Summary: One of the Best Art House Films I've Seen
Review: This film is amazing, from its costumes to its soundtrack and wonderful acting. It is a truly unforgettable film. I loved Todd Haynes' directing style, and the way the story was told. Christian Bale played such a sympathetic, wistful character; he showed much depth in this role. Toni Collette was wonderful; I loved the way she intentionally slipped back and forth between an English and American accent, as an American woman who put on an English accent for appearances sake. Ewan McGregor is always wonderful, in anything; I love his energy and courage in his role portrayals. I am not familiar with Jonathan Rhys-Meyers' work, but he was also great, and perfect for the part. While this movie isn't for everyone, I definitely recommend it to anyone who appreciates off-beat movies.

Summary: AMAZINGLY WONDERFUL
Review: Velvet Goldmine was a wonderful thing. It was such an amazing movie that I still remember it vividly, though I saw it last fall. This is a movie that you have to buy everything of it; the soundtrack, the screenplay, EVERYTHING, the costume, and a whole box of glitter. Buy this movie no matter what the price.

Summary: This movie definately deserves a Grammy!!!!!
Review: This, I have to say, is one of the best written movie I've seen. Its shows the lives and times based on the musical greats David Bowie, Iggy Pop,and Lou Reed...The only part of tis movie is Jack Fairy.....see this movie, youll understand..it also changes the outlook on the Bisexual world......this is a must see, and guarenteed a favorite if youre into glitter.

Summary: This movie will suck you in!
Review: Wow. I saw this movie last fall and I am still being affected by it. I bought the soundtrack, the book, and it has inspired me to further broaden my 70's cd collection. It was the only movie I have ever gone to where it seemed people went alone to see it. People looked like zombies as they walked out because the films sucks you in. If you have ever considered music to be a major part of your life and have felt great admiration for certain performers, than you will immediately click with the sentiment of this film. Christian Bale will remind you of the avid music obsessed fan some of us are/were. Ewan is like Iggy Pop meets Kurt Cobain. Mr. Rhys-Meyers is excellent at portraying the rock star some of us wish to be in our fantasies. An excellent cast, perfect costumes, and with one of the best movie soundtracks in years, this movie should not be forgotten. Mainstream movie go-ers ignored this movie, but they sadly missed out. It only left the rest of us wanting to glam up our make up and wear feather boahs. A visual feast...eat it up!

Summary: The Emptiness Behind the Glitter
Review: I fault this film only for sacrificing character development for style. It's a visual feast, but for those of us who came of age during that time, it also captured the spiritual barreness of the time, when image substituted for meaning, as expressed by the glam singer to the journalist/runaway. The young actors are superb, especially Ewen McGregor as the Iggy Pop parallel.

Summary: Hail to the Glitter!
Review: I've seen the movie 4 times now and have already sent the check in to buy it. Never before have I seen such a fabulous film. It's very much Citizen Kane-esque, even down to the controversy surrounding it's release to the public. The costume design is wonderful, and there are many little hints in the film pertaining to Todd Haynes as well as David Bowie. Nothing could ever compare to this film.

Summary: Placebo, glam rock and Sandy Powell all the way!!
Review: This movie is one of the most spectacular movies in years. The era of glam rock is one that should never have ended. The costumes in this movie are outstanding. Sandy Powell(Interview with the Vampire and Shakespeare in Love) really took designing to new heights. Not to mention the soundtrack. The best thing that Todd Haynes and Michael Stipe could have done with the soundtrack was include a band such as Placebo, and they did. Placebo's cover of T-Rex's 20th Century Boy is amazing. This movie is definitly worth watching. And don't forget Placebo fans, they are in the movie as well.

Summary: Men in make-up rule!
Review: The most tarted up film for decades, this flick deserves far more praise than it's been given. Glitter and glam rock rules, and Jonathon Rhys-Meyers is the biggest visual treat since the star of Titanic. His secret smirks and flashing eyes come from a generation where blokes in make-up were appreciated for what they looked like as well as what they represented. Nice boots as well! The soundtrack rocks, with 3 songs from Steve Harley, and a performance from Placebo's Brian Molko on screen. Taken from a detached point of view, the storyline enables the watcher to make up their own opinion on the issues and morals it offers, and the film is put together like a dream sequence with a strong artistic vibe. Must be seen at least 3 times to suss the storyline, but worth every second spent.

Summary: The soundtrack is the best!
Review: I only saw this movie once (it played in a really small theatre in Houston) and can't wait to rent it when it comes out May 11th! I loved Placebo making a cameo appearance in it. I loved the makeup especially! Glitter to the max! And girls...Ewan is completely naked in one scene. *grin*

Summary: A lasting impression....
Review: ... that is what this movie left me with. I saw it once and then became more and more obsessed with it as I listened to the soundtrack and read the screenplay. When it came back to a theater in the town across the river I just had to go see it again. And it was, of course, wonderful
