Summary: Great DVD Of A Very Sad Day
Review: Although the subject matter is horrific, this DVD is a great addition to my library. You get 4 different looks at the awful event itself, but the big difference in this DVD vs. the VHS copy is the bonus material! There's an excellent-quality segment on "the WFAA-TV interview" with Mr. Zapruder, made just hours after he filmed the assassination. I have several JFK videos, but I have never seen a lot of this material before! You even get to see about 2 minutes of the program that was interrupted before you get into the "live bulletin" news coverage. And the interview is shown in its entirety, and very clear. Quite chilling. Other extras on the DVD are nice too, including the 1975 "Good Night America" program with Geraldo Rivera, where America first was shown Zapruder's famous film, to the horrified gasps of the live audience members. This "Good Night" segment is quite complete also, with most of the late-night broadcast shown on the DVD. I'm not trying to minimize the actual Zapruder footage shown here (which is indeed quite crisp and clear, albeit with still a lot of dust and artifacts present that were obviously simply impossible to remove), but for me the prize in the package is the bonus material offered, and it makes this DVD a MUST for those like myself who collect about every Kennedy video out there. Because I guarantee you, you won't find lots of this footage anywhere else!

Summary: Good enough for me
Review: Aside from the fact that too much time is spent describing the new and improved processing of the Zapruder film (no offense, Tracy), this presentation was instrumental in my conversion from a hardcore conspiracy buff to a believer in Lee Harvey Oswald's sole guilt. I will not use this forum to discuss that, only to say that it clearly shows (if studied with open eyes) no damage to the back of JFK's head. The slow motion sequences are disturbing, but necessary to explain the importance of the Zapruder film. It is an excellent piece of work and should be a part of anyone's library (conspiracy buff or not) who is interested in the Kennedy assassination. It should be a companion to the documentary, FOUR DAYS IN NOVEMBER. There is no controversy discussed in the film - only a clearer and better view of the great American tragedy.

Summary: Finally a version of the most famous film ever!
Review: At last, a clean, perfect copy of the famed Zaparuder film documenting the event that changed American history on 11/22/63. This DVD contains a digitally mastered, frame-by-frame copy of this historical film.Included with it is a documentary with interviews of the key folks involved with Mr. Zaparuder's filming the president's assassination and clips regarding the event, during and after. It cronologically follows the event leading up to the purchase of the film from him by Time/Life and the subsequent sale back to him, the government's use of it as evidence and others use of bootleg versions of it to prove a conspiracy. There is also featurette describing the the process of digitally mastering the film and many clips and text revolving around the incident. A well conceived and meticulous production that showcases the famous film and how it has been so aptly preserved. All in all this DVD is a must for those who desire to see the most controversial film of all time.

Review: Here it is in all it's gory glory. The most important record from that fateful day in Dealey Plaza - the Zapruder film. I bought a copy of this film on VHS when it first came out in 1998. I don't recall whether it had all the extras that this version has but it's nice to finally own it on DVD. I just finished reading Robert J. Groden's The Killing Of A President (an excellent collection of photographic evidence) and wanted to view the Zapruder film one more time. This DVD contains 4 different versions of the assassination as well as the entire interview of Abraham Zapruder from later that day and the entire Goodnight America segment (featuring Groden) . We owe Abraham Zapruder a debt of thanks for being in the right place at the wrong time to record this historic footage. Thank you Abraham.

Summary: Stunning Revelation for Post-Boomers
Review: I first saw the (very grainy and undoubtedly bootlegged) Zapruder film at a teach-in during my college days. Finally, about thirty years later, it's possible to view it about as clearly as we're ever likely to see. This is an essential historic document. It certainly won't answer all the questions that still float around about JFK's assassination, but anyone with even a mild interest in history will be fascinated by (a) how the film came into being, (b) how it was preserved and enhanced (probably thereby providing new grist for conspiracy theorists' mills?), and (c) the haunting images. I found myself, while watching the various versions (close, closer still, etc.), quietly hoping that at least one of them would turn out differently than all of them had, ever did, and always will. Absolutely essential for students of the JFK assassination.

Summary: BAD NEWS: 6 FRAMES ARE MISSING
Review: I have some really bad news for you all. Frames 155, 156, 208, 209, 210, 211 are missing! But we have 483 frames out of 486.....This means not only 6 frames are missing but 3 OTHERS have been added! You need to buy this VHS video so you can have a reference point for the brain-washing that is to take place. These frames that are conveniently omitted (go buy the tape and see) are also the very frames where time/space compression was used to make it look like the Presidential limousine was moving when it was really stopped; implications being guess who was behind the assassination? Web Research bystanders Rosemary Willis and Croft who because of these and other cuts do some strange things on the sidewalk. Buyer BEWARE!

Summary: Best Historical Movie Since Glory
Review: I loved how they put color into it and how they talk about who and the mysteries that killed him. I also like how they used regular photos and the film in this. It was cool to see the real shots (Sorry Mrs. Kennedy). If you like these kind of movies I recommend it.

Summary: An excellent presentation but...
Review: I loved the producers' painstaking care in presenting the history of the most important movie ever made, and the four versions of the film shown in all their glorious, digitally restored splendor (yes, it is state of the art, unlike what one reviewer said). But there was one serious, glaring error that no one has pointed out. The original Zapruder film contains 486 frames (including the "damaged" frames before the road sign): 132 of the motorcycles entering Dealey Plaza, and 354 frames showing the assassination. However, the Z film shown on this DVD only has 483 frames. The restoration team screwed up, leaving out three frames in their 4"x5" transparency duplication process! The missing frames are all after frame #313 (the head shot). If they do another edition of this DVD, I certainly hope they do take the time to include those three frames!

Summary: Only thing new: The Zapruder Film between the sprocket holes
Review: I was somewhat disappointed in this JFK assassination video. I expected a lot of new, never seen before information about the assassination of JFK. This video is strictly about Abraham Zapruder's 8mm film. It talks about the history of the Zapruder film from that day until the present time. At the end of the video, they show the Zapruder film with the footage between the sproket holes. There was nothing there that we hadn't seen before on other JFK assassination videos.

Summary: Back and to the left, back and to the left...
Review: If you are interested in the Kennedy Assassination, then you must get this DVD. It is much clearer than any version I have seen on TV. The original film was transfered frame-by-frame to large format film, then digitized for the DVD. You can view it frame by frame too, using the pause command of your DVD player. It doesn't get any better than this. There's also a very nice history of the film included.
