Summary: Not that great or relaxing
Review: After reading the rave reviews of this DVD, I was excited to pop it in and relax with it. The things you need to be aware of are #1 the soundtrack is of the really ultra schmaltzy meandering new age variety. It is not ambient enough to take your mind off of it, but not good enough musically to make you want to listen intently, so therefore it is in a BAD middle ground. I prefer a popping a cd in along with it. #2 The first couple of scenes are shot in TIME LAPSE. For those of you who are familiar with time lapse filming, while it looks somewhat cool, the pace is accelerated and frenetic, if anything. Billing this disc as a "chill out" DVD sure seems off here as well, given that clouds are literally RUSHING by as though you are in a jet airplane. The camera also pans wildly back and forth, so you do not even have the opportunity to pause and reflect on the imagery for a moment. Far from relaxing. Later in the disk is a water "ballet" which is poorly orchestrated with video edits, and if anything, cheesy and trite. Finally, SOME of the footage is of superb quality, but a good deal of it is also edited footage that appears to have originated on 16mm, video, or WORSE. Simply spliced in with the more quality footage combined with the quality of the DVD image, it really stands out. Overall, I give the disc a 2, because I feel that it has some merits, but do be aware of what you are buying, because, I for one was disappointed.

Review: I have never seen a video as breathtaking as this. The use of Tangerine Dream musically was a stroke of genius. Have seen David's other work and this is up there with some of his other projects. Hope to see more of him in the future.

Summary: Don't bother
Review: I'd just been watching Chronos by Ron Fricke, which is excellent, then played this back to back. It just doesn't stand up. The images themselves are fine, but there are too many things that are wrong. The way the camera pans across the landscape is horrible, very mechanical, makes you feel like a robot. Then the editing is just plain bad, cuts happen with absolutely no feel for the music that is happening underneath.
I managed to last thru the first five minutes and it was like someone scratching their nails down a chalkboard.

Review: I've found that Enya's "A Day Without Rain" album goes beautifully with this DVD.... make sure to turn the volume down on the television, the volume up on the stereo, Enya's on repeat (the entire album), and sync the video and the music to start as if you've already prepared and played both, pausing the album to start at the first track after stopping the video to press play at the same time (Miramar sequence should be seen first with the music) if anyone has any more great videos or music to share or would like to know other music/video combinations I've enjoyed, please write me..... thanks

Review: I've seen this DVD countless times on American Airlines trips, it is played while the boarding process goes on. This is so unique that I had to have a copy for my collection. I can only describe it as a moving mural with soothing music. Whenever I need to unwind after a tense day at the office, or on the road, this helps. It leaves me with a strange emotion where on one hand I feel so tiny and powerless in the universe, and at the same time I feel excited and joyful about simply being alive. Words like this don't come easy for me, but this is the reaction I have to these images. Thanks David Fortney! Well done!

Review: If you like photography, cinamatography, or the outdoors then you will love this. The images that David Fortney captures in this video are so peaceful and relaxing. And the music that goes with it (synth's) is perfect for what is being displayed. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it is only 37 minutes (too short), but for [price] it's worth it.
