Summary: This video will please any "real" GM fan!
Review: "Ladies and Gentlemen" offers a semi-complete track listing of GM videos spanning 15 years, and will no doubt become a prized possession. Some rare videos - such as "Too Funky," "I Knew You Were Waiting," and "Kissing A Fool" - are included. Also included is footage from "MTV Presents GM Unplugged;" no doubt, this has been much anticipated by fans who missed the original air date. The GM solo releases from his earlier Wham! days - "Careless Whisper," and "Different Corner" - are indeed a refreshing addition and complete the track listing. If you are a GM fan that lives outside of the UK, such as myself, then you have probably not seen most of the videos released from the LP entitled "Older;" fortunately, most of these videos are included, except the single "Older." I am suprised, however, that Sony was able to offer this video compilation at such an affordable price, considering of course, that it is over 2 hours in length. The arrangement and progression of the videos is quite natural though, unlike the poor arrangement in the LP "If You Were There," which was released earlier by Sony. It is also unfortunate, that the LD and DVD formats include additional tracks not found on the PAL and NTSC VHS formats. GM fans should definately acquire a copy of this video.

Summary: George Michael A True Recording Talent, Not Just A Pop Star
Review: Although George Michael has had his share of embarassing PR problems and legal setbacks, the truth is this British pop star is more than that-in reality he is under rated and under appreciated for his many talents. Michael is an accomplished songwriter and producer of some of the finely crafted pop and dance songs that exist as evidenced by what you can find on this DVD. Cinematically, Michael also has an eye for creating visually erotic classy videos of all types-some of his work here is very film noir, others have a flair for drama and miniature story telling. As good a performer as Michael is, where he really excels is his songwriting which can be compared to the lush production values and clever lyrics of one of the greatest songwriting teams of all time-Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb-the Bee Gees. Michael is an artist who has carefully honed his music career every step of the way and we are richer for having his songs be part of our culture. Any one who dismisses George Michael as a lightweight pop star just doesn't understand or appreciate the depth of his talent, hard work or intelligence.

Summary: I SAT, WATCHED, AND LISTENED WITH COMPLETE JOY. I WANT MORE!
Review: As usual, George Michael was everything I hoped he would be. I sat, watched and listened......... with total joy. I saw and heard no dissapointments. Although I had heard all of the songs there were some videos I had never seen. I was really impressed with "Spinning Wheel". But on the other hand, I do not understand "Jesus To A Child". I love and understand the song, but not the video. I think that my favorites were, and probably will always be "One More Try", "Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me", and "Careless Whisper". They really took me back. Years ago, it was "Careless Whispher", that caught my attention and "One More Try" that kept my attention. I can't wait to see and hear more of the work of the very talented, George Michael. I hope it's very soon. My hat goes off to ........Mr.George Michael.

Summary: Muy bueno...

Summary: Music great but visuals detract
Review: George has a really great voice. It is strong and has a lot of varity and colour. However I gave this DVD away as I just didnt like his style of videos. I almost kept it for the one concert clip as I think he is actaully at his best in a concert belting it out and connecting with his fans.
The videos are good visual quality and sound but watching one after the other back to back I found I was really put off by the progression of gyrating near-naked woman sexually provocative and pouting at the camera.
Hey - I dont see myself as a prude but I'm a woman and women just dont turn me on by being provocative. I don't need to share my living room with them in such quantity as they do nothing for me, I don't identify with them and for me they detract from George.
The best video clip for me was the simplest - George in white, on his own, really getting into and expressing the soul and mood of a song.
The question is why George has needed the women thing throughout his videos. Is it because this has become current video style (unfortunately)?
Is it because men like to communicate to other men their place in the pecking order by being able to attract and be surrounded by 'babes' (and isnt George's voice and standing beyond the need for those games?)
Was George trying to show he can hold his own in a straight world even though he has been 'bi-' in sexuality and when falling in love prefers men?
So why does he need this whole female thing when I'd guess most of his fans are women and like me arent turned on by this stuff so it misses the mark?
I havent seen myself as a women's lib type, and certainly not moralistic - but I really am, as a modern woman, rather tired of all the objectifying of women. George is about the last person who needs to keep flogging these sex images. He stands tall in all respects as an entertainer and he seems to be a genuinely nice guy who can afford to simplify and just share himself with audiences.
I've had the CD set that matches these videos so as these dont distract with the images bye-bye DVD - and hopefully looking forward to a George Michael concert DVD if one is ever released!
