Summary: Don't waste your time with this one!!
Review: (Full disclosure: I was an NYPD officer that day, lost two NYPD buddies and my brother-in-law) Did not find this terribly informative and actually quite boring. In lieu of this DVD I would HIGHLY recommend the "A&E- Investigative Reports" version, if it ever becomes available.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Accurate and Articulate
Review: As a person who spent his days and nights living in the shadows of this city and its beauty I watched every second of film and every moment of new footage as the crisis unfolded before me. Nova presents an extremely accurate and thoughtfully delicate analysis of the collapse of the two towers. Their thoroughness was appreciated and this presentation extremely tactful and tasteful.

Summary: Gripping and informative
Review: Having seen a few of the 9/11 features that have been released (and some have been quite good), I would have to say that 'Why the Towers Fell' is superior across the board. The fact that it's a NOVA production probably has a lot to do with this. The main premise of the story is that it follows a team of engineers who begin searching for clues that help to explain why the towers fell. The viewer learns by watching this the role that the jet fuel had in the spreading of the fire, as well as how the damage to the building's core impacted the different time frames and manners which the two towers collapsed. With this there are interviews with several structural engineers who give their insights, as well as interviews with three survivors (one of whom escaped from above the crash site in tower two) and their stories.
In addition to the interviews, the film contains a brief history of the building of the World Trade Center, and learn that at the time they had considered the buildings could withstand the impact of the largest jet at the time.

If you only purchase one video/dvd about 9/11, this is the one. Powerful, educational, and sensitive to it's material, this is not to be missed.

Summary: Don't waste your time with this one!!
Review: I saw this program originally on my local PBS station when it aired. It technically shows how and why the towers fell. Why the second tower that was hit by a plane fell first, how the towers stood strong then, without warning collapse, and the heartache the building's architech felt watching the towers get attacked and then collapse from his office a couple of blocks away from Ground Zero. Very well done 60mins. of TV that answers alot of questions people might have or rumors that people might have heard. Highly reccomended to purchase with "9/11 - The Filmmakers' Commemorative Edition." Which is an inside view with very exclusive footage from the first plane hitting to footage INSIDE the North Tower as the South Tower fell! WE WILL NEVER FORGET

Summary: Hypothetical and incomplete
Review: I'm not even sure what conclusions were reached in this presentation. They say each tower fell differently. In WTC2, the bolts supporting the trusses supposedly melted, causing the floors to collapse while appearing to explode outwards. In WTC1, they say the core melted, causing the structure to implode while appearing to cave in from the top. Yet why did they both fall in such similar fashion, that is vertically, with its very substance seemingly pulverizing in mid-air? How did they each fall so quickly? This incredible phenomenon begs to be explained.
Importantly, what an error in judgement to have excluded other buildings of the former WTC complex--WTC7, for example! This structure had 47 floors! No plane hit it. Yet we saw it fall just as explosively and quickly as the towers. Why is it being omitted?
This presentation is biased and incomplete, intolerably so.

Summary: thumbs up!
Review: This film is very technical in nature and doesnt touch on the humanistic aspects of the disaster too much, but its interesting. If you`re interested in how things are designed and built, you will enjoy this presentation. The fact that the towers stood as long as they did after such a devastating impact is testament to the men that used such foresight and innovation to design them.

Summary: Excellent technical.
Review: This is a very nice "emotion-less" documentary.
After the tragedy, media overflew us with emotional info, and sincerely, I did not turn the TV on for a while. I was pregnant, and just thinking of all the kids who lost their parents made me sick.

This documentary helped me to have another view on the events. Very technical, it doesn't forget the value of each life, but focus on what could be (could have been/should have been) done to avoid such tragedy.

After viewing it, you can view another doc, such as the report by the 2 french brothers, and then, you can focus on the emotions, because your mind can "understand" the technical.
