Summary: Great for Father's Day....
Review: There was just no way that I was going to get my husband another golf shirt for Father's Day from the kids. So, I ordered this DVD. Of course, he opened up the box before I was able to wrap it and had to watch it right away. Not only did he love it, but so did I! I really recommend it.

Review: This DVD consists of two extended interviews with Stan Lee, who is probably the most famous and influential writer of comic books in the history of that medium. For the most part, Kevin Smith, the interviewer (himself a comics writer and filmmaker), gives Lee the floor and allows him to say whatever he wishes to say. This is a nice relief from many interviews, in which the interviewer imposes himself into the proceedings far more than is either necessary or welcome. And, as it turns out, Lee is an engaging speaker, very easy to listen to and full of interesting things to say about various of his creations.My complaint is that there is no real depth to the interviews. I got this disc as part of the deluxe DVD edition of "Spider-Man," so that it comes off as an extended supplement more than anything else. As that, it is fantastic. If, however, you consider it as its own entity, as something you are prospectively about to pay $... for, it is probably not worth the money. Lee is an important, interesting figure, and surely something more cohesive could have been fashioned out of hours of talking with the man. What we get, instead, is sort of a greatest-hits version of Lee's story. It's interesting, but not satisfying.

Summary: Ultimate Fanboy DVD!! A must have!!
Review: This DVD has two of my favorite people in comics, Kevin Smith and Stan "The Man" Lee. Stan Lee and Marvel comics are the fondest memories that I have as a child, and the reason that I still read comics 30 yrs later. Kevin Smith has done what every "FanBoy" would love to do. This DVD has information that is legend, and also info that I had never heard before. When Stan is telling the stories about marvel comics in the 50's and 60's you feel like you are really there. Kevin has the same look on his face that I would have if I could interview Stan... utter admiration and amazement!!! If you love comics as I do, GET THIS DVD!!

Summary: Truly Excellent!
Review: This DVD left me riveted! I bought it for my teenage son who is a comic book fan and was pleasantly surprised at how much I loved it. As a writer I was fascinated by Stan Lee's story-telling brilliance and journey. This is perfect for the comic book fan and non-fan alike.

Summary: This is a real stinker of a DVD....
Review: This DVD was oviously made by a film crew working on a low budget so they filmed it in a comic store and they got Kevin Smith to be the interviewer. Oh Please... If they wanted to do a first rate interview with Stan Lee, they should have gotten Steven Spielberg to do it. He's a huge Marvel Fan and a talented film maker, something Smith will never be. Anyway, you are best off to avoid this DVD like you avoid a bad package of meat. I hope A&E will release on DVD their Biography special that they did on Stan Lee in 1995. That is a much better documentry and covers Stan's years at Marvel when the stories were the most interesting.

Review: This is a truly interesting DVD in that it features Stan "The Man" Lee, creator (or co-creator) of Spider-man, The Incredible Hulk, the Fantastic Four, and virtually all of the early concepts that formed the pantheon of Marvel Comics characters. On this disc Stan is interviewed about the inspirations for these legendary characters by none other than film-maker Kevin Smith, who you may recall gave Stan a cameo in his movie Mallrats. While I have read a lot of the information presented here in various other places, there's something that's just plain cool about hearing the stories from the man himself.
There isn't a whole lot on this disc as far as extras go, but it does have an interview with Stan's wife, some vintage home movie footage, and a few other items of interest. But the feature presentation is really well done and worth having.

Summary: Hear from a legend in the comic book industry
Review: This was a great DVD. Kevin Smith movie director and writer for Marvel Comics sat down with Stan Lee and interviewed him about how Spider-Man came to be, his thoughts about Spidey's success, how Spider-Man was almost thrown away. Also hear about how he created the Fantastic 4, X-Men, Daredevil, and others. Find out what it takes to be a comic writer. Stan is very humble yet also has the lovable full of himself aura. Also on this DVD Stan talks about the never released B-Movie version of the Fantastic 4 that was never released. A lot of people say Stan is arrogant but I disagree. I think he comes off confident and proud of his accomplishments. He also gives credit to Kirby, Ditko, and all the other people that he worked with throughout the years. Bottom line is that without Stan Lee there would be no Marvel Comics. Buy this DVD, you won't regret it.
