Summary: 9/11
Review: If you want to buy one DVD about 9/11, buy this DVD. This film is an upclose and personal look at the events of 9/11 in NYC. It's the best DVD about 9/11. Be aware, there are some disturbing moments when you hear bodies crashing to the ground as the firefighters are standing at the command center inside Tower 1.

Summary: Engaging from beginning to end.
Review: This film locks you in and holds onto you the entire production. It gave me a completely different view on what really occured on that ominous day in history. It also gave me a whole new respect for the heroes of that day, and the firefighters who risk thier life every day for us. The hairs on my neck stood up several times due to the realism of the live footage. Highly recommended. Proably THE best inside look from the ground up on 9/11. Extremely well done. Truly a must see for everyone.

Summary: The most powerful documentary of 9/11 available!
Review: This was the most visually stunning, moving, amazing and incredible story I've ever experienced. Quite frankly, even those adjectives just cannot describe it. I can't just choose one scene that stood out for me. I suppose if I had to list a few it would be the reactions of the fireman to the crashing sound of jumping victims; the reaction of people trapped in the elevator, who were unaware of what was going on, as they finally emerge to the horrific scene; the shock and disbelief of the onlookers; and finally the silence.

This documentary vividly reveals this disturbance. The feelings are so incredibly visual. The anger, the frustration, the shock, the fear, the exhaustion, and the realization of its very magnitude. It's all there. Not a thing is missed.

This is a powerful and most moving documentary and well deserving of the Emmy. Not just because it documents 9/11 but because it is simply everything it should be.

Summary: A sensationalist piece of trash??? No way.....
Review: Living in Australia, it was quite hard to really appreciate the horror that New Yorkers faced on the morning of 9/11/01. I, like everyone else, saw the most horridly graphic images on TV, and was deeply moved and disturbed to not only see such barbaric death, but to also realise that if such a disgusting act could be commited on US soil, then it could happen anywhere. Though New york is thousands of miles from Australia- how could I really appreciate the impact on their lives?
Then I came across this DVD. I was in two minds about buying it - did I really want to see those graphic images again? Once it had arrived, it was a few weeks before I actually watched it. But I'm glad I did....
I don't think I have seen such a well crafted documentary. Initially concieved as a documentary on a rookie firefighter, the crew were filming near the WTC when the first plane hit. This, of course, changed the course the documentary. But this isn't a documentary on what happened at the WTC on 9/11, but rather it is a look through the eyes of the firefighters who were responding to a situation that no one could have predicted to turn out as it did. What is so compelling about this documentary though is you are actually there with the firefighters - in the lobby of the first tower to be hit, you are there when they collapse - you get to see the danger they faced, and their sensitive professionalism. This is by no means a piece of sensational trash - there are no carbon copy 'reporters' with lucid tones designed to stir the emotion and thereby increase their ratings. But rather you have the story told by firefighters, and the camera lense which went side by side with the firefighters...
Is it sad?? Yes. Do you want to relive the horror of that day? Perhaps not. But one thing this DVD will show you is that when faced with adversity, the human spirit can be an amazing thing.
Firefighters (and others such as police, rescue workers, paramedics etc) are the real heros of this world. They are the ones who make a REAL difference in our lives.

Summary: Chilling/Evocative 9/11 Documentary
Review: This is truly one of the most amazing films I have ever seen. I would not immediately recommend it to anyone who lost a good friend or loved one in the towers, as the details you learn in the video are very difficult to process. I didn't have a direct connection to anyone in the towers, but I felt a profound sense of grief when I watched this documentary. I can't begin to imagine what it must have been like for the people who experienced it firsthand.

Having said that, I would also call this documentary a must-see. It doesn't dramatize the situation in any way. It's just very honest and truthful. You grieve with the firefighters and police officers, but you also swell with tremendous pride for their efforts. You wish with all your heart that you could tell them what was going to happen. Of all the 9/11 documentaries, this is the one that I would want my children to watch when they are old enough to understand and handle the issues. It gives the best presentation of what that day was like in American history.

Summary: Another tv movie that has come out on video and dvd
Review: The reason Gedeon and Jules Naudet was in New York filiming this, was not of the planes crashing into the north and south towers of the World Trade Center, but to film the life of a rookie fire fighter. And the person being filmed is Tony Benetatos. This is not a movie with actors playing people (even in real life), but these are real fire fighters. The brothers started filming in either June or July, and even though most of the summer was very slow of the brothers, Tony Benetatos and the rest of the fire fighters. Until September 11, when the brothers was filming the fire fighters that was on duty on September 11, working on a gas leak (near the World Trade Center), when a plane was heard roaring in the air, and the brothers got thier camreas really fast to view the plane crashing into the north tower. And starting filming the fire fighters in and around the World Trade Center. And after a while the south tower was hit, and about a hour after getting hit and on fire, the south tower fell to the ground, and about 30 minutes later the north tower (still on fire) fell to the ground. But it is also amazing that the brothers surived the whole thing and been able to finish the movie. Plus this a rare movie with no actors playing the people of 911 or anything else. Plus it is hard to beieve that the World Trade Center was ugly during the daytime and beautiful at nighttime. And you don't aways have to wait to catch this on tv, or wait until 9/11 each year to watch this (if you have bought this on video or dvd). Watching this, I am glad that I was not in New York and by the World Trade Center on the morning of 9-11-01 or even when (both towers fell). Also good, is that it didn't talk until 60 years to have a documety on the World Trade Center to come out. And even watching real live people insteado f watching actors playing people who was at or arouund tbe World Trade Center on the moring of 9/11/01.

Summary: Who needs a reminder? Maybe we all do.
Review: I bought this after much debate. However, having lived through other great tragic events (JFK's assasination in particular) I realized that they can become distant memories; allowing me to pretend that the world can never be that cruel. I only have to view this to remind me.

Summary: An Amazing Piece of History
Review: This DVD is a must see. A depiction of the horrible events with brutal honesty, yet at the same time avoiding gore for the sake of gore.

I think this documentary will become a classic for all time, ranking up there with the Zapruder film and any of Ken Burns's masterpiece.

As an Emergency Services worker who actually responded to Liberty State Park that fateful morning, this movie holds special meaning for me. It is an accurate reflection of the bonds of brotherhood and the willingness to sacrifice that exist, espcially in the FDNY. I know I will never forget that day or my experiences; this movie is the perfect way to make sure those memories stay clear and focused.

Lest we ever forget.

Summary: breath taking and heart breaking
Review: I saw this on television. It offers an insider's view of the fire fighter's struggle inside the towers. I am glad to be able to get a copy.

Summary: Outstanding Movie
Review: There are very few films like this one. On the morning of September 11, 2001 most Americans were going about their normal business, much like the firemen checking a reported gas leak (being filmed by two Frenchmen producing a documentary). Then it happened. The camera caught the first hit and followed the unit it was attached to all the way to the WTC and into the lobby with the firemen. The rest is history.

This film puts the viewer inside the lobby of Tower 1 as the events rapidly unfold (falling bodies, the second crash, collapse of Tower 2, etc.). It is quite disturbing.

The film also shows a stark contrast between the masses on the street jibber-jabbering in all kinds of foreign languages, high-tailing it out of the area and the English-speaking firemen heading towards danger with incredible resolve and bravery.

The only bad element to me is the language. The cussing was uneccessary, and should have been edited out. CBS thought is was appropriate however to violate FCC laws, but we know what type runs that operation.
