Review: Yes this movie is amazing I just love the ending it is so original. I can not believe this film and to think Orson Welles was only like 26 when he made this movie. Maybe some people think this movie is boring, it is not exciting that is for sure but you can't expect that when watching. I love when the globe falls down the stairs and breaks. Unfortunatly I already knew what rosebud was because of a Simpsons episode. I am only 16 and I really like this movie. I don't know why it is not made for DVD. I am wandering how this ranks in the world's top 100 movies. This movie is the definition of a 5 star movie. The dialog is amazing the acting is amazing the directing is amazing. It is amazing. I don't know what to say about the outstanding film except it lives up to the legend.

Review: Approaching Welles' work from a literary perspective, _Citizen Kane_ is most stunning not so much for its actual script as for the utter uniqueness of its genre. Welles' great genius lay, I believe, not so much in crafting a subtle a striking exposition of human ignorance so much as in doing so entirely outside the bounds of conventional storytelling.In this way, I think Welles truly was Coleridge's twentieth-century successor. His originality cannot be understated. And for that reason, _Citizen Kane_ is not nearly as accessible as most other movies. By artistically (and I think successfully) refusing the restrictions of commonality, Welles dangerously risked alienating viewers. I find the opinion that _Citizen Kane_ is virtually inscruptable to be perfectly fair, and would go so far as to say that I don't think anyone can know it entirely. Like a good book, _Citizen Kane_ has as many meanings as it has viewers.

Review: Film historians have called this one of the most important films of all time. Film critics call it the best film ever made. The AFI called it the #1 American movie, of the more than 20,000 entries. You've heard it said, but let ne say it again: this is one of the top five films ever made. Orson Welles does everything right in this masterpiece; he is, along with Woody Allen, the only man ever to be nominated for Academy Awards for writing, acting and directing for the same picture the same year. The direction in this film is magnificent. Against all that had been done before, Welles employed a fluid camera that looked at the world through expressive angles (and in perfect focus, I might add). Welles had a personal theory that one should be able to understand what's happening in a film without being able to hear it. Doing so, he created a stunning array of visual tactics that make the film more colorful and more expressive than any other I've seen (i.e.: the camera looks up at those in the scene who are dominant, and down at the weaker characters). The cinematography is flawless, producing a perfect picture that can be enjoyed in the video. I had an opportunity to see this visually stunning movie on the big screen, and although that is the best way to watch it, the video is a nice alternative. The writing is, in its own sense, ingenious. Although it might leave some bored and/or confused, it uses a dramatic structure (looking back at a man's life through those who know him) that would be immitated ever since. This type of storytelling adds spice and power to this already great movie. Although Welles plays the only major role (as Charlie Kane) and is at his peak in it, the innumerable other supporting performances are almost the same caliber, if not the same, to Welles'. Using relatively unknown actors from Welles' own Mercury Theater troupe, he crated a colorful cast of characters that burn in memory. Allong with the superb picture, the video also includes a first-rate documentary about the making of it.

Summary: intellectual, greatest directing i've ever seen
Review: to make a movie truly great without all the action or slapstick comedy, it has to make you think. Citizen Kane has it all mystery, tragedy, and the the saddening love trials of the richest man in the world. The end of the movie puts the whole thing together with a perfect message. Anyone who doesn't get this movie, or doesn't like it either is too stupid to understand it or, doesn't have any taste in movies and only likes watching action movies or comedies without any plot. this movie makes you think and feel you've got to be able to use your brain like a real person instead of acting like a stupid hick and not giving the movie a chance. My 10 year-old brother understood the movie, and it shocks me that a lot of adults don't.

Review: What does rosebud mean? Citizen Kane is a very confusing movie that starts with Charles Foster Kanes death. Then starts with newsreels that does not make any since.Mr. Kane is married twice and does not know how to love at all!!! Mr. Kane dies a lonly and unmissed man!!
