Summary: Darkman is out there
Review: "Darkman" is a good action movie and features a great performance from Liam Neeson. Scientist Peyton Westlake (Liam Neeson) and his partner are trying to create an antidote in the form of recreated skin from a model, for people with damaged skin, such as burns or scars. Some criminals kill Peyton's partner and blow up the whole lab, and Peyton gets injured so severely that everybody thinks he is dead, even his girlfriend, Julie (Frances McDormand). Peyton will do anything he can to get his hands on the criminals that destroyed his life and made him into this unknown madman.

"Darkman" has some great special effects, a good plot, and best of all, great acting. After he's injured, Peyton becomes a totally different person by developing a flaming temper. Liam Neeson does so good of a job that it will make you wonder who the real criminal is, Peyton or the men that destroyed everything he had.

"Darkman" is like many kinds of movies wrapped into one. It's mainly an action movie, but it has both sci-fi and horror characteristics involved in parts. If you like great action movies, I would recommend getting "Darkman." The two sequels to the movie are also good, but this one is the best.

Summary: Batman meets Freddy Krueger...
Review: I recently bought this film for £5.99 (which aint bad) after seeing the film on satellite. No one should take it seriously as with the EVIL DEAD films, it's horror, action and comical. It seems strange that it's 10 years old now, as the quality is still good. Lots of comical scenes, violence and action. I cannot help but like this film.

Summary: Excellent
Review: This is one of the better movies based off comic book elements. Everything is done in good taste and will satisfy fans of the genre as well as others who happen to watch it. Neeson is perfect as the hero and Larry Drake is awesome as the bad guy.

Summary: Another Sam Raimi masterpiece!
Review: Sam Raimi is undisputedly my favorite director, and he nearly tops himself with this chillingly real, action-packed film, based off the comic book. Liam Neeson is perfect as Peyton Westlake, a devoted scientist that is trying desperately hard to discover a way to make replacement skin for burn victims. Just as Westlake realizes what is causing the skin to destablize, the evil Durant, in search of a document that could destroy his employer, puts Westlake through perpetual hell before destroying his entire laboratory and leaving him for dead. His plan backfires and Westlake is still alive and well, with every nerve ending in his body severed by the doctors who saved his life, making him impervious to any pain. Despite this advantage, he is left completely scarred and burned beyond the recognition of anyone, including his fiancee. In what is probably the most clever set up in the history of film Westlkae plans his revenge by using his skin technology to make himself look like anyone. Eventually, Durant and his employer catch on, and Westlake is left with no choice but to end the conflict once and for all, and finalize his revenge. The action never stops for the plot to develop, it simply takes the plot along for the ride. I absolutely loved this film. It was beautifully shot by Bill Pope, and the screenplay (written by five people) conveys every emotion that Westlake feels perfectly. This film may not be the masterpiece that "Army of Darkness," or "Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn" is, but it ranks as one of Sam Raimi's best. Go rent it!

Summary: Sam Raimi is awesome!
Review: I loved this movie, it wasn't as good as the Sam Raimi flicks that came later, but you can see were things got their start. A step up from Evil Dead one and two. But definetly not as good as Quick and the Dead or even For the Love of the Game. Excellent plot, Liam Neeson is awesome, intelligence wins in the end as well as love. The special effects when Neeson's character starts going through little mental breakdowns are a little odd but nothing unusual fro Raimi's films. At times the revenge plot wears a little thin but those times can be overlooked a little when you see just how stupid the bad guys are! Definetley recommend.

Summary: WOW!
Review: There are some comic book movies that are just laughable. This isn't one of them. Although comic-bookish, it is still done in good taste and is loaded with the kinetic energy needed to make a action movie. The "tragic hero" is there and is put to good use.

Summary: I'm surprised Neeson hasn't burned all the copies
Review: This has got to be one of the worst movies ever made. In fact, the only thing that made it worth watching for the group of us who suffered through it one rainy afternoon was the sheer amount of MST3K-like abuse we could heap on it with little or no effort. It's a real stinker with horrific acting (yes, even Liam Neeson), a weak plot, a ridiculous screenplay, and a laughable ending that seems to have been scripted by an unpopular teenage boy set on making a statement that being a stubbornly lonesome outcast is heroic. If you're not in the mood for an evening of wide-eyed disbelief that a movie could be THIS BAD, save your money. On the other hand, it does have the same sort of unexplainable tragic attraction that leads people to stare at car accidents on the side of the road, and if you're the type of person who likes to point and laugh at the truly inane, this movie might be for you. I can't imagine for whom else it might have been made.

Summary: Maded me want to make movies.
Review: This is the kind of movie that changes the way the public views images in film. Bill Pope learns a lot in this film that is perfected in The Matrix. What can you say but if you liked this movie you are a member of the future of the world. If you hated it because of the lack of a good script or because it's no Bogart film, then you are still a part of the Matrix.
