Summary: no words, no music
Review: thank you. for returning us to the simple horror of the aftermath. without pre-packaged emotion, without music, without words. no one looking for cable news "documentary" need apply. but then again, haven't we had way too much of that sort of thing already. a masterpiece of restraint.

Summary: DISAPPOINTING
Review: The events of September 11, 2001 are long gone. When I first heard about this tape and began to watch it I expected a moving documentary that would give further insight on that tragedy. I was disappointed. An important element was missing from the tape and that element was human intereaction.

WTC:The first 24 Hours shows footage of the World Trade Center during the aftermath of its collapse. Your eyes along with the cameraman will witness a ball of flame encompassing the building. Then you wade through the debris and see police, paramedics and firemen begin the tasks of trying to put things back in order. Your eyes are assaulted by the surrounding devestation.

The shots of the collapse and workers are fine but they are just that;random shots. The lack of narration through the printed or oral word makes it difficult to grasp how one photo relates to the other. As the camera moved from one spot to another you would wonder just where you were in the center.

If you are looking for raw footage of the the WTC collapse then this is an excellent film. If you desire more interpretation of what happened and want to focus on the men and women who worked through the tragedy, I would recommend that you try some other video.

Summary: Excellent footage with a wide angle
Review: The Ground Zero Footage is amazing & the way it was shot is interesting, wide angles & slow pans make this a unique video. Another great video is WTC 9-11-01 Day Of Disaster which is available on Amazon.com. the video has the fire departments fireground radio traffic recorded onto the video while the video was being shot. The video also has exclusive incredible fire footage. I highly recommend both videos.

Summary: Exactly as advertised
Review: This documentary does a very good job of giving the viewer a street-level view of Ground Zero and the surrounding areas hours after the tragic events of September 11th. The images in this video are some that I have never seen before, and I appreciated the filmmakers non-use of narrative or background music which would have only interfered with the haunting images and the first-person view that the video reflects.

Summary: A stunning documentary...
Review: This documentary presents inside footage of Ground Zero taken during the first 24 hours following the collapse of the World Trade Center. Presented with no music or narration, the film portrays the level of devastation that was present, and, to me at least, illustrated the total hatred that Islamic militants have for America and its citizens. This documentary will both terrify you and inspire you, as you see the diligence and dedication of the rescue workers who worked tirelessly to save any survivors. Highly recommended.

Summary: Weak
Review: This DVD is essentially a collage of various clips of fottage shot around Ground Zero during the first 24 hours. The footage is OK, but only 30 minutes! They call this a documentary, but it is just raw footage spliced together! I would NOT recommedn this as you can get just as good footage in several of the other real documentaries.

Summary: WTC- The First 24 Hours DVD
Review: This is a great documentry. I'm a firefighter and seeing
this makes me think about the 343 FDNY members who
perished when the twin towers were attacked on 9/11/01.
These 343 firefighters are fallen heroes. This is also
a tribute to the fallen NYPD, NY/NJ Port Athority
members and the other people that lost their lives
on 9/11/01.

Summary: Not what I expected......
Review: This is mostly what we've seen before, no commentary, and only a few minutes long. As previous reviewers stated, save your money.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: A genuine raw historical document
Review: This is raw footage- pure and simple. From the horrifying spectacle of the North Tower falling out of the opening frames of the full length document to the almost banal sounds of talking heads on a hidden television as the scene pans through a dust covered Burger King, the film emphasizes the rawness of the moment.

The soundtrack is clanking metal, fireman's locator signals, blowing papers, and desperate digging. The cameraman thoroughly covered the area- from the Financial center to the perimeters of Ground Zero. Perhaps a decade from now, its frames will be carefully examined for more evidence and understanding about this awful event. With all the hype and music stripped away, this reminds us of the core of it all, Ground Zero when it was Ground Zero. Let us never forget.

Summary: A tasteful and accurate documentary - Bravo!
Review: THIS IS REAL!! I watched the smoke from the collapsed towers with thousands of others as we ran eastbound across the 59th St. Bridge on the morning of 9/11. What I felt at that moment has been captured in this film in the most respectful and tasteful way possible.
This is an extraordinary historical documentary that I will be sure to show my grandchildren many, many years from now. I applaud the makers of "The First 24 Hours" for portaying a time that should never be forgotten...and for leaving it as is - no intrusive music or commentary. Well done.
