Summary: A very moving picture
Review: I watched this movie on the independent film channel one night and throughly enjoyed it. It was a very moving picture that really catches you off guard. I liked how the friendship between the two main characters developed thoughout the movie. I would reccomend anyone to rent this movie.

Summary: Refreshing - Not Bland at All
Review: I watched this movie one night when I couldn't go to sleep for one reason or another. I never heard about it before and I was not expecting much when I began viewing. However, I became totally engrossed in the movie. It was truly fantastic. It may not have had action, but it had meaning, it was touching, and it was funny. I think the reason some call this movie "bland" and "unoriginal" is that the ultimate moral of the story is fairly obvious: Don't let society and your self-imposed rules inhibit your enjoyment of life and appreciation of the people around you. The idea may be simple and cliched, but the movie expresses this idea in such a heartfelt manner that the simple moral lesson is argued in a powerful way. I recommend this movie strongly.

Summary: Delightful. Quixotic! Sam's a puckish treat.
Review: In this world of awareness of our aging and where all that has gone before gets us, this is a one-stop whirl back to basics. Tom DiCillo has a strong grasp on where each of us needs to be headed but loses sight of all too quickly in our professional quests. Though family seems to take a backseat during much of John Tuturo's counter-circling to get to Splatchee Lake, and, unknowingly, to an understanding of his own mortality, Sam Rockwell's Bucky, gets him there in perfect condition. His Oreo cookie breakfast, and unassuming lifestyle will stay in your heart forever. A truly sweet Indie. Buy it.

Summary: so crisp it will make you crave fresh air and a fresh start
Review: Inspirational. I stumbled upon "Box of Moon Light" at around 2:00am one night while flipping through the TV channels. John Turturro's character subtly but steadily drew my interest. Later I was laughing outloud. Let go of all your expectations and let these characters tell you their story- it is, without a doubt, worthwhile.

Summary: Funny, touching, unpredictable, brilliant.
Review: John Turturro is the kind of heinously underrated actor who always seems to play second-fiddle to someone much more famous than him. Here, he gets a chance to play the lead in Tom DiCillo's glorious follow-up to the brilliant "Living In Oblivion". The acting is brilliant, and the story (while not, perhaps, the greatest or most original story ever told - midlife crisis victim abandons uptight self to play with "inner child" and new friend) is quietly involving. It also features some spectacularly unpredictable moments, and an ending that is gloriously unsentimental and open to interpretation. This is the kind of film you could end up sitting until 5 o'clock in the morning discussing, and is all the better for it.

Summary: blah, blah
Review: Light hearted feel gooder from DiCillo. Some interesting moments, but mostly leaves viewer wanting more. Turturro is good as usual. Check out Keener as an insecure backwoods hick, far from her usual angst-ridden Manhattan hottie (but yummy all the same.) Her performance alone is worth a look.

Summary: Wonderful Character Adventure
Review: Most people I know do not understand the superlatives I love hurling at this movie, but I just love it! I get a fellowshippy, warm feeling every time I watch it, anxious to walk right out the front door ready to embrace any encounter I may have and just run with it, or at least stroll. FYI, if you've even been forced to sit thru any "freeze frames" involving Jamie Lee Curtis or the likes thereof, there's payback to be had in the scene where John T. steps out of the shower if you "freeze" it just right!

Summary: Tuturro and Rockwell as Abbott and Costello!
Review: One of the best parts of this DVD is the comentary. Five years in the making, with Rockwell thinking through his part, Turturro working with a broken toe and unable to swim but doing his dive anyway. Just adds to the wonder of it! Turturro and Rockwell are the perfect foils for each other. And the characters are so weird but so real! Check out Sam Rockwell's Lawn Dogs DVD as well. Another engaging performance!
