Summary: Goofy, gory fun on a barebones disc
Review: I hate bare DVDs. I want that on record right up front. This disc comes with a trailer and virtually nothing else in the way of extras and I hate that, knocking off at least one star right at the top.

That said, this is a cool movie for Stephen King fans or fans of the classic EC Horror comics. King, unabashedly a fan of those very books, uses a comic book framing sequence to tell five unrelated tales of horror with a dash of comedy thrown in as well. When else will you see Ed Harris, Ted Danson, Leslie Nielsen and Hal Holbrook together? Not to mention a sequence with King himself carrying an entire short film practically solo (and 20 years before Tom Hanks, I may add).

All of the stories would have felt perfectly in place in the pages of "The Crypt of Terror" or "The Vault of Horror," and in fact those same comic books would later inspire the HBO series "Tales From the Crypt."

If you're a fan of the Cryptkeeper and his ghoulish gifts, this flick can be viewed as an immediate predecessor -- check it out.

Summary: a Classic from George Romero.
Review: Stephen King and George Romero created this cult 1982 Horror
Anthology of terror inspired by the " Tales from the Crypt"
Comic books of the 50's. It's perfect and has everything you
would be hungry for a horror film such as Meteors from Outer space, Monsters coming out of Crates, Dead People coming back to life, Killer Pests, Scares, and more.

Followed by Creepshow 2.

Summary: A good horror flick...
Review: for those who love horror. I saw this movie in the theater when it first came out many, many years ago. I was an adolescent then. But I can still remember how scared I was when they discovered what was in the mysterious trunk hidden away. Lets just say, the short stories that make up this movie are not only unique, but they will scare you (if not gross you out just a bit.)
Compared to the technology of today, this movie seems dated. But you can't beat the low tech effect of Stephen King turning into a "plant creature" after having encountered a strange meteor. Nor the creepiness you feel along your skin when the roaches take over E.G. Marshall's pristine apartment.
You'll even get a good laugh or two while watching this...a murdered father coming back from the grave demanding his Father's Day cake!!!
This movie has it all. If anything, it is a great throw back to the days when movies didn't cost you an arm and a leg to get into.

Summary: Cheesy Horror film to Enjoy.
Review: Very funny horror flick which contains 5 tales of horror. All of them were pretty interesting except for father's day, which was waiting to absolutely stink. I dont know if I blame his daughter ( you have to watch it to understand what I am talking about). My favorite was the 5th story They are Creeping on You, where this wealthy penthouse owner pays the price with bugs. He got tore off something awful. Anyway check this film out if you never seen it. It will give you the creeps.......a little anyway.

Summary: Fair enough.
Review: What is there to say? Creepshow is classic old-school horror in short-stories.
Stephen King is cool as farmer ("Ow that kind of luck spells B-A-D!").

Summary: GREAT Horror anthology
Review: George Romero's Creepshow is one of my very favorite horror films. Five (!!) horror stories are presented in Creepshow, as tales in the horror comic of the same name. The centerpiece of the film, however, is the fourth story, The Crate (also the longest story, at thirty-eight minutes), about a man who feeds his evil wife to a big monster in a crate. The stories are all great fun (Stephen King's turn as Jordy Verrill provides a very humorous tale), and filled with chills and thrills. My personal favorite is the last story, They're Creeping Up On You, which is truly stomach-turning. Those afraid of bugs will be uneasy for a week after seeing this one.

The DVD is part of Warner's budget line ((dollar amount) at most places), so don't expect a whole lot. You get a great, very entertaining horror movie and that's about it. No extras except for a theatrical trailer. The sound is Dolby Surround, and sounds quite good. The image quality is quite good for a film that's 20 years old. It's bright and colorful, with little noticeable shimmering. The picture does have a slight jitter, as a previous reviewer noted, but it's not terribly noticeable. I found that it was more noticeable on the full screen side than on the widescreen, but widescreen is the one you should be watching anyway. This is far from the worst transfer I've ever seen. It's too bad that Warner couldn't have put a little more effort into the DVD, but still it's great to have this great horror flick in digital format.

Summary: Not so creepy
Review: An episode movie that starts out with a boy not being allowed to read a DC horror comic. Once that presentation is over the viewer gets to see a couple of the comics in reality. Some of them are actually quite good and some I just didn't care about. The first one was a pretty creepy ghost story called "Fathers Day" which was less then good(Ed Harris had a role in it). The second was more of a funny screwball piece about a farmer that finds a meteorite and if I'm not mistaken the farmer is played by Stephen King. After that we get to see Leslie Nielsen and Ted Danson and a couple of more actors playing around in something that is less then good.

Summary: Comic book creepiness unfolds
Review: This is has and will always be a favorite flic of mine. What is cooler than combining a great set of horror tales with a comic book backdrop? I enjoyed all the tales in this movie, however, "Father's Day" is above all my favorite (with "The Crate" running neck-and-neck). Great special effects! I got my cake!

Summary: Great Original Horror Film!
Review: In this collaboration with Stephen King, director George Romero assembles a distinguished cast and pays vividly hued homage to the E.C. horror comics of the 1950s. (This film appeared years before the TALES FROM THE CRYPT series.) Five creepy tales are strung together by a framing story involving a young boy being punished by his father for reading the gruesome, titular comic book. "Father's Day" tells the tale of a family patriarch exacting beyond-the-grave revenge on the daughter who murdered him. In "The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill," a Maine hayseed (King himself in a ridiculously over-the-top performance) is overtaken by a meteor-based plant growth. A cuckolded husband exacts watery revenge on his cheating wife and her lover in "Something to Tide You Over." A hairy beast in a box is used for nefarious purposes at a university in "The Crate." Finally, in "They're Creeping Up on You," a wealthy, arrogant New Yorker with a fear of germs has a disturbing run-in with cockroaches during a blackout.

While the stories are a bit brief, the style is appropriate for the anthology format. Romero's use of garish colors to mimic the ink in comic books is visually appealing, preventing the gore on display from being too off-putting. Featuring early appearances by actors such as Ed Harris and Ted Danson, CREEPSHOW is eerie, engaging entertainment.

There are so many reasons why I like this film. The length of the film. 120 minutes. That's two hours of horror stories. If you notice lately, any movie that has more than two stories is usually about an hour and a half. Stephen King and George A. Romero on the other hand, were able to put together a two hour film.

It's mostly the suspensful scenes, that get you asking, "what if that was me?" Seeing people suffer in this movie, adds a great effect on the audience. Most of the time I could feel the pain they were going through. Like Ted Danson's story, or when Ed Harris was under that grave. Stephen King was funny as he acted as a retarded farm boy.

If you haven't seen this film, then do so. If you get the same effect I did, then my review should be helpful to you.

Oh yeah! if you're one of those guys who like having snacks and pop during a scary movie, then I would suggest you eat up fast before the last story. Trust me on this one!

I hope my review was helpful to you!
