Summary: this movie is my Bible
Review: This is my all time favorite movie ever. One of the most disturbing , humorous , violent , sadistic , and just bizzare films that I have seen and actually enjoyed. I have watched this at least 1000 something times since my first viewing at the age of 12. The message and actual purpose of the story gets lost to most viewers who either see it as a warning on the governments method of curving crime , or someone who enjoys violence and nudity , or those who just can't stomache it. Malcom McDowell gives his finest sneering performance ever as Alex the droog leader who enjoys his dope laced milk , ultraviolence , horrorshow and rape and Beethoven. The perfect antihero . Kubrick loaded the film with his usual artsy imagery and popped up versions of famous classical compositions. The slang of the characters is hard to sit through but it makes the film better. The movie does and excellent job at toying with the viewers emotions..we have this sadistic sick character who becomes the victim himself , and also to some may be shown sympathy for. Burgess wanted to prove his point on freedom by creating a ghoulish character of sadism , but also saying that every man deserves to change himself and shouldn't be forced. Alex was brainwashed into curving his violence and sexual activity , he had no choice , the government was only concerned with cutting down crime ..therefor eliminating his freedom in the free world. Now the only problem with this film in comparrison to the book is the omission of the last chapter in which Alex questions his life and wants to reform it on his own. The movie simply just ends with him going back to his nasty self. This film I understand is very difficult for most people to tolerate...but everyone should at least see it once...and decide for themselves

Summary: Absolutely terrible..
Review: Now, first I read the book, a masterpiece of Brtitsh author Anthony Burgess, who creasted the slang featured in the film -- not Stanley Kubrick...-- and, as usual, the movie disappointed me. I generally don't like Kubrick, as he seems pretentious as all heavens, so I can say that this one is probably among the least-bad out of his "classic" era. There are several things he completely [messed]-up, creating a film of psychedellic eye-candy that seems to "glorify" the violent nature of the book, and he makes the lead into an even purer [jerk] than he was in the book, where he seemed to have a bit of sympathy for his mates, amongst other things. If you're a fan of violence, psychedellic films, pseudo-surrealism, and / or Stanley Kubrick, you'll probably enjoy this little endeavor from the Bronx's best-loved hack. If you're a fan of Anthony Burgess and / or real artists, you probably won't enjoy it at all -- I know I didn't.

Summary: This Movie is absolutely Overrated.
Review: I use to read for a while before buying any Stuff, So I think I usually make the right choice...But not with this one. This movie is totally overrated and weird. The characters, the music, etc., I was thinking what kind of people would enjoy this movie?. I think sadism and madness are not a good movie topic (in most times). If you watched Natural Born Killers and you liked it, I think you will enjoy this one too, but if you hated it (as me) you will hate this one even more. I consider myself as an open mind about movies, I enjoy very different genres but I don't get why anyone could enjoy movies like this one. If you want to compare your movie "taste" with mine, my preferred movies are: Sixth Sense, The Matrix, Saving Private Ryan, Forrest Gump, Men of Honor.....if you think your taste is like mine...STAY AWAY FROM THIS MOVIE.

Summary: Powerful
Review: "A Clockwork Orange" left me with many mixed feelings -- it was simultaneously a great movie and an unpleasant experience. Yet when I pondered these feelings with more depth, I realized that this was the true genius of the film -- it made me think more than any movie I had ever seen.Stanley Kubrick's social commentary is undoubtedly strange, which is why the film may repel some viewers. If one examines the themes behind the bizarre imagery, however, he/she is likely to appreciate the film much more. The film is crafted with great visual flair; the stunning direction and imagery is certainly not a fault of the film. I found the classical score effective but at times excessive. I believe some moments have much greater impact without music. The plot was never overly difficult to follow, although the thick English accents are at times difficult to decipher. Overall, this was a powerful film that forces the viewer to question society, even if does seem excessively strange at times and the barrage of imagery and music feel slightly overbearing at some points.

Summary: Book surpassed film
Review: I really liked the novel form of "A Clockwork Orange." It was truly original, shockingly violent from beginning to end. To a lesser degree, I also enjoyed the movie. Malcolm McDowell gives an incredible performance, with excellent facial expressions. Costumes and stage are all well done. My problem with the movie is the part most enjoy so much -- the music. I can't stand it. Sounds like someone bought a twenty dollar keyboard and had some fun. Other than that, the movie is great.

Summary: What on earth??
Review: I don't see how this movie enlightened me. Strange characters, screenplay or dialogues don't necessarily make a film good. Whatever Kubrick's message might have been, it certainly failed to reach me. Did he mean we shouldn't try to cure criminals? Oh, coz their mindset shouldn't be messed with - though they may devastate innocent lives. Now leave that thing, and the only thing left in the movie is the nudity - that would sure please perverted minds.

Summary: Overrated...
Review: This film is hard to pin down. Firstly, Alex is neither likeable nor can you sympathize with him, he's just a bad, bad dude. But then granted, perhaps we're not supposed to. The film then explores the larger issues of capital punishment, government institutions, etc, etc. in a mocking and humorous sort of way. The bottom line for me was that the film was not very entertaining. It may have had a bigger social question in the 70's but by todays standards, the impact is less. Like other Kubrik films, he uses a lot of visual sets, and his craft is certainly displayed here. Bottom line? I don't see what the fuss is about this film. There's no profound message here, and because of it's nature, I couldn't recommend it for general viewing.

Summary: Singin' in the rain...
Review: This is one of the most interesting films I own. I read the book, A Clockwork Orange, and this movie is made very true to the book. There are not too many things left out. I hate to give away the movie in my reviews so....I will try not to. This strange bunch of friends revel in sick, sadistic outings and eventually start to turn on one another. They meet before their outings at the Korova Milk Bar (this is actually a real place located in NYC) and then proceed to terroize the area for the night. Kubric does an excellent job with this movie and I believe it to be one of his finest works. Once you watch the movie you will know about "Singin' in the rain..."

Summary: So Far Ahead Of Its Time, Its FRIGHTENING!
Review: This filmed adaptation of Anthony Burgess' book is shot out of a cannon and it never lets up with the pace. Kubrick created a film set in a near-future London where gangs rule the streets to such an extent that the authorities must use drastic measures to stop the violence. The main character of Alex is played (with a maniacal glint in his eye) by Malcolm McDowell. It's McDowell's breakout acting performance. All of the other actors are incidental to Alex, as we watch him and his "Droogs" terrorize, rape, and plunder like pirates on the high-seas. But when Alex is double-crossed by his gangster buddies, Alex's troubles really begin. Alex undergoes a brainwashing regimen in order to get him to associate everything that excited him with a regurgitation effect. This is modern society's way of dealing with hopeless cases like Alex. But, does the experiment succeed? That's for you to discover. The film was supposedly banned in Britain due to its content, but the truth is the film played in Britain for a short amount of time, and Kubrick saw that some sick British fans of the film were emulating the violence of the Droogs. This so upset him that he refused to release the film again in the UK. It took decades for the film to be shown again to a British audience. That is a testament to the film's powerful message. It is a character study about humanity, and what happens when we think we can control a seemingly uncontrollable situation. It is hard to watch at times, even in the 21st Century, but it is a landmark film by one of the 20th Century's greatest film directors, Stanley Kubrick.
