Summary: Amelie - a real work of art
Review: This has to be one of the cutest movies I have ever seen. If you don't like this movie then you have no soul. Audrey Tautou is the most ideal actress for this film. She brings the character of Amelie to life and makes the audience fall in love with her. She is one of the most adorable actresses out there and she gives Amelie personality. This movie is extremely comical and at the same time a great romantic story. Even though the man she is in love with works at a porn shop. It is a great French film and hopefully it will receive all the recognition it deserves. I can't wait until I can add this to my DVD Collection.

Summary: Wonderful just wonderful
Review: I saw this film in Romania with romanian subtitles. while i'm fluent in romanian, i didnt catch all the laughter others around me caught. still, the jokes i did manage to catch--like the amount of orgasms in the city at that moment, and many others--were just wonderful.

this is a marvelous film and one everyone should watch. and i wait with excitement for the DVD this summer.

Summary: Amelie is wonderful
Review: [five stars isn't enough]
What can I say without telling you the plot...? "Amelie" is a fantastic film. If you are looking for a movie that will lighten your heart and make your head swim, or if you want to see a cinematagraphic feat, or if you love French culture, or live in a big city, or if you don't feel important enough, or if you feel like you're already on top of the world, or if you love romance and comedy...this is the film for you. Don't miss it for the world!

Summary: AMAZING
Review: I feel that this movie is possibly A perfect example why foreign films should be more apreciated in the U.S. It is in my opinion Jean-Pierre Jeunet best film so far. When I first saw this film I was in awe for weeks over Jeunets use of the camera.

Summary: A Charmer!
Review: Well, I would like to say that I am a frequent foreign film watcher, but that would be a lie. In fact, I am often heard to say "I just don't feel like "reading" a movie"...no matter HOW good it is supposed to be. Once I saw the theatrical trailer for this one though, I was hooked. Amelie sucks you in. It is hilarious, charming and just a wonderful feel-good movie. Amelie tries to fix everyone else's life which is fun to watch.... including sending her reclusive father's garden gnome on a world tour complete with pictures sent back home. It is hard to pin point one reason why this is such a good movie. If you are like me, and don't normally watch foreign films, do yourself a favor and watch this one. You will not be disappointed.

Summary: A wonderful movie beautifully made
Review: "Amelie" is a simply wonderful film about a shy, introspective but free-spirited girl who found a kindred spirt (and love of her life) through helping a host of others in need of help. The cinematography was beautiful, and the hilarious scenes of Amelie's overactive imagination (similar to those of "Ally McBeal") made the film just fun to watch. The story itself, while largely predictable (after all, can this film really end on a sad note?), has a few twists and turns that keeps the viewer highly entertained. Last but not least, composer Yann Tiersen did a wonderful job with the soundtrack that successfully created the appropriate mood (just listening to the music evokes "Paris" in one's mind). I just couldn't get that melancholy "Guilty" out of my head when I'd left the theater after watching the film. Thus, I also *highly* recommend the soundtrack.

BTW, this film is subtitled. I'd never thought that this would be an issue when recommending a film, but after reading the scathing reviews from subtitled-challenged reviewers on "Crouching Tiger and Hidden Dragon", ("I can't believe that it wasn't in English!!!") I guess my fellow Americans need to be warned that not every film needs to be in English to be worth watching. Sad but true . . .

Summary: Amelie-French, Fabulous, and Funny
Review: This was one of the greatest movies I have ever seen. It is sweet, romantic, and oh so funny. You will watch this movie with a big smile on your face; and it will make you want to move to France. After this movie, you will become a regular "do-gooder" yourself.
ENJOY!

Summary: One of the best movies, if not the best, I've ever seen!!!!
Review: When this movie came out, I saw it two weekends in a row, then took my friends to see it, then saw it once more before it finally left the theatre. This movie is definately delightful and uplifting. It's such a breath of fresh air when most movies today seem so alike, as though they were created using the same formula. This movie is so ingenious and original that it sets a new standard for movie makers....Hollywood, get with it!

Summary: It'll change your life.
Review: Amelie is one of those movies you watch over and over again. You stop watching it for plot, or for entertainment, but just for that heart-warming feeling of being able to identify. Great, great movie, should be part of everyone's collecion.

Summary: Simply Perfect
Review: Amelie is the film that defines the genre of magical realism...more specifically, Joyous Magical Realism -- that part of life that borders on, and maybe goes into, the fantastic. it is not unbelievable, for we all hope to live our lives in that perpetual state of grace and perfection. Amelie captures this in film. Audrey Tatou is divine in her role of Amelie, a young French girl working in a cafe who has a moment of clarity, an epiphany so profound and simple that she is able to grasp it and act upon it without hesitation. Simply put, to make peoples' lives better. She then embarks upon a series of quests to do just that. It is these quests that are the joy of the film, but fear not, Amelie is not left out.
Let me say that at the end of the film, we share her joy. I do not recall ever leaving a theater in tears of joy as I did with Amelie. It is a pity that there are no more than 5 stars to rate this film. View it, live it, love it, love HER.
