Rating: Summary: King's Crowning Glory -- A Creepy Comedy Delight! Review: Stephen King serves up 5 "bite-size" episodes of creepy stories reminiscent of the 1950s horror magazine craze. The introduction and conclusion, a side-plot in itself, are nice wrapping for the individual stories inbetween. One story has Hal Holbrook as a long suffering college professor who is given a once-in-a-lifetime chance to be rid of his attractive but foul-mouthed, boozing, gutter-snipe, b**ch of a wife (marvelously played by Adrienne Barbeau). Another great episode involves an excentric elderly millionaire with a phobia about roaches who has to face his greatest fear (literally). -- Although horror is not one of my favorite genres, I do enjoy watching "Creepshow" occasionally. This is probably the only horror film I've ever seen at a theatre, and it was worth it. Since the 1982 release I've watched the film several times, always looking for those favorite scenes. -- Look for cameos by Leslie Nielsen, Ted Danson, and Stephen King himself.
Rating: Summary: Great Film....TERRIBLE Transfer Review: This is a great movie. It's fun. It's original. And best of all, it's quite demented!Every story, with the exception of "The Lonsesome Death of Jordy Verill" is fantastic. I won't waste my time reviewing each of the stories, because, let's face it...Anybody that's read or seen a Stephen King book or movie knows that it's gonna be a fun ride.Instead, this review is dedicated to the poor transfer of "Creepshow" to DVD. In a nutshell, it is simply one of the worst transfers I have EVER seen! The picture wobbles like an ill positioned film projector! A caption on the box SHOULD read: "Watching this may cause motion sickness....Do NOT watch while operating heavy machinery." Unfortunately, due to copyright laws, I cannot return a movie that I have already opened for a refund. I guess I'll probably stash this piece of garbage in "The Crate" under the stairs.
Rating: Summary: CREEPSHOW IS THE BEST HORROR FLICK IN THE WHOLE UNIVERSE!! Review: Firstly I would like to say that CREEPSHOW is unlike any other horror movie. In other words ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!! CREEPSHOW is a collection of six fantastic mini tales all wrapped up into one EXTREMELY LONG movie!!THE FRAMING STORY Billy is a young boy who is deeply engrossed with horror comics. When he buys the first issue collectors edition of the brand new horror comic,CREEPSHOW,his father is furious and throws the precious comic away. The next day Billy uses his voodoo doll to hurt his father with in an evil act of revenge!! 1st story,FATHERS DAY... An evil father exacts revenge on his unlikable family when he comes back from the dead. (IN MY VEIW THIS IS THE BEST STORY!) 2nd story,THE LONESOME DEATH OF JORDY VERRILL... Stephen King plays a hillbilly who finds a meteor, which makes green weed grow all over his body.(THE WORST STORY IN MY VEIW!!) 3rd story,SOMETHING TO TIDE YOU OVER... A man buries a couple on the beach up to their necks, then the tide comes in.They die. They then come back from the dead and get revenge!!(IN MY VEIW AN EXTREMELY ENTERTAINING BLACK COMEDY!!) 4th story,THE CRATE... An evil monster breaks out of a box in a university and goes around murdering everyone.(THE MOST GORY STORY OF THE FILM!!) 5th and final story,THEY ARE CREEPING UP ON YOU... A nasty man with a HUGE FEAR of germs and bugs gets his just desserts when his extremely expensive penthouse apartment is invaded(and I mean INVADED)by huge, mean cockroaches!!(WARNING!!This story has a SICK ending!!) In conlusion this FANTASTIC movie is an absolute MUST for horror fans everywhere!BUY IT WHILST YOU STILL CAN!!(made in 1982)
Rating: Summary: Creepshow=Funny! Review: One of the first "horror" movies I watched, Creepshow till this day is still very entertaining. While not being scary (at all), it does tell clever stories with some note-worthy actors. The stories that stick are "father's day" and "the Crate". A great pick for horror fans of all ages.
Rating: Summary: This is a landmark flick for horror Review: I usually don't like comedy mixed with horror, but this is a tongue in cheek masterpiece! The Crate is a great story, as is the rest. The 2 stories this flick could have done without are The Lonely Death of some hick and Theyre Creeping Up On You. Both boring stories. This is a must! I hate Stephen King, but when George Romero and Stephen King combine, be sure to see it! hehehe
Rating: Summary: Funny, spooky, and entertaining! Review: Great fun! Based on a comic book this movie is spooky, hilarious(they were all a little funny to me but the one with the meteor gives me a good laugh everytime I see it), and overall, a lot of fun. I like to watch this movie with my friends and eat and laugh and have a great time. :)
Rating: Summary: Good Movie, with the Exception of 1 story... Review: The first time I saw this movie I rented it, I like every story of the four, except for the last one about the guy who was afraid of bugs. It was pointless, and any scary story that deals with royalty is STUPID. The first story is about a woman who killed her father, because he kept nagging her to get his cake, so she killed him. The second is the best one, it stars Stephen King as a hick that finds an astroid he touches it, and after that everything he touches turns to grass. The third stars Leslie Nielsen (Prom Night, The Naked Gun) it is probably the second best story, it's about a guy who buries a couple up to their neck in send by the lake, and when a tidal wave comes in... well... you know what would happen. And the last is just plain stupid. I give this movie a 4 out of 5, it could have had a 5 but the last story was just too stupid!
Rating: Summary: Horror Classic but Modern Review: Modeled after the great EC comics series Tales from the Crypt, the Vault of Horror, and the Haunt of Fear, 'Creepshow' is a movie which, like those comics, consists of four of five short stories. Unlike many horror movies, this movie is not sick, disturbing, or gory, but is formulated on what made the comics work- spooky stories and excellent staging. Its slightly gory, but is just really good scary fun.
Rating: Summary: A horror comic book lover's dream Review: Creepshow pays homage to the old E.C. horror comics that caused so much controversy in the 50's and eventually spawned the watchdog group the Comics Code Authority. George Romero and Stephen King worked together to make this film and their mastery of their craft shows. King wrote 5 solid stories here (some better than others). Romero wrapped them in a comic book style, fever-dream colors, and frenzied artwork backgrounds. The effect is, literally, a film comic book. Five stories are presented. My personal favorite is "The Crate". Not only does it have the scariest monster and creepiest concept, but it also has amazing performances by Hal Holbrook and Fritz Weaver. Lots of name stars appear in the film, including Stephen King starring as a country moron in "The Lonesome Death of Jody Verill". Anyone who has ever gone to a local House of Horrors around halloween and come away disappointed, was probably hoping for an experience like the one that Creepshow delivers. A nightmarish, colorful, disturbing spookfest that sticks with you, even after you turn off your television.
Rating: Summary: Creepshow is a classic! Review: This Movie has several different shows in one tape! Some scenes are really Creepy! For instance! Imagine beinging a neat freak and having white everything so you can see a spot or speck of dirt! Then you get Roaches!!!! Ewwwww!!! Stephen King's got some imagination! If you like this you might also like! Creepshow 2 and The Twilight Zone Movie! Both are very good! Scary!!
