Summary: An underappreciated and Shocking Horror feast.
Review: This sequel to " Dawn of the Dead" is the final in the Living dead trilogy, it's a 1985 Horror thriller that bombed with audiences and critics but was a hit on video.

It's basically about the last surviving humans who struggle in a underground Bunker to control the Zombies or try to escape while one of them is a trader and wants to feed them to the Ghouls.

Truly gory and graphic Horror movie that is soo underrated but a must see for those who like Dawn and Horror, but this is not for the faint of heart cause it will make you loose your lunch, Next year there is also gonna a special Edition DVD with Behind the Scenes, Trailers, and Commentary so " Dawn" fans get this movie when it comes out next year.

Similar movies recommeded: Re-Animator, Dawn of the Dead, From Dusk Till Dawn, The Evil Dead, Lucio Fulci's Zombie, Return of the Living Dead ( 1985 original), Dead Alive, John Carpenter's The Thing, Saving Private Ryan, Resident Evil, C.H.U.D., Lucio Fulci's The Beyond, City of the Living Dead, House by the Cemetery, The Stuff, Lifeforce, Akira, Evil Dead II, The Toxic Avenger, Texas Chainsaw Massacre part 2 with Dennis Hopper, Basket Case, Scanners, Nightmare City, Total Recall, Event Horizon, Alien, Dario Argento's Phenomena, and Bio-Zombie.

Review: Day of the Dead is the sequel to Dawn of the Dead. You assume it is later on and the zombies have completely zoned out by now. The underground base replete with pot and a helicopter for living people hunting missions is the best part,...heck ,..it's the only part! Acting isn't superb but it's not lacking,....for a zombie flick,...which this definately is in all manners. i gave it four stars because it is rewatchable from every angle,....there's alot to be said for rewatchability.

Summary: Oh man this is a bad movie!
Review: When I first saw this one back in '85 I was absolutely trembling with anticipation. Dawn of the Dead was one of my favorite movies and we had watched it on a Sony Betamax at least 20 times. Fangoria had hyped the heck out of Day and the gore looked incredible. Well, the gore is gorey, but the movie bites the big one. Awful characters, played by amateur actors, constantly arguing and yelling at each other, a villain so evil that he sneers every line of dialogue and scowls every time he's on camera (never seen him in a movie since, I wonder why?). The whole thing with Bud and the mad scientist was laughable-actually the whole thing is a waste. Romero should've waited till he had enough money to do it right. After the opening credits the entire movie is filmed in an underground bunker and yes the claustrophobia is contagious. I was out of my seat and into the sunshine before you could say-missed oppportunity!

Summary: This "Dead" doesn't have as much bite as the others.
Review: Day of the Dead, the supposedly final offering from Horror master George A. Romero offers a grim look at a world finally over run by the flesh eating zombies of the first 2 films. Again a small band of human survivors are brave against hoardes of living dead, this time in an abandoned military base somewhere in the Florida Everglades. Romero again provides a microcosm of society trapped together but not all working together so well in this crisis and offer his same biting social comentary buried in the horror film about how we have all become slaves to our consumerism and conveniences that are and have consumed us all. I enjoyed the film but not as much as I had the others. It seemed to lack a certain something that the other films had that I can't seem to put my finger on.
The one thing that I can say in defense of this film, like all of Romero's films is that he doesn't cop out with a Hollywood ending. There is no miracle cure found to destroy the zombies, not everyone lives, and there is no final answer. Life, for lack of a better word just goes on, the remaining survivors forced to live out the rest of their existance on a deserted island with probably no hope of reaching other humans or re-populating the Earth. Out of the 3 movies this one definitely comes 3rd.
Bub [rocks] though.

Summary: not as fullfilling as other zombie movies
Review: this one has lots of zombie action but falls short of the great dawn of the dead, the miltary guys and thier foul mouth and killing thier own ppl kinda take the fizz out of the movie til the last 1/2 of movie where the zombies get thier revenge i liked some parts and found some of the movie entertainin but then some parts i feel they lost thier focus again on the "what the movie was about" the good guys most of them walk away with all body parts in tact i didnt quit catch the idea of the under ground theme in this one .. but i would rent this one if you dont collect the movie or the series im not so sure id say rush oout and buy it. not a boring movie and this one has lots of zombies and in spots can be alot grosser then any other one made.. as they show bodies being ripped apart up close and personal not for the weak stomach i garentee

Summary: Shamefully underrated!!!
Review: This movie is a mature and intelligent follow up to Dawn of the Dead. Romero has dispensed with the joky element was sprinkled through the previos flick. This gives the impression that the end is really nigh and theres not much to laugh about now. Romero is a sadly underrated artist whose output, while infrequent, is always interesting, socially prescient and downright entertaining. I look forward to the fourth chapter in the series(if it ever happens!!!). Those who do not see this erudite film are losing out on one of the most unique and memorable additions to horror genre history. P.S : splendid music and atmospherics also!

Summary: An underrated, compelling film.
Review: George Romero's third and probably final entry in the Living Dead series features a group of scientists and soldiers holed up in a missile silo with zombies running amok aboveground. Relying more on theme and characters than before, this installment is a dramatically compelling and very convincing post-apocalyptic tale. The performances are fine, and the lead trio (Lori Cardille, Terry Alexander, and Jarlath Conroy) is very likeable. Among the most worthy of not are Tom Savini's make-up effects, some of the best ever put on film, and the last half-hour is a tour-de-force of intense non-stop action and suspense. Sometimes a bit unpleasant to watch and the last few minutes are a little too rushed, but it's a thought-provoking examination of the human personality.

Summary: THE DEAD WALK!
Review: the first 10 minutes of this film i shall never forget.in a desolate city somewhere in florida,a wild alagator crawles out of a abandon bank, along with money thats now useless.theres a last issued news paper on the street that headlines the statement THE DEAD WALK!.a shadow shuffles along the empty street, soon we see the figure to be a ghastly looking zombie.probably the best
opening scene in a horror movie ever!.just thinking about it send shivers down my spine.this one is ALOT darker and a bit more mature.good charector development, and the dialogue was pretty good for the most part.but the problem is theres too much dialogue.but theres still some more chilling scenes but not enough.i also agree with a previous reviewer about the domesticated zombie bob.i also felt sorry for him.he started to get some form of his humanity back, only to loose the people who was helping him.then theres the head scientist whom bob is verry fond of.but this scientist is obviously loosing his grip on reality a tad bit and the other 2 doctors realize this.the doctor main goal was to find out how to stop the undead.but all he has comed up with is stuff everybody already know.his solution was to domesticate the dead.some times the soldiers are the ones that actually makes some sense. this film had so much promise, but didn't get a good budget because romero didn't wan't to tone down the gore.so he had to rewrite the script.but the thought of a more recent romero zombie movie with a bigger budget could be the best horror movie ever.it is scary just thinking about what romero could do with a decent budget.the possibilities are vast, and endles, and i'm not exadurating either.i agree with a previous reviewer romero is our only hope.he's the horror genre's only hope!

Summary: THE END...?
Review: In the mid-summer of 1985, six years after the completion of his zombie film epic "Dawn of the Dead", director George A. Romero released its follow-up "Day of the Dead", bringing to a conclusion the terrifying trilogy he began in 1968 with the now classic "Night of the Living Dead"...

The story...

"Night of the Living Dead" (1968) - As the earth begins to crawl with mysteriously re-animated, cannibalistic corpses, seven strangers find themselves spending a night of restless horror isolated from the rest of humanity, trapped inside an old Pennsylvanian farmhouse while an ever-growing multitude of the grossly disfigured, blood-thirsty ghouls begins to surround their make-shift stronghold, with morning's light being their only hope for survival...

"Dawn of the Dead" (1979) - With the world's population of man-eating zombies steadily on the rise, four humans seek refuge inside an upper-level storage room located within the walls of a Pennsylvanian shopping mall. Together the heroes find themselves being forced into having to adapt to their new "lifestyle" while, at the same time, struggling for their survival, pitted against the hordes of cannibalistic ghouls shuffling mindlessly through the myriad of department stores below them...

"Day of the Dead" (1985) - The few remaining pockets of humanity left in the world have found themselves being forced into an existence underground within the confines of top secret military outposts, trapped beneath a world engulfed by the ever-growing masses of flesh-eating zombies that continuously walk the earth in search of human prey...

While "Day of the Dead" may not be the best film of the series, lacking the chilling atmosphere present in "Night of the Living Dead" and the elements of action and excitement found in "Dawn of the Dead", it does succeed as being quite an enjoyable motion picture in its own right.

Highlighted by an above average leading cast, a brooding musical score composed by John Harrison, and an array of astonishing "zombie" effects provided by the one and only Tom Savini, "Day of the Dead", as a horror film, certainly has its moments and should not be missed by any fan of the genre.

Mr. Romero has hinted about wanting to direct a 4th installment of the series for quite some time now. However, he has also stated that the odds of that actually happening are slim to none. His fans, and admirers, can only wait...and hope.
