Rating: Summary: A must have piece of history Review: This DVD contains awesome and terrible footage of 9-11 that all of us should review at least once a year. We should never forget. This DVD is a document of History and I think everyone should have it.
Rating: Summary: OUR FUTURE! Review: This dvd will remind us of the horrors of that day....which i think some of us have forgotten! Re-elect George W. Bush for president and reject Kerry. Let's keep America safe...not rebound to the poor foreign policy of the previous administration!
Rating: Summary: Always Remember Review: This film is incredible. It really touches the heart of the events that happened that day. I have seen a lot of videos from that day and this is by far the most informative. It really shows how people felt that day. I really think that one of the networks should show it again now because I really think a lot of people in this country have really forgotten the impact that was made on the United States that day. The number of deaths and the number of people that were injured along with those left behind. Children that never will see their parents again. Children that never even met one of their parents. Maybe then people would stop criticizing President Bush and realize that we are at war for a reason. We need to stop these terrorists from ever being able to do anything like this again. Don't let all those people from 9/11 die in vain! Don't let all those people whose lives were changed that day be forgotten.
Rating: Summary: Remembering the World Trade Center 9/11 Review: This HBO special is one of the best programs done on the September 11 attacks. As the title suggests, this focuses on New York City on September 11. Film and photographs from various sources come together to show the tragedy from all angles. You know how horrifying it was, but you don't realize the urgency of it until you see it from all angles of the city. The Honorable Rudy Guiliani gives his thoughts on the attack. You actually see him in some of the footage running away from the debris, reminding us he's just a normal person like everyone else in New York on that day. All the sadness is there. This is seen to remember what happened on that day. After the sadness, we see how the community came together to remember, and Daniel Rodriquez, the NYPD's famous singer, concludes the program by singing "God Bless America." A wonderfully done documentary on the World Trade Center's destruction and how it affected New Yorkers. The footage is graphic, but we must remember it happened.
Rating: Summary: In Memoriam - New York City, 9 /11/01 Review: This is a no-holds-barred look at the horrifying events that occurred in New York City, NY on September 11th, 2001. It's mesmerizing, extremely powerful and unnerving, and might be very difficult for some viewers. I'm usually not an emotional type of guy, but even I couldn't hold back the tears while watching this documentary. It brought back haunting memories and served as a harsh reminder of just how dark that fateful day really was. I've watched this documentary over a dozen times now and it never gets old or boring. It's a very compelling work of footage, interviews, and lots & lots of tears. Try to imagine what must've been going through the minds of all those innocent people who were trapped inside the burning buildings, all of them knowing that they were about to die, and there was nothing they or anyone else could do about it. Try to imagine what it must've been like for all the victims who jumped from the buildings and fell over a hundred stories to their deaths. That's the part that really gives me nightmares. But the bottomline is: Buy this DVD. It's the best 9/11 documentary I've seen so far, and I've seen quite a few of them. In Memoriam is the best ever.
Rating: Summary: Great content, poorly mastered Review: This is by far one of the best recollection of 9/11 I have seen. This is from the Mayor and staff's viewpoint. The footage is amazing and very deatiled and graphic at times, but while it can be disturbing it does not drive the horror home too much. The only bad thing is HBO cheaped out on the mastering of the DVD. The master looks grainy and like it ws done cheaply. I know the original is better becasue my SVHS tape of the orginal off air from satellite looks better than the DVD!
Rating: Summary: VERY DEEPLY MOVING! Review: This one had me crying. A definite must-have for your library of documentaries.
Rating: Summary: Outstanding...& the Profits Go To the Twin Towers Fund Review: This special is unparalled in bringing the disbelief, the shock, the horror, the confusion, and the strength of Americans to overcome a vicious terrorist attack. I'm surprised Amazon published the review entitled "Money Hungry". That reviewer didn't read the notes on the HBO site: "HBO and Brad Grey Pictures net proceeds from the home video release of this program will be donated to the Twin Towers Fund and other charities to benefit the victims of September 11th and their families... Most of the services and fees associated with the recording have been donated to the Twin Towers Fund, including the recording fee to the New York Philharmonic, provided by the New York Philharmonic; rental fee for Avery Fisher Hall, provided by Avery Fisher Hall/Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts; and the conductor’s fee, provided by Slatkin. Neumann USA donated all of the M150 Tube microphones used in the recording session." Seems to me that HBO could have a case against Amazon for printing "Money Hungry"'s statement that HBO was profiting from the 9/11 attack. Maybe Amazon could inform "Money Hungary" to read/research a supposition before "Money Hungary" and others jump to an erroneous conclusion. I noticed another reviewer made the the same claim. Tsk Tsk Amazon...you're falling asleep at the wheel.
Rating: Summary: Genuine memorium Review: Touching, human, without undue melodrama or hysterical hype. This was shown on ... Memorial Day; for me, reliving that morning in NYC in the very real, very gritty way it happened. But it brought the one "intangible" part of the experience right to the front-- that day was all about being in touch with other people, who were living through this moment by moment with you. That's the center of this piece, people. From Giuliani to the man on the street, it is the story of individuals. I don't want to see a lot of capitalizing on 9-11. I won't bother with the stream of books, videos and commemorative special anythings that are coming to market. But this is a genuine tribute, the memorial it titles itself as. Buy it.
Rating: Summary: Nothing else like it! Review: When I bought this I had no idea what exactly I expected. What I got was unbelieveable. My wife and I watched this together in stunned silence. Both of us were moved to tears many times during this film. The opening shots were absolutely devastating. I simply could not believe the footage that was captured of this travesty. This is a must own DVD. Get it. Don't even hesitate. Just buy it and I swear you won't regret it.
