening credits to the exquisitely shot final scene where great writing, acting, cinematography and music are combined with sensitivity and authority to form a work of art

Summary: Dated plot
Review: The trick used in this movie is classic and dated, like Agatha Christie's murder mysteries. Speaking of performances, Ben Stiller is very good as usual. But, is Bill Pullman trying to imitate young Michael Douglas? His character should have been much more explored in terms of acting. Also you will see why Ryan O'neal ("Love Story") cannot get the lead in Hollywood movie any more.

Summary: Wonderful take on a modern Sherlock Holmes.
Review: This is what Sherlock Holmes would have been if he were a modern detective. Great acting performances by all the cast. Hillarious lines. The DVD has director commentary by the first time movie director. It shows from the performances he gets out of his actors that the director is an old hand at play direction. Other than the star actors, all other extras were locals.

Summary: Worth Watching if its Raining Outside.
Review: This movie had a some, albeit few, moments of brain stimulation. Not a bad film, not a good film. I thought the best acting in the movie was provided by the femme fatale leading charactor. Zero was pretty much just that a Zero. His Dr. Watson, sidekick was, well ok. An average film, nothing special about the video or audio. Don't buy it, rent it.

Summary: One of the worst films of the year.
Review: This film has got to win a prize as one of the most pretentious pieces of garbage ever made. The characters have been designed to plug in to the audience's expectations without any actual attempt at giving them depth. The entire film consists of a series of phony plot points designed to allow the characters to exhibit ridiculous behavior that is supposed to be hip and sophisticated. As a result this film exists as a superficial piece of junk, as obviously the director was too frightened to create any real dramatic tension using emotion and logic, instead relying on stylistic posturing and hollow dialogue. Don't waste your time.

Summary: GREAT MOVIE!!!!!
Review: Need I say more??? It's kind of like "The Usual Suspects" but on the more humorous side. Check it out.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: delicious mystery with comedy and romance
Review: I loved this movie. I rented it last night and now I'm going to buy it. The plot is full of wonderful twists, yet none of them seem too outrageous. The plot doesn't overwhelm the characters. It's a real mystery, but with plenty of humor and irony, and even a touch of romance. Pullman plays Zero as a cross between Sherlock Holmes, Howard Hughes, and Elvis, but yet pulls it off beautifully, and Stiller is great, too. The movie does have a few minor flaws. The sound track was a bit disappointing, but that's a quibble. I can't think of a mystery to match it.

Summary: This movie cries out for a series.
Review: This is a truly great detective story. Bill Pullman and Ben Stiller are both incredible. I have watched this movie more than once, and when I have nothing else to watch, it goes in. Funny, fresh, and engrossing, this movie has it all. I highly recommend it. This movie (and the characters) are so good that it needs a series of films. I would buy every one.
