Review: In college, my best friend talked me into watching the movie and doing a report on it for him. I could barely stand to watch it all. And several months ago when I saw that the AFI had selected it the number 1 American film of all time, I was stunned. Who are these people? I know Citizen Kane is partly based on a real person's life, but the plot totally sucked. The acting wasn't great either. Everyone talks about the cinematography, well I wasn't even impressed with that, though I suppose back when it was release it was something.

Review: This was really one of the most risk taking films ever made. Orsan Wells went against all odds to get this put into the theater, taking on one of the most powerful men in america. The film was made in 1941 but looks like it could have been made in the 90's. this film will truly stand the test of time.

Review: The only reason I wanted to finish the movie is to get the answer to the mystery of Rosebud. While the film was a decent portrayal of a complex psychological character, I found High Noon more compelling in its complex psychology. While its cinematography was interesting, it didn't rise to the level of, say, Casablanca. In short, I found the movie to be mediocre at best, and I will probably avoid seeing it again.

Review: I've seen this movie at least 15 times, and every time the same giddy feeling of being a part of something special is still there. There have been so many things said about this movie, that it is difficult to find something new to say. I can categorically say this is the best movie ever made. The stress should be put on best movie . There have been better actors, betters screenplays, better musical scores, really the one thing that this movie has that nothing else can even touch is the cinematography. Certainly the other aspects are of such a high level that they propel the film to be the best all around piece of cinema ever rendered. Welles has the perfect part for himself, and Joseph Cotton and the rest combine to make one of the most talented casts ever. The very fact that it has been over 50 years since this movie was made, and it was still named #1 on the AFI Top 100 list is testament to the unrelenting goodness of this film

Review: The first time you see Citizen Kane, it's like going on a roller coaster ride. You get off, and you're a little dazed and confused-yet you know it's the greastest thing you'll ever expereience. Simply put, this was one of the best movies ever made, with an excellent cast (i.e. Orson Welles, Joseph Cotten). I can't say any more than, if you have never seen this movie before, you're missing out on one of the grestest experiences in theater history.

Review: This is simply the greatest American film ever made. While it is an unforgettable movie experience the first time around, it still continues to fascinate on the 20th viewing. I cannot think of another film which so challenges the viewer time and time again. I still pick up little nuances, incredible effects and camara angles, and overlapping dialog on subsesquent showings. Gregg Toland's camerawork is justifiably among the most memorable in film (for example, check earlier films to see how many times a ceiling in a room was ever shown). And while Welles is known more for his direction, he gives one of the great motion picture performances. The fact that this classic garnered only one Academy Award will be a blot on the industry for all time. Favorite scenes: the opening "March of Time" sequence, the montage of a failed marriage, the famous speech in the assembly hall, the reception for the newly hired "Chronicle" staff, and the final tracking shot over the crates leading to one the most memorable images in cinema. I envy those who will see it for the first time.
