Summary: I'm waaaaaaitiiiing.........
Review: I can't wait for this to be available on DVD. I'm already saving up for it because I know it will be pricey. Please be sure to add a lot of extras. I think the actor who portrayed Dick Winters was amazing.

Summary: American courage
Review: When I was in college, several of my friends and I would sometimes talk to an old man who would walk through the campus from a neighboring VA hospital. He was in his early seventies and seemed to like to talk to us "young people". We'd be there every Tuesday and Thursday at the appointed time and he would sit and tell us stories. The man led an amazing life, but his stories about WWII while serving under General Patton were the stuff of legend. He would tell us (the ignorant of history) how he was part of a mission to save the men trapped near Bastogne after the Battle of the Bulge. He would recount the awe he and the men serving with him felt as they "relieved" the malnourished, frostbitten, and inadequately armed soldiers that had beaten the German main force by sheer will and attrition. He told us about "E"asy company with tears and admiration. My friends and I always imagined John Wayne when thinking about WWII. He described it differently.

Band of Brothers is the true story of Easy company from basic training through the end of the war. Interviews at the outset of each episode with the original members of Easy Company reminded me so much of the man who had given me and my friends a first hand account of the story. I blew my chance once of experiencing this real human tragedy and triumph through the eyes of one who was there. Now that I am older and presumably wiser, I wouldn't miss it again. Setting aside the wonderful production values that are trademarks of Spielberg and Hanks, the story will take your breath away. War is always regrettable, but at times unavoidable. These men were our grandfathers and great-grandfathers, living through a time and an event that would have made my generation wilt. These were and are the founding fathers of modern America, and they were up to the task.

More than just an outstanding piece of cinema, this is living history as told by those who were there on the front lines and represented by a superb cast and the best directors of today. War will no longer be a glorious hero fest in my mind, conducted by anonymous strangers. This miniseries and my friend Frank have made it real and more emotional for me. May God bless the men of Easy company, and all of the brave men and women who have fought for this country. Thank you Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks for doing them justice with the truth. I would recommend this miniseries to anyone, regardless of politics or ideology.

Frank, (we never knew his last name), died of kidney failure in 1989. We listened to him because we felt sorry for him. We thought we were doing him a favor. We were mistaken. He and the generation depicted in this miniseries had done us all the ultimate favor well before we were born. We owed him far more than a few scraps of time twice a week. When you watch this miniseries, remember that these people and their generation deserve our attention. You'll make someone happy and be richer for the experience.

Summary: Astounding! Absolutely Unbelievable!
Review: Waiting patiently for Band of Brothers on DVD is getting harder. Sunday after Sunday for 10 weeks this was the best thing on TV. Without a lot of knowledge about Easy Company, I came to love and revere everything this brave company went through and accomplished. Band of Brothers is a great book and it was a great miniseries. Absolutely stunning!! Band of Brothers is the best thing to happen to the miniseries genre in years! Perfectly cast, perfectly shot and beautifully acted, this is a marvel for those who love war movies and for those who don't. A masterpiece. I highly recommend this to anyone who wishes to watch something worthwhile and feel the effects for days afterwards.

Summary: Band of Brothers
Review: The book and HBO series were monumental works, depicting amazing acts of bravery and self-sacrifice. The HBO special effects were fantastic and very realistic. It's been said that there may have been some "liberties" taken with a few of the story lines in the HBO series but it was overall a wonderful piece of artistry. We should be very proud of these veterans and their contribution toward ending the horrors of WWII.

Summary: For the love of god --- Publish this series
Review: This was a fictional account of events in WWII, yes. However - The style in which it was done, the emotional conveyance, and the interviews with the vetrans should not be lost on some dusty HBO shelf. Put this movie out, I beg you. Let me watch this show with my children when they are old enough, so that I can explain to them what it meant to me, and what the war meant to the world. If HBO publishes things like the Sopranos on DVD, there is no reason BOB couldn't make it.

Lets get over whatever corporate hangups there are and get this series out there.

Summary: Band of Brothers
Review: ******Absolutely incredible. This is the best WWII mini-series I have ever seen. I waited anxiously every Sunday night to watch what would happen next to Easy Company. Interviews with the real people that were there, true to life battle scenes and a soul searching look at the war through the eyes of the men that were there are just a few of the incredible parts of this mini-series. I am anxiously waiting for them to release it onto DVD. This one is not just for the war movie buff--every American should watch to get a true feeling of what WWII was like. A MUST SEE, MOST OWN!!!!

Summary: something all amercians should watch
Review: A most compounding documentary of Easy Company throughout their travels as US Soldiers. Compelling and gut-wrenchingly truthful. This series will show everyone a new appreciation for our veterans and freedom. I thank them every chance i get for enduring this hell for the pleasures that are afforded me because of their courage. A great series All Americans should have to watch this.

Summary: Tom Hanks Does it Again
Review: Thank God for someone like Tom Hanks who has the resources and reputation to push through a project like Band of Brothers. It had the same affect on me as From the Earth to the Moon. To see the sacrifices, dedication and resolve of ordinary Americans to accomplish a victory over the evil empire of Nazi Germany was awe inspiring. I have read Ambrose' books and am always struck by his portrayal of citizen soldiers overcoming incredible odds to save our freedom. That portrayal is accurately captured in this series.
This series, along with From the Earth to the Moon should be required viewing by all high school students to pass along the historical impact of these events to a new generation, and imbue a sense of what this country can accomplish.

Summary: Purchase the DVD
Review: I believe that we should all be "voting" for the release of Band of Brothers on DVD instead of VHS. It would be great if they released both, but in case they do not, im sure most of would prefer the DVD release. Be sure to "vote" for the DVD version also.

Summary: The first WWII docudrama to get it right!
Review: My grandmother survived WWII in Berlin from ages 12 to 17, through the Russian occupation, concentration camps, everything. The countless horrors, starvation, death marches, POW's and neverending bombing. And although, not everyone's experience is recounted the same, I could almost hear her stories while watching this miniseries. Even though it was not filmed in the same places, they took such attention to detail, the landscapes, weapons, uniforms - wow! If you put this on surround sound you can hear the panzerfaust run right past your head and really feel what it must have been like to live through this horror. I think this miniseries really did the survivors and the men of EZ company justice. A must have for any history enthusiast, for anyone. And as my grandmother keeps reminding me, you need true recounts of what really happened in history so that younger generations learn what happened - So that it will never happen again! Again, the actors were outstanding and this is a must have for anyone. Parents, this is graphic, so please watch and explain this to your children, it is a good discussion starter.
