Summary: Fake documentary
Review: This is a nasty film from the late seventies, showing the various deaths of humans and animals from around the world. The problem is most of them are faked, and so the end result is bad. The DVD picture is alright, and the sound in Dolby Digital stereo is ok. The extras feature an extra program, Faces of Death Fact or Fiction? which interviews the director Conan Le Cilaire, who reveals how the scenes were simulated. There's also some trailers for other videos in a similar vein. A mediocre film, but you get two longish films (155 minutes) on one disc. One for fans of cheap exploitation films.

Summary: This movie warped my fragile little mind!
Review: The guys at the video store let me rent this one when I was like 12 years old. I used to be into all that sicko horror stuff, so the box for FOD really interested me. ANYWAYS, the scumbags actually let me rent it, and let me tell you, by the end of the movie, I was totally disturbed about death and dying. A few weeks later, my grandfater passed away and it was really hard for me to deal with because I kept thinking about all the stuff I saw in Faces Of Death.

Summary: Faces of Death 1
Review: Im only 16 and I saw this movie. I found out about it from a cousin. This movie I expected to be a ton more hardcore than it was. There was nothing in this movies I had to close my eyes for. To tell you the truth this movie is like a Disney movie. If you want to see REAL HARDCORE action dont look at Faces of Death 1, the others are more intense and sicker. If you want to laugh rent or buy this one. Faces of Death 1 is a beginner FOD movie!

Summary: oddly amusing
Review: Faces of Death made me laugh, because the death-guy took himself so seriously. He acted like the images portrayed were some fascinating thing, when in reality they were just guests in a gross out party. If you want to learn about the reality of death, you don't need to see two dogs eating each other to shreads. Really, you don't. I ... you not.

I found the animal scenes to be disgusting, and I'm the type of person who can deal with watching ANYTHING. I've seen it all, and I have to say that some of the scenes in this movie, mainly the animal ones, were just repulsive. Not interesting, not informative, just flat out repulsive. This is coming from someone who writes about rape, torture, and... dadadadeath. Someone who surfs the sickest sites on the net, and has seen the sickest of the sickest movies.

This film appears to be one that people can brag about seeing. "I saw faces of death. I'm really [fill in the blank] now." Um... no. No, you're not.

I WILL say that the portrayel of the death penality was somewhat fascinating. It had me on the edge of my seat. I will also say that this film made me feel guilty about my sadistic ways. That's it though. For the most part it was....on a stick. I laughed when I found out that the guys wife died at the end. Oh, the irony!

Seriously, don't waste your time. If you want to learn about the reality of death, go open a dead friend or family members coffin and examine him or her. THAT'S reality. Not a bunch of how-disgusting-can-we-get images on your TV screen. ...

Summary: Faces of Garbage
Review: Pure & utter crap! Don't waste your money. I bought my F.O.D. 1-6 set for $30, & that was $30 too much. If you want to see fake killings, buy a horror movie!

Summary: true or false
Review: this film had me thinking is this possible? of course not how can camera men get so close to the action. Althought it was made up film it is still one to keep in the dvd collection so when the family come around you can shock them with this film and it will try showing the slaughter house scene when they are just tucking in to that stack

Summary: Mondo Controversy
Review: Well, F.O.D is the most famed of it's kind, but the fact remains that most of the scenes are staged. Easy way to tell: doesn't it look a little too cinematic to be "accidental"? The autopsies, animal slaughter, and other stuff without a stupid explanation is the only real stuff here. Other mondo films are better(like Traces of Death), but this does remain one of my favs. Happy Hunting! P.S. Dr. Gross isn't a real doctor.

Summary: Faces of Death: Amusing and Silly
Review: I really enjoyed the Faces of Death DVD, although it was much better when I saw it when I was eight. Back then, everything looked real. The human deaths are obviously contrived, but that doesn't diminish the quality. You have to imagine that things like this really do happen in the world. By doing so, you really get a feel for what is going on. Although the feature was amusing, the Fact or Fiction part was downright comical! The bald doctor with bushy eyebrows was the best bad actor in the series. He's great because he is such a terrible actor. My favorite part was the end credits. Thomas Jefferson played a part in making the film as did John Locke. Another guy named Richard Head also played a key role. I don't think the film would be as powerful if they didn't rely on the master skills of Johnny Getyerkokov. Without him, the film would have been void of any substance. Overall, I think this fake snuff film was great! If you really enjoyed this movie, I recommend "Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer" That movie is really frightening, and I'm not joking. I loved that movie!

Summary: The Best for a party!
Review: Even if this is not all the way real, this movie ROCKS! It has every king of death even all the way down to people eating monkey brains! It is very gross and demented but it is iteresting. Youll like it if you are in your late teens and early twentys.

Summary: death meets technology
Review: I feel that this disc is the highest accomplishment of gorgan pictures, to offer such brutality on a dvd format is truely bizare. the old footage sure did look better, but i feel the real draw of this title was the fact or fiction chapter. first with the brutal death collage that it starts with is a sight to be seen . Next the fact that the director is disguised, with his voice also disguised electronically, also adds to the whole evil aspect of the faces of death series. I think this dvd was well done, and i enjoyed it. Im not saying it's for everyone, but im rating it on it's quality, well done. I found the demonic gorgan logo image at the begining of the disc amusing. I am not a death lover, but im sure everyone wonders about the authenticity of this film, and of the mysteries of death itself. i feel that the behind the scenes aspects made the dvd. i rented it though, it wasent something i wanted to leave around the house, but im sure fans will enjoy it very much
