Rating: Summary: Brigadoon Review: Ah, Brigadoon. What can I say about this one? It was an excellent film, I don't care what anybody says. Brigadoon is a town in Scotland that comes to life just once every 100 years. Gene Kelly and Van Johnson are Jeff and Tommy, hunters who get lost and are looking for some food and a place to stay. Then they see Brigadoon. Van Johnson was just hilarious as Jeff, the cynical guy who just can't bring himself to believe that all this craziness is really taking place. Gene Kelly portrays Tommy, a guy who falls in love with Fiona (brilliantly portrayed by Cyd Charisse). He has to make a decision at the end of the day, whether he wants to go back to New York and leave Fiona and Brigadoon behind forever, or stay with Fiona and leave New York forever. A difficult decision for anyone to have to make. Just a wonderful romance with some beautiful dance routines. Go to the movie store and buy it. If you like romance/musicals, you won't be disappointed.

Rating: Summary: Very Charming Indeed Review: Although it may not be the most realistic film, I really enjoyed this musical. The first time I ever saw it was in in January 1980 when I was only 8 years old . My grandfather and I watched it and I have cherished it since. I think it is a good story showing that love crosses all boundaries.
Rating: Summary: Magnificent! Review: Brigadoon brings the viewer on a journey that challenges the imagination. It is still ingrained in my memory after viewing the original version in 1954. Splendid and memorable!
Rating: Summary: Charmed. Review: BRIGADOON is a charming less well-known Lerner and Loewe musical about two Americans on a hunting trip in Scotland. The two yanks get lost looking for birds in the Highlands and happen upon the quaint little village of Brigadoon, a town that appears not to have changed for hundreds of years. Gene Kelly stars as Tommy, the American who falls for the beautiful bonny lass, Fiona (Cyd Charisse). The film is full of wonderful dance numbers revolving around these two; after all they were two of America's finest dancers. Van Johnson also stars as Tommy's comical best friend, Jack. Johnson steals just about every scene he's end and that's without doing much dancing. The theme of the show is that love can conquer all, even in an enchanted place such as Brigadoon. Until another time and another place.
Rating: Summary: Well worth the time! Review: Brigadoon is a wonderful story about a town that sleeps most of the time, and only wakes up for one day every hundred years. If you think about it, the one day that they are awake through the hundred years is just like the next day to them, much as it would seem to us. The couples that are married in Brigadoon were married a lot longer than anyone else on this world ever was or will be. I have watched this movie since I was little, and I still love it. Gene Kelly is still my favorite singer/dancer, and Cyd Charisse is lovely and gracefull as she always is. Van Johnson is amusing as Kelly's hunting companion who would rather be home than in this rather weird little village. The dancing and singing during the "Go Home With Bonnie Jean" number is really something to see, and Tommy and Fionna's little number "Heather on the Hill is romantic and, as I said, graceful. This is something you can't afford to miss. A movie this good only comes once every hundred years!
Rating: Summary: The most magical musical ever Review: Brigadoon is my most favourite musical of all time not only is the dancing great but the singing is just fantastic.Gene Kelly is an exellent Tommy and Cyd Charisse deserved to play Fiona. Brigadoon is about two American travelers who get lost in the highlands of bonnie scotland. They decied to rest for a bit then they see a small village which is not on the map. They decied to explore it and hopefully rest for the night. When they get there they notice that every one in the village are wearing funny clothes.Things really turn weird when a man at a stall will not accept modern scottish money. This is because Brigadoon is a village which only comes to life every 100 years. As the storey unfolds Tommy realises that he loves Fiona and she also loves him,but there is one problem.Tommy is already engaged! He then realises that he must go back to New York but once there he changes his mind to go back to Scotland even though he knows that Fiona will not be there because she will be asleep for 100 years but does she wake up? To find out you will have to watch it.
Rating: Summary: ho hum Review: Considering the villagers had only had 'the miracle' going for two days (in their eyes), they seem mighty scared of strangers and set in their ways. Not a very believable premise, but a pleasant diversion of a movie.
Rating: Summary: A sweet little musical whose power sneaks up on you. Review: Given the tone of many comments here, I wish I'd seen the stage version of this first; it's apparently been restaged for the screen. That said, the film does have its merits: music by Lerner & Lowe, a fine cast of performers (Van Johnson is particularly effective as a wisecracking cynic who, nevertheless, still manages a pleasant soft-shoe with Gene Kelly), and a lighter-than-air book & story. Regarding Kelly and Cyd Charisse (a symphony of beauty here), they are fine; my only complaint is that they dance more apart than together. Beautiful as "The Heather on the Hill" is, it's the only complete duet with them (a reprise of the same dance comes at the end of their courtship, but it barely lasts 60 seconds). Charisse is gorgeous with her future bridesmaids in the number "Waitin' For My Dearie," and Kelly is superb with buddy Johnson and the locals in "I'll Go Home With Bonnie Jean." When the main plot point is finally explained away in roughly five minutes of the second hour, the fairy tale suddenly becomes more powerful- and therefore more poignant. The sound stage interiors have never bothered me, as most musicals were shot in studios; so I've never understood why so many people are using that fact as fodder to criticize this movie. The plot is lushly romantic and, as someone else noted, all romantics will love this one, warts and all.
Rating: Summary: BRIGADOON Review: Great entertainment for the whole family. Everything Scotland and th Scots are supposed to be like is in here. The music is memorable. All you have to do is believe for a while that there could be a Brigadoon.
