Summary: Murphy Takes a Star Turn in this one and in Boomerang
Review: When this movie first came out, I thought it was the greatest comedy I had ever seen. Indeed it has the rare blend of humor, engaging (if overt) plot, good writing, and a message. Furthermore, it was the first time that Eddie Murphy moved away from the slapstick crazy man antics that had made him famous, to a more serious toned (cerebral, if you will) humor. He did it again in an even better film, Boomerang, which did not fare so well with the critics but was also hailed as a masterwork by his true fans who understood that what Murphy had achieved in these two films was a truer, more refined good time than one can get with pratfalls, penis jokes, and funny faces. I watched these two films years after they were made and they still hold up as very funny, very deep, and thus in my book, very great. Try watching the Golden Child or Beverly Hills Cop 3 again and you'll see how great these two movies are. Here are some things to look for if you are watching Coming to America for the first time. (1) Arsenio as the preacher lusting after the beauty pageant contestants in his sermon: lots of great lines in his monologue, but the best is "Hugh Hefner-a, Larry Flint-a, they can take a picture-a, but only Goddddd-a can make it"--referring to the girls' bikini clad booties. (2) Eddie Murphy (in make-up) as the Jewish barber shop customer comparing Ali to Marciano. (3) The Prince and his bathers. (4) The McDonald's vs McDoogle's jokes. This film rocks big time.

Summary: DONT WATCH THE TRAILERES FIRST!
Review: rule number one about this movie, is DONT WATCH THE TRAILERS FIRST! they give away ALL the funny parts! this is an extremely funny movie! eddie murphy and arsenio hall at their best! what a great life this prince has: beautiful naked BLACK girls that bathe you! and a luxuriuous life. anyways besides the black naked girls, this movie is extremely funny! espeicially how the "prince" doesnt know much about the american language. but if u watch the trailer first, on dvd, then it will make the movie not funny anymore. this movie is even better than eddie murphy's newer videos, well exception of the Dr.Dolittle movies.

this is a great movie, and i personally, took this movie to mind, and thought HEY, this is a good way to check if a girl is a GOLD DIGGER before you ask them out! Pretending to be poor instead of pretending to be rich, an EXCELLENT idea! this movie made me laugh through out the whole movie. and i especially like the part when they talked about boxers, that was funny.

Summary: So Cliche, So Funny!~
Review: I have probably seen this movie a hundred times and I STILL laugh!~ There are so many one-liners for you movie buffs. If you just want to laugh, and are not looking for "the bottom line" this is a great movie!~ Language may be a bit strong for young children but over all a good family movie!~

Summary: Funny Movie.
Review: I think this is a very funny movie starring Eddie Murphy. I especially like the part where they didn't call it Mcdonald's but I think it was McDowell's or something like that, I thought that was hilarious. This movie was released in 1988 and made pretty good money at the box office. The DVD is okay but should have included deleted scenes those are my personal favorite on DVDs. All in all buy it but don't be too impressed by the DVD it is lacking.

Summary: Has all of the Elements!!!
Review: I love this movie so much that I'm buying the DVD to replace my VHS tape. I watched it again, last weekend and the sound quality was terrible (ON THE VHS!!) so I decided it was time to buy the DVD.

This movie touches all of your emotions. It's a love story, it's adventurous, it's funny.....no, hilarious. Eddie Murphy is great in his many roles. He is so very creative.

In some past movies, the language was "slightly out of context and not needed" in my opinion. Although there is profanity, it fits the characters (stereotypical) to a tee. What else would you expect a Queens barber to say!!!

My wife and I thoroughly enjoy this movie. I'll probably have to watch it again when I get my DVD!!! Enjoy

Summary: What do ya know from funny you bastid.......
Review: The famous ending scene wraps up this masterpiece film beautifully. This movie has everything and most of it is played by Eddie or Arsenio.

How does a spoiled rich prince fare working at a New York McDonald's ripoff (McDowell's)? Quite well, he gets the girl, gets employee of the month and kicks the greazy headed Soul Glo King to the curb.

Seriously this is Eddie's best movie. This flick is a laugh a minute. From the My-T Barber shop, to Eddie singing Dione Warwick hits, to Senior Pastor Arsenio as a wild eyed, crazed preacher man.

They don't make them this funny anymore.
