Summary: a very intense creation that plays with your mood
Review: The movie as a whole is very profoundly crafted. It creates a mood and stays on your mind much after the movie is over! A must see for those interested in getting a lasting experience!

Summary: Exposure of the soul
Review: The Piano has exposed the soul of the artist. Hunter, as Ada, reveals the passion that is inherent in the soul; of a human, of an artist, of a woman. Circumstance may twist what we are, but the core of our self remains. Often concealed in the trappings of society, the core of one's being can be subverted and subdued. With the proper spark, the core self comes singing out of the proper mask, to the astonishment of everyone around. Even, to the human that kept her self tightly bound. When Ada chooses life, it is a moment beyond measure, beyond everything but the experience of breath.

Summary: Fantastic if you get it
Review: The first time I saw this movie was in its original release in the theatre. I didn't care much for it then. It needs to be revisited. I just watched it on video (rather reluctantly) and I loved it. It is about anyone who has ever felt repressed, isolated, and without a voice. And the joy of expression that can come when one person really touches another.

Summary: A real stinker
Review: Could easily be the most overrated video of all time. A hateful, cynical mess. The only redeeming quality was the outstanding cinematography.

Summary: Simply breathtaking
Review: One of my favorite movies ever...the score is perfect, the scenery gorgeous and the acting fantastic. The story is very moving and the whole movie gives me an image of pure beauty. While it may deal with "racy" issues, it actually has a point and is tied together perfectly in the end. Check this movie out NOW.

Summary: Stunningly original
Review: If there's a better movie that develops the themes of isolation and passion, I've never seen it. This masterpiece is that rarest of gems: a perfect blend of acting, script, cinematography and musical score.

Summary: Gets Better With Time
Review: The first time I saw this movie, I could not understand what the fuss was about. Then I had occasion to see it again. Suddenly I saw much more deeply into an intricate, non-linear plot, perfectly acted by a gifted cast, particularly Paquin. The music was also glorious, get the CD if you can. The insight displayed all around is tremendous.

Summary: The Finger
Review: Let's just say that when he cuts off her finger, the combination of the cinematography, the score, and the overall visual and emotional effect, is just the most beautiful, haunting, and mesmerizing scene I have ever seen (as is the rest of the film).

Summary: memorable
Review: This movie is truly a classic. It is not for everyone though, you either like it or you hate it. The Piano is thought provoking and everybody interpretsit differently. All of the acting is superb, but Holly Hunter is exquisite; her performance is probably the best female performance I have ever seen. Jane Campion has created a strong and complex heroine. Don't miss this film, watch it with an open mind and watch it more than once in order to catch all the complexities.

Summary: Boring :-(
Review: Well, I'm really a lover for really good movies and when I heard of The Piano being played on german TV I watched it. (In germany it is rated for the age 12 and above) But I really think that this movie is BORING! Where's the laughter or the fun?(or even the great feelings)

The only great thing on this movie was Anna Paquin She's a really good actress and I hope to see her again in this good mood.
