Rating: Summary: Hypnotized by Terror Review: I saw this on TV then bought it.A gripping documentary, through the lens of a camera that shouldn't have been there. The portion where the firefighters are at work inside World Trade 1 is hypnotizing. The look in the men's eyes, the sights and sounds as they occur. The collapse of Tower 2 while the guys are still in the first tower. It's hard to explain just what you will feel as you see it all again, up close and personal, especially if you are directly affected by these events. I was hypnotized. Hard to watch, harder not to.
Rating: Summary: from unphased to moved Review: I just finished watching this video on TV, and honestly, when I first saw what happened to the WTC all over the net and all over TV a year ago, I wasn't emotionally effected by what I was hearing and seeing. I just went on with my life like nothing ever happened. Probably because I just didn't understand what it was like to go through what everyone who was there went through. But when I saw on the video the planes hit the towers, and hearing the bodies hit the ground with a loud crash, and hearing the first tower collapsing while the camera man was still inside, etc... It really got to me. Anyway, it's a must see.
Rating: Summary: Making money with 9/11?? Review: . If CBS/Amazon are making money with this 9/11 product, instead of using it for charity (nothing is specified about such an issue for this product), I will find it pretty offensive, like the cruel jokes that you could see via email right after 9/11 occured. It is annoying to see people selling 9/11 merchandise near ground zero. They are working, they say. Is suffering profitable? I ask. I've been a customer of Amazon but I find this to be a bad taste/cruel joke. Such a joke could be a good reason to stop being a customer for its offensive character. Many people from different internet forums are expressing concern about this and that was the way I knew about this DVD title. Are CBS/Amazon spreading a good message to do some charity, or is it about money using other people suffering? Where do we draw the line of ethics? Sorry for being harsh and annoying, but I feel annoyed as I see an attempt of making money with 9/11 suffering. I don't expect this comment to be posted in the site. I feel annoyed for what I see and it is the most sincere thing I can say. I hope either money is given to charity or product is retired from the market. Making profit with suffering is immoral.
Rating: Summary: Putting it into perspective Review: I just watched this on CBS and have been frantically trying to call my husband, half a world away, so that he can watch it where he is. He and I have been trying very hard to come to grips with what went on that day, but have found the wallowing in sentimentality and tears overwhelming. This film truly rammed home to me the scope of what those courageous men and women faced that horrid day. I could not fathom the amount of destruction they encountered, the sheer enormity of rubble and debris that blocked their efforts at rescue. The filmmakers truly caught the spirit of the day, and helped me answer some of the questions that I'd been harboring, such as why did so many firefighters and law enforcement personnel die? The answer becomes painfully obvious when the filmmaker documented the absolute chaos inside that building. I wish this film had simply been what it started out to be, a simple documentary about a probie with the NYFD. But sometimes wishes just can't come true.
Rating: Summary: An unforgettable "you are there" experience. Review: This mesmerizing film puts you in a New York firehouse and gives you a feeling for what the experience was like for some of the firefighters doing their jobs that horrible day. I'm glad to say that, according to Paramount Home Video: "A portion of the proceeds from the sale of '9/11 : the Filmmakers' Commemorative Edition' will be donated to the Uniformed Firefighters Association Scholarship Fund."
Rating: Summary: A Must Review: This DVD is a must to remember one of the darkest days in US history. It shows the only known footage of the first plane hitting the World Trade Center and also the only known footage shot inside the Trade Center after the planes hit. I think this is the one to own to show people many years from now what happened on that sad September 11 2001
Rating: Summary: 9/11 Review: I could not leave the TV screen...the raw emotion caught by these brothers is awesome...they day unfolds in front of you thru the camera...film footage seen absolutely nowhere else...some of those scenes and sounds are branded in my mind...I've told many people, this is a must see and purchase.
Rating: Summary: Painful, but important, to watch. Review: This documentary is powerful. The early scenes nearly recreate our pre-9/11 perceptions, and viewers are caught up in the original storyline of this documentary--the early days of a new firefighter's job. But viewers can't shake the foreboding sense of what's to come, and it's a sickening anticipation. This film is emotionally wrenching, but it's also enlightening, giving a fuller appreciation of what was involved in rescue attempts and the drive that led to heroism. The images are, of course, haunting. The sounds are disturbing. But this is clearly a tribute and never appears to be exploiting the events of 9/11. It's a memorial experience, and remembering this event is painful and important.
Rating: Summary: I gave it one star because I can't give it zero Review: Who's making money off this?
Rating: Summary: THE FILMMAKER'S COMMEMORATIVE EDITION 9/11 Review: WHEN I FIRST VIEWED THE AFOREMENTIONED DOCUMENTARY I WAS AND STILL AM IN 9/11 TRAUMA. I FELT THAT THIS DOCUMENTARY, FROM THE POINT OF VIEW OF TWO FRENCH BROTHER'S WAS INDEED BRILLIANT AND CALMING IF ONE CAN BELIEVE THIS IS POSSIBLE. FOR A YEAR WE HAVE BEEN BOMBARDED WITH CNN AND EVERY TELEVISION CHANNEL WANTING TO SHOW "THEIR" VIEWS WHICH BY NOW MAKES AN AMERICAN FEEL THAT THESE SO CALLED COMMUNICATORS ARE NOTHING BUT OPPORTUNIST AT THE COST OF THE LIVES OF THOSE LOST, THEIR FAMILIES, AMERICAN'S LIKE MYSELF LIVING IN NORTHERN NEW MEXICO WHO TO THIS DAY IS STILL EXPERIENCING SADNESS, LOSS BUT NOT FEAR. I HAVE ACTUALLY CANCELLED MY SATELLITE SERVICE AS IT PERTAINS TO ANY CHANNEL THAT HAS ABUSED WHAT HAPPENED TO OUR COUNRTY ON 9/11/01/ TO ME CNN, CBS, NBC AND ABC HAVE AD NAUSEUM AND DISRESPECT FILLED OUR SCREENS WITH PHOTO'S OF THAT DAY WHICH WE HAVE SEEN AND HAVE ABUSED MY INTELLIGENCE WITH THEIR SUBLIMINAL AND CONSTANT SHOWING "OF THE SAME SCENE'S."! IF A NEWS ORGANIZATION WANTS TO CONTRIBUTE IN A PROFESSIONAL AND SENSITIVE WAY THEY SHOULD BEGIN INVESTIGATING WHY, WHO AND WHAT CAUSED THIS! WHEN I SAW THE DOCUMENTARY BY THE FRENCH BROTHERS I FELT SOME PEACE ALTHOUGH IT CERTAINLY WAS GRAPHIC BUT A NON-AMERICAN HAD AND IN THIS CASE TWO FOREIGN BROTHERS WERE ABLE TO PRESENT AMERICA WITH NFORMATION AND NOT A HOLLYWOOD MEGABUSTER VERSIONS! MAY THESE AND OTHER PHOTOJOURNALIST KNOW THAT WHAT THEY HAVE CREATED WAS DONE WITH DIGNITY AND RESPECT FOR AMERICA. GOD BLESS US AND THE REST OF THE WORLD WHO SO BEAUTIFULLY SHOWED THEIR SENSITIVITY AND SUPPORT. I AM AN AMERICAN INDIAN WHO HAS LIVED THROUGH MANY A POLITICAL AND BETRAYED LIFE SO TO SPEAK. ON 9/11 AS PATRIOTIC AS I HAVE BEEN IT ONLY INCREASED MY BELIEF IN MY COUNTRY AND IN THE CIVILIZED WORLD. THANK YOU FOR OFFERING ME THIS TIME TO EXPRESS MYSELF. ONLY IN AMERICA.
