Summary: Different
Review: I am from this town and not surprised by the original motive of Errol Morris. I do have all my limbs though.
This documentary shows the intrigue behind those who do not search far beyond their own borders, and the tales formed to keep it interesting. It is neither offensive nor disrespectful, because any place you go you will find eccentric individuals. This film brings out the qualities of people, who at first seem so alien, but then almost understandable. Most of the film you will probably sit there and say, "no, he is not serious." Yes, yes they are and proud of it. So just sit back and laugh, because on some level, our thoughts and beliefs are just as absurb to someone one else.

Summary: Funny! The funniest Ever! ..... That's what I have heard.
Review: I am from Vernon, Florida. Really! It is amazing to read what others think of this "ridiculous" movie made so long ago. I was 5 and my family and I were on vacation in Tennessee and my brother was flipping the channels and there it was, "Vernon, Florida". I still can't believe it! I can't believe people actually see it as such a funny movie. It is just ordinary people, ...who am I kidding... it is a riot. Believe it or not, I know Snake peronally (I even know his real name and why they call him Snake). The turkey hunter, well, I know where he lives. I run into him every now and again in town. And the church, well that was my church. *I want a copy of this movie. I think if Star Wars can be re-released, why not this Classic. Lastly, the turtle? It is a GOPHER and a turky gobble might just be the cure for diarrhea!

Summary: ABSOLUTELY THE FUNNIEST DOCUMENTARY EVER MADE
Review: I am saddened and appalled to see that this film is not currently available on video or DVD. I mean, Christopher Guest's 'mockumentaries' are funny, but this is THE REAL THING! It's just a bunch of people talking about their lives and their town, but it'll make you laugh until you think you might throw up. It's the acid test for choosing friends. If you show this to somebody and they don't think it's hilarious, don't waste any more time on them. Somebody, please, reissue this gem so I can continue to expand my social circle. Thanks.

Summary: Very true-to-life--if you are from Vernon, Florida! Amazing!
Review: I grew up in Vernon, Florida, and I knew most of the people in the film. In fact, my mom was in the church scenes, and my dad found and gave the "gopher" to the old man. It is amazing to see these quirky personalities caught as they truly are on film. All of my life, I have tried to tell others what Vernon, Florida, is like and how it is so very different. The film could do that for me! I would LOVE to have my own copy of this, and also would like to purchase extras as gifts. HELP!!!!!!!!

Summary: wow
Review: I have just watched the film for the first time about ten minutes ago. I don't know if I'll ever be able to view turkeys in the same light again. I am particularly interested in the illustrious "double gobble" and what life lessons could be learned from it. I have to beg, no plead that everyone be exposed to this fine documentary of, well of what I'm not entirely certain. Please see it and warn others.

Summary: Please Please Rerelease it!
Review: I just bought a weekend home 4 miles and 40 years away from Vernon. I was told to go to THE video store in Vernon to rent this. I couldn't believe it! This movie is not funny. Its downright sad. Tragic. I laughed my *ss off. I have a local gentlemen renting a room and watching the property. One day the dog starting barking at something in the yard. I asked the rentor what it was, he said a gopher. Being a yankee and thinking of caddyshack, I go out to look for a brown fuzzy animal. There was nothing out there but a turtle! Long story shorter, we actually argued for an hour over what the animal was. He had never heard of or seen a brown fuzzy animal called a gopher, and I had never heard the term gopher turtle. Needless to say we were both right, I was just a little bit righter. So let me jump on the band wagon and beg, plead, someone please re-release this film. I'm also looking for "Frogs" filmed in Point Washington, which is near Seaside, home of "The Truman Show". I will try to get a copy(ies) of Vernon, as I am in the business, contact me at SeasideKenny@webtv.net, or Resort Video in Seagrove at (850)231-0095.PS. If you really love "Vernon Florida" check out "Waiting for Guffman" Its all adlib. Enjoy!

Summary: Great Movie!
Review: I live close to Vernon, Florida. I also know several people from there. I accidentally came across this movie while flipping channels, and recently purchased a copy for myself. This movie features the Good Ole' Boys, or at least that's how we refer to them around here. And yes, much of what you see in the movie is real, we really act like that around here. It's just a wonderful movie. I plan to keep this to show to my children and grandchildren when I get them. It's a great example of the way we live in south east Alabama, and in the edge of Florida.

Review: I saw this for the first time in college about 11 years ago. My friends and I still to this day talk about it. I love the parts with the guy that raises earthworms (they's books on worms but they's all wrong).

Summary: Please Re-release
Review: I was forced to watch this movie over 8 years ago while in a college film class. I am still telling people about it today. It is one of the most true, funny films I have ever seen. It brings a smile to my face just thinking about it. I know people just like that in Oklahom. They all want copies.
