Summary: A good video transfer, except...
Review: Where is the scene with Melanie and Rhett at the death of Bonnie? Mammy and Melanie are shown speaking of Rhett's refusal to bury Bonnie, but where is the scene where Melanie convinces Rhett to finally bury the dead Bonnie?

Summary: I saw the orginal film version and wept over it.
Review: Would like to see the VHS video of "Gone with the Wind" The orginal film version was a marvelous document (film), and I was just in my eary teens at that time.

Summary: best motion picture ever
Review: It is the most breathtaking movie that I have seen in a long time and I really believe that it deserves 5 stars

Summary: "Franckly my dear I don't give a damn"
Review: Gone With the Wind was a daring romance of it's time that changed the movie business for life, and today is a legand. This movie introduces us to Scarlet and her care-free world, which is destroyed by war. This is a good movie for anyone who has taste, and Gone With the Wind will always set the standard for good movie making.

Summary: Classic film but not fully digitally remastered
Review: GWTW is a classic and well worth having in your library on DVD. However, its much touted digital release left much to be desired. While the picture was great and will last a lifetime on DVD as opposed to VHS, the 5.1 Dolby track offers little more than just a center channel. Even with the center channel cut back and all other speakers boosted all the way, the digital surround is very disappointing to the point of why did they even bother? For all intents and purposes, it's just mono from the center.

Also, the included book shows a screen shot with many extras that never actually made it to the disc. What's up with that?

I thought maybe I got a defect, but I see similar comments from others. Nevertheless, it's a must have.

Summary: Wait for the Letterboxed Version
Review: For such a great film... Why did'nt they release this in a widescreen edition, as it original theatrical release. I will certainly purchase the "Collector's Edition" when it comes out.

Summary: This is such a captivating movie.
Review: I love this movie so much. It portrays life during the Civil War so well. It is a long movie, but you lose track of the time while watching it. I love the love story in it and the fickle character of Scarlett O'Hara. Clark Gable is so wonderful as Rhett Butler, I can't imagine anyone else playing him. If you haven't seen this movie, you should. It is such a classic.

Summary: Even BETTER transfer than laser disk!
Review: I've bought every version of GWTW (VHS, laser, and now DVD), and this new one is the BEST! Just to be sure, I got out my laser version (CAV) and compared it. The DVD wins hands down. One particular example really stands out for me--that scene at the Atlanta bazaar has the most beautiful Technicolor I can remember.

It IS disappointing that there are no extras, other than the trailer and the enclosed booklet, but that can be forgiven for the most wondrous COLOR. Too bad they don't use real Technicolor in movies anymore.

This DVD deserves an honored place in one's library!

Summary: Spectacular, Beautiful, Wonderful Transfer
Review: What a great story. Beautifully transferred, with surround sound I felt I was there when Atlanta burned, and with DVD was able to really see it all, too. Low on extras, were they forgotten? but who cares - the movie was great. Colors are supurb. Have read the book several times, now I want to re-read it after seeing this DVD. Liked intermission - break for whatever- could hardly wait to get back to the movie.

Summary: A part of our history, A wonderful movie of all times...
Review: The actors cannot ever be replaced from the original movie. I LOVE this movie more than any other movie I have ever seen, I guess because you can really see a lot of the truth in it. When Scarlett says, I'll worry about it tomorrow, thats her way of dealing with the pain of Rhett leaving. To survive this is the way you must think or else you would go insane. So much emotion involved in this movie. There will never be another "GONE WITH THE WIND"......
