Summary: Better then Saving Private Ryan
Review: I highly recommend this DVD. I have not read the book it is based upon, so I cannot comment on its faithfulness to the book. There are specific episodes that I believe are outstanding. The one where Easy Company is in the Argonne Forest, I believe. I suppose what makes this series appealing is its honesty and its basis on actual events and people, unlike Saving Private Ryan. Like Black Hawk Down, these are real people experiencing real events. There are no throw away ( the moral quandry of war) characters like "Oppen" (sp?) in Saving Private Ryan. It's the real thing. My only regret about this miniseries is that it premiered on the Sunday night, September 9th, just before the Islamic terror attacks on the US. Perhaps it was coincidence, but the themes of good fighting evil, of free people fighting to free others, rings oh so true and timely.

Summary: LOVED IT!
Review: I'm not an HBO subscriber but had heard good things about this mini-series so I decided to buy it when it came out on DVD.
I watched it one time and I was hooked. I'm not that interested in all the battle scenes but enjoyed the relationships between the men of Easy Company. I think anybody would enjoy this DVD. I liked it so much, I bought the VHS version for my father (who loves war movies). I was surprised by all the unknown actors, they did a great job. I fell in love with Damian Lewis (Major Winters). I hope he makes a lot more movies!!

Summary: Amazing...
Review: Plays like a 10 hour long version of Saving Private Ryan, but with better characters. This was the first time I have ever gotten totally engrossed in a mini-series. Band of Brothers is as stellar of a production as most top notch films, and the long running time of this DVD collection goes by in a blink. I truly wished there was more, I didn't want it to end! Luckily, the set is packed with amazing special features, including documentaries, a WWII timeline, maps, soldier bios, etc...tons of good stuff. If you watched Band of Brothers when on HBO, and enjoyed it, this is a must buy. It should also be in anyones collection that is a fan of history, war movies, or just plain good filmaking.

Summary: Just the Best!
Review: As founder of the All-Movie Guide (AllMovie.com), I have seen and overseen countless thousands of movies rated and reviewed. This is the single best (in my experience) war movie ever made and one of the best movies ever made, from any genre. I was so impressed with it that I watched it a second time within a few days -- all 11+ hours of it. Then I read the book (which takes less time than watching the movie), but it added very little to the experience. I am grateful that this film exists. The DVD transfer and sound were excellent. -- Michael Erlewine...

Summary: great historical drama
Review: the cast, realistic settings and costumes were of the highest order, as was the directing. The realism was overpowering. Best war saga I have ever seen. Proud to say I served with this unit in Vietnam.

Summary: incredible
Review: I am sure that I wont be saying anything new here, but i do feel i must give my own 2 cents worth. Band of Brothers is the most stunning and realistic piece of war movie i have eevr seen, it is obvious since Tom Hanks' role in Saving Private Ryan, that he has been deepply moved by his role in it, and he has desires to show more about what WWII was about. I have a profound and deep appreciatin for the men of the armed forces that fought for us in WWII, their selfless and heroic acts are too numerous to mention, they have done so much for us, and provided our country today with the heritage it now has, and us young twenty somehtings are riding on the coattalis of that and taking it for granted and the security we have. Band Of Brothers gives an amazingly accurate portrayel at what the war would have been like, let's face it, war is not a job any normal, sane person would want to do, and it isnt pleasant by any means, and these men did what many thought impossible. Band of Brothers shows how ugly war can be for both sides, and how much it can affect our lives.
The work done by all the actors was superb, their acting ability was incredible, and they have done very well at capturiong the ugly pain that war inflicts on anyone close enough to it. The movie is terrific, accurate to no end, and the men in it are truly heroes. I had a chance to meet with a veteran of WWII and i got to talk to him briefly about his various tours of duty and the work he did, he had many medals, and was active in many wars after that, he wasnt a warmonger, or one who wanted to kill, he was amazingly gentle, and yet he had fought many times, in WWII, korea, and Vietnam, and his tales were closely matched to what Band Of Brothers portrayed, a grand thank you to all the men and women who has kept our country safe from tyranny, both past and present
A very large tahnk you as well to Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg who have worked hard at keeping the memory ofd this horrific event from fading away, thanks again to everyone who made this movie possilb,e it is greta, your money wont be wasted

Summary: Great series, great history, great DVD
Review: This mini rocks--it's what Private Ryan could have been (so close!). The DVD is wonderful, with some very nice features. Only complaint: the Field Guide intro calls WWII "The War to End all Wars". History buffs will say "Oops!" and move on. You must buy this.

Summary: Truly Powerful History and Drama.
Review: This series tells the story of one company, Easy Company, from the first few days of trainging through the end of WWII in a powerful and real manner. This story has a way of bringing you into the story and helping you understand what the young men of this era went through to save the world. You'll laugh, cry and gain a humble respect for the men and women of this era.

Thank you to Spielberg and Hanks for doing this. Thank you to Ambrose for working with the real men, who served in WWII with Easy. I wish I could shake every man's hand and just tell them thank you for giving their heart, soul and life towards Easy's effort.

Everyone should see this series.

Summary: What a great show
Review: I can only speak great things about this show. I am in England and I saw this on TV one night and all I can say is it was AWESOME. I can also confirm that the majority of my friends loved it. If you watch the first ten minutes you will probably not stop till it's over. I highly recommend this one.

Review: Overall the series is good. One thing missing is the subtitle for the English language.
