Rating: Summary: Actually, the Dead Love the Living Review: Ever since Bela Lugosi began the zombie genre back in the 30s, Hollywood thought of the idea that the dead might walk the earth solely in terms of gothic and serious horror. The zombies of that era were usually centered in Haiti and were under the mind control of a demented shaman. It did not occur to anyone that zombies might have a gentler, even humorous side. Certainly, when George Romero brought out his LIVING DEAD trilogy, the notion that the walking dead must be the height of seriousness was etched in stone. Yet, in the 80s with the EVIL DEAD series of director Sam Raimi, Hollywood saw an opportunity to inject some much needed life into a moribund genre. Now, by 2000, director David Parker continues this tremendously amusing, albeit gory, trend with THE DEAD HATE THE LIVING. The plot can be seen as a humorous version of the 'young kids get their comeuppance' so popular in slasher movies of the 80s. Other, less understanding critics simply label this film and others of its ilk as unabashed ripoffs of earlier, better known walking dead movies. The truth is that both approaches have merit.TDHTL is a funny satire on the making of walking dead movies, exactly like this one. Director Parker uses unknown youthful actors who play actors in a zombie film. Thus, as in HAMLET, you have a movie-within-a-movie. But unlike HAMLET, the events of TDHTL present the inner movie as far more interesting than the outer. A nearly financially broke and probably bereft of talent group of teens are shooting a walking dead movie in a spooky house that is actually a conduit to another dimension from which its walking dead now find ready passage to the world of our dimension. One of the more subtle ironies is that it takes some real talent to portray actors of no talent. Eric Clawson and Matt Stephens are convincingly and humorously horrified as the leads. What Director Parker presents is yet another variation on the consequences of attempting to Go Where Man Is Not Supposed to Go. The results are gory, spectacular, and quite unnerving. The difference between TDHTL and its more serious ancestors--say ZOMBIE--is that the viewer has nearly as much fun watching the ketchup fly as do the actors tossing that same ketchup around. The fun is contagious, and this I suggest is what an entertaining movie is supposed to do.
Rating: Summary: Low Budget-High entertainment for horror fans! Review: Full Moon has done an outstanding job on a low budget gore fest. The acting is average but the storyline is great. A group of amature filmmakers open a doorway to a zonbie world when they discover a dead body and a coffin like doorway to another world that re-animates the evil Dr. Ebon. I recommend that any Romero, Fulci, or Argento fan to check this one out.
Rating: Summary: Well the producers thought it was scary! Review: Funny, i used to be a Fan Club Member of Full Moon Entertainment when i was 18 (about 10 years ago)..i got an offical FM T-shirt, membership card, and monthly newsletters! I have to give to them, they produced some great low budget horror films like Demonic Toys, Head of the family, Castle Freak, and my favorite Puppet master and all it's sequels..they weren't really scary but fun to watch and you can tell this company cared about it's fans in giving them what they wanted. Fast forward to the Year 2000 to now, what has happened to Full moon? I mean i haven't stopped watching their movies but they sure have made me want too with the last few films i've seen especially this piece of Garbage "THE DEAD HATE THE LIVING"..what the hell were they thinking? Filmmakers know that these movies sell and there's alot of people just waiting for the next zombie film to come out like i am but this is certainly not the one! Terrible acting, Terrible lighting, Terrible soundtrack (yes, yes..we know, rock and zombies go together!) and Terrible artwork on the DVD cover (just wanted to add that as well). The only thing that's good about this film is the price but if your hungry, save it for food..you'll be more satisfied! (and forget about using it as a freesbie, it doesn't really fly good too!) SHAME ON YOU..FULL MOON ENTERTAINMENT AND EVERYONE INVOLVED WITH THIS AWEFUL DVD!
Rating: Summary: ...and the living hate this movie. Review: Garbage. This movie is complete garbage. Nothing to see here, and this is from someone who loves a wide variety of horror movies. Instead of wasting any time watching this movie, go rent 'The Video Dead' or something else that's at least "funny", perhaps, in it's awfulness. Absolutely terrible.

Rating: Summary: FINALLY A NEW ZOMBIE FILM Review: Great little film, loved all the horror references. I am happy to have a new zombie movie in an age where zombie films are few and far between. I hope we see some more zombie films from parker! Only real gripe are some of the CG scenes (the flames were just bad!) other then that it is a pretty well made film that zombie fans will love i know i do!
Rating: Summary: The dead hate the living and we hate the dead Review: Hm. Okay,if you like films that are so self-referential, then you will love this. Everything from Fulci, to Argento, is mentioned in the "clever and witty" dialogue. But, if like me, you want to see something original, then it would be best to give this a wide birth. References to other films does not make this film good. I truly felt bored watching this and just wanted the whole thing to finally end. If you want a decent Zombie flick, then go out and buy DAWN OF THE DEAD or ZOMBIE by Lucio Fulci.
Rating: Summary: Almost unwatchable! Review: I had to sit through this just because i love zombie flicks. This is still not the worst zombie movie i've seen, (see Zombie island massacre) but it is a very close second. Filmed in ten days with a budget of $150,000. It shows.
Rating: Summary: Best living dead movie since the 80's ! Review: I have to admit that since this is a full moon movie i really wasn't expecting much but i couldn't have been more wrong this movie rocks ! it has a solid story with awsom effects that are simmiler to the 80's splatter effects (no computer generated b.s. here!) it even has a great sound effects and a rocking sound track if your into gorry horror flicks you will love this! the dvd has the makeing of the movie and all kind of extras you will not be dissapointed go for it !
Rating: Summary: Very Fresh, Creative Twist to the Undead Review: I just finished watching this movie and WOW. For a low budget horror movie, this was very good. I never really expect too much from Full Moon Movies. I love em though. The movie was very colorful in a dark kinda way. The actors brought life to their characters (not all of them, but most). I am going to buy this movie to add to my full moon collection...rent, see and buy this movie.
