Review: Yes, This movie is quite incredible. Its another must for any horror fan, and just like the other Evil Dead films, it delivers quite nicely. I love everything about this movie. The combo of comedy and gore and the one-liners that Bruce Campell delivers are classic. "This is my boomstick", "Gimme some shuga baby", and "Hail to The King", are all great. I also like the story and Ash not saying the words right really added to it. Gory?, very. Hillarious?, Very. My favorite scenes include the battle with Ash and Evil Ash, the attack of the tiny little Ash's and when the skeleton army shows up. The effects are good as well. JUST BUY IT!

Review: *THIS REVIEW IS IN REFERENCE TO THE NEW "BOOMSTICK EDITION" TWO DISK SET*Ok, if you're on this page, there's a good chance you've already seen this movie and are torn between purchasing another copy or not. If you already have the Bootleg Edition, or one of the many other editions of this film that have been released over the years, then you're probably going to feel jipped after you read this. Sorry. Anyways, what this DVD set basically includes is two previously released DVDs in one package. Those being the standard edition and the Bootleg edition. Which, if you're looking to upgrade from your old VHS copy or something, it's a really good deal. Since buying the two DVDs seperately would cost a lot more than just buying this package. For the person who already has an AOD DVD I wouldn't recommend, unless you really want the directors cut version of it since you'd probably end up with two copies of the same DVD. But if you're a hardcore fanatic and are feeling like shelling out the asking price for the nifty new 8 page collectors booklet. Go for it. That's what I'm buying it for. The fact that the "Bootleg" edition didn't come with the theatrical ending is also a reason I'm purchasing this DVD set. I give it five stars because...Well, it's a great film and though it may be a little late for a release like this, it's the thought that counts. Thanks Anchor Bay.

Summary: Hail to the King...Baby!
Review: This is the third installment of the unholy trilogy...or should I say trinity? By far the campiest of the three and by all means the
only true comedy in the bunch. It was a sad day for all of mankind when Sam Rami completely sold out and directed a Kevin Costner baseball movie. But have no fear, Bruce Cambell is still the man, and if anyone can save Sam, it's him. Bruce lives here in the Rogue Valley and he's a very nice, hilarious man. Just don't ask him for an autograph...

Summary: Army of Darkness
Review: "Klatu Barata Nikto" - the entirety of the plot depends upon those magic words {which ironically are not actually in Necronomicon}, to whether ot not "the dead shall arise to devour the living" - yet that last phrase is in Necronomicon. Just remember, when attempting to possess the book, utter those words exactly, lest you release the dead & invoke all manner of chaos. Ash {Bruce Campbell} returns in this part three film of the Evil Dead series. But where the first two films focused primarily on insanity, which is entertaining or disturbing, depending upon who is viewing the presentation, part three lapses into much more of a comedic vein, likened very much the Hercules / Xena brand of humor, which may have actually derived from these films. 3 immediately resumes where 2 left off, transporting Ahe through the portal from the present into the past, circa mideival Ireland, complete with car, rifle, & the chainsaw which replaces the hand he amputated to be rid of the "evil" possessing it, which in itself made for quite a hilarious scene. He is made a prisoner of war when he virtually "falls from the sky", & despite the recognition of the resident wiseman as the one prophesied as the deliverer / savior of their people, is instead identified as being a member of the opposing army's memvership, & is placed in chains & shackels along with a leader of the enemy, to meet their fate in "The Pit", an abyss containing several monsters who mutilate & kill whomever is thrown down into it - a veritable sacrificial pit. So poor Ash is forced to do his first battle with a couple of ghouls, until the wiseman, who resembles Merlin, toses in the chainsaw. Ash makes quick work ofthem, decapitating one, blasting another with his "boom stick", as he explained to the bloodthirsty peasants. And finally, he is acknowledged as the prophesied deliverer of the people. He must acquire The Necronomicon from a cemetary, but is admonished to speak the afore-mentioned binding words of spell, but unfortunately, at the last moment, forgets the last word, eventuallcausing the dead, an army of darkness, to arise to do battle with mortals, but not before he must divulge the correct book from the three set upon an altar in the graveyard, experiencing the plights that each false one presents. Subsequently, Ash has run-ins with impish clones of himself, a demon who flies off with a sweet damsel, who becomes possessed by the nefarious gloom besetting the land, but she is eventually released of the influence of the King of The Dead, who multiplied himself himself from the flesh of Ash during that scene with the miniature imp-clones which became reminiscient of Gulliver's Travels. Ash teaches the mortal army a few new tricks, & prepares for the arrival of the excarnate nemesis in skeletal form. The remainder of the movie consists of Xena-esque battles until the book is preserved, victory is hailed, & Ash is returned to the present, where he rgails the apathetic S-Mart co-workers with tales of his explits. But again, he did not utter the words of Spell completely, & the results are made evident when a she-demon in the form of a hideous hag attacks his girlfriend {*There is another scene earler in the movie when another hag appeared to kill anyone who woild deem to possess the book*}, to which the warrior Ash surfaces once more, to battle another denizen of the dark. Overall, Army of Dakness is a comedy, not really something that would give you a fright, but will tickle your funny "bone'. Personally, I prefer the first two over this version, for the more occultic references, focusing on the mythology of Necronomicon lore, & some of the more horriffic scenes. The FX are remarkable however; well-hewn demonic creatures, the skeletal army is superbly done, & the environments are crafted quite appropriately, especially the cemetary. A classic Horror-Comedy.

Summary: Great movie, but another SE DVD?
Review: For the sake of clarity, I just want to say that there is no way I could review any version of Army of Darkness without giving it five stars. It is a modern classic which I can watch over and over again. Seeing the Tiny Evil Ashes take on Ash causes me to laugh out loud with every "My fair lady." Having said that, I can't imagine why they are releasing yet another SE DVD set of it. I own the 2-disc Limited Edition which came out a few years ago. I can't find anything different about this new "Boomstick Edition" that isn't on the old Limited Edition. Both have the original theatrical release and the director's cut with 15 additional minutes of footage. Both have the Men Behind The Army featurette. Both have the Raimi, Campbell, Raimi commentary. The only thing I've noticed so far is that the Boomstick edition comes with some kind of 10 page collectible book which my LE set didn't have. But unless they made some drastic changes to either the video or audio to clear up imperfections which I never noticed in the first place, I couldn't justify buying this new edition. But if you don't yet own Army of Darkness, don't be a primitive screwhead. Click on the Buy It Now link and get it.

Review: Just when you thought it was safe, good old Anchor Bay DVD has released yet again, another edition of ARMY OF DARKNESS. Many would say "what are you people thinking?!" while I would say "bring it on!" ARMY OF DARKNESS has got to be one of my favorite films of all time and I cant wait to get this new edition! For all you newcomers to the series, this a perfect edition to buy because it has practically every special feature possible! It includes both the theatrical and director's cut versions which I have been waiting for since forever! I'm not going to get into the plot because I dont want to spoil anything for all you newcomers out there! To sum it up, this is an awesome movie full of laughs, scares, ultra cheap special effects and best of all Bruce "Dont call me Ash" Campbell! Catch ya later!

Review: Ok, here you have the best version of this movie currently available. It's way better than the previous version, but I only give it 4 stars as the truly definitive version is supposed to be out soon titled either 'Boomstick' or 'I've Got Your Boomstick' or something else like that, which is also the name of the forthcoming video game. I love this movie, and this version pulls the whole thing more toward the horror side of things, putting it more in line with the previous two Evil Dead movies. If you're a fan, you already own this.

Summary: Decent Flick Ruined By Poor Transfer
Review: I have been a fan of the Evil Dead Trilogy for a few years now and when I heard the director's cut was coming out for Army of Darkness I made sure to pick it up. Most of the time the transfer of the video is great, but whenever it shifts to the new bits added, the video quality becomes nothing short of horrible. That really pulls me out of the movie and that knocks 2 stars off the score It really is a shame they didn't take the extra effort to remaster the new scenes added in. Hopefully the new "boomstick" edition due out in March will feature a vastly improved transfer, that would be reason enough for me to buy it.
