Summary: Mandatory viewing
Review: The first time I saw this when it came out right after 9/11, I thought it should be mandatory viewing for all Americans, especially schoolchildren (despite the language).
I think this is the only footage of the first plane hitting the WTC; also only footage from inside before the collapse. Very inspiring. Heroes still exist and our children should know this.

Summary: Outstanding film about the firefighters
Review: This film gives a great look at what the firefighters went through that day...the confusion, heartache, shock, determination and love for each other as fellow firefighters. You want to experience what firefighters go through - see this film. Skillfully crafted to avoid the "gory" scenes...but you hear the bodies crashing onto the roofs and street in the audio - and see the look on the faces of the firefighters when it happens. Only film to capture the first aircraft hitting the building and scenes on the inside the lobby of the WTC during the rescue operation before building collapse.

If firefighters ever ask for more money & equipment in your community, see this film before you turn them down!!!

Summary: Will Never forget
Review: This Dvd is the best thing i've have ever seen. It shows america at its weekest but also at its strongest. everyone working together at a time of need. It help me to know what 9/11 really meant. It was kind of hard that day and this Dvd brings it back to life. I'll keep this dvd forever to show my kids some day.

Summary: A very moving and loving tribute
Review: This film is a must-see. The moments that stand out in my mind:

- After the film crew and firemen return to the firehouse:
Seeing Jules and Gedeon hugging (each thought the other was dead). Jules: "Has anyone see Gedeon?" Fireman: "He's right behind you."

- Fireman to one of the Naudet brothers: "Yesterday you had one brother. Today, you have 50."

- Hearing the sounds of the bodies hitting the ground.

- See Father Judge praying silently.

- At the end of the film, seeing the photos of the firefights who were lost while Danny Boy was playing.

Summary: The Pinnacle of 9/11 Documentaries
Review: Through the eye of the Naudet brothers camera's, the viewer is taken into the World Trade Center for the buildings' final few hours. It's hard to express my feelings towards this documentary in words without sounding redundant or mundane, but what has been said before is only reaffirmed by this film: The strength, and comradery of the FDNY cannot be measured by any means, but their sacrifice and bravery amazingly shines through in this piece, even as chunks of concrete and bodies hurtle to thr ground around them. This is definitely a DVD to keep around and show to my children 20 years from now, to show them what the spirit of America truly is, and to show them both the worst and best of mankind.

Always remember (like we could forget?).

Summary: Mom, Get The Tissues
Review: I'm not an over emotional person but this movie acutally made me cry. No one has any idea how those acts brought Hell to Manhattan until you see it in this movie. From running, screaming, to watching and hearing people jump from the towers this movie will make you laugh in the beginning, gasp in the middle and cry at the end. It's literally impossible to explain the feelings this movie brings out in someone unless you watch it yourself. From the regular days of a firefighter, to the first plane hitting, to the exploration of the wreckage, this movie shows it all. It is something all true Americans should watch and buy to always remember, not that we won't anyway, that dreadful horrible day, 9/11.

Summary: Riveting
Review: Fascinating, riveting. Of all the documentaries I have watched on the subject of the terrible tragedies of 9/11, this is the finest. There is such tension watching the activities of the young "proby" Tony as he prepares for his career in firefighting and the timeline moves closer to the fateful day. We do not even know if he survives the event .. as we get to know him, there is great fear that perhaps he did not.

Such poignant moments, innocently shot, such as the scene where Tony is being coached on the night of September 10, with the twin towers in the background. A wave of sadness hit me when I saw that -- this must have been one of the last shots of the buildings when they were whole.

There are priceless images of survivors and witnesses filmed by the Naudet brothers. You really get the feeling of what it was like to be there that day -- the shock of the witnesses who were in the area of the twin towers when the plane hit is so vivid in this film. We see the concern on their faces and hear snippets of conversation. One in particular worrying how the people are going to get out of the building stands out in my memory. The growing horror in realizing that they may NOT get out -- how shocking to people who have been living an ordinary day to that point. These images and sounds, shot up close and not from helicopters or distant vantage points like most of the coverage we saw that day, gives a truly human dimension to the tragedy.

The Naudet brothers did an excellent job in this film. There is a sense that it is an honest film, and no feeling that they are trying to be exploitative or sensational in releasing it. I am glad they did, because it has really helped me to come to terms with it. At one point in the film, one of the brothers despairs that he is useless because he can't help anyone -- he has no medical skills or firefighting skills. He is wrong .. his witnessing camera is his gift to all of us, allowing us to be there with the firefighters and the many who suffered so greatly.

Summary: extremely powerful!!!!!
Review: When two filmmakers start out to make a documentary about a probationary firefighter, they stumble onto the most gripping documentary I have ever seen.
Before this movie I always thought of the F.D.N.Y as heroes but afterwards I now have faces, names, and powerful stories to put with it.
You must see this movie!!!!!
