Summary: Final Countdown
Review: This movie is very well photographed,(especially the aerial scenes showing the awesome tehnological advances in aviation since the 40s which we take so much for granted.)It is a movie in which at the end the viewer cannot mentally come to grips with all the "if-onlys". What would be the ultimate effect of changing history after the fact? The actors' performances, while good, were really secondary to the being treated to period aircraft trying to engage modern-day jet fighters. Soon-Tek-Oh, a very fine actor, gave a good performance as a downed Japanese pilot. The only weak point I found in the movie was the almost antiseptic attitude of the Aircraft Carrier crew towards the Japanese fleet which they know is about to sneak attack and kill more than a thousand sailors which starts a war which will kill hundreds of thousands of men, women and childen before its end. Overall, it makes you think. There are no easy answers to the questions posed in this movie. But, you will enjoy it.

Summary: Great Movie that challenges the imagination
Review: This was a terrific movie, about Pearl Harbor, yet you cannot be sure of the ending! Well acted and written, the great debate is whether to interfere with history. Would love to buy it for home. Wish it was still being produced so I could buy it.

Summary: realistic time travel
Review: I suppose if one could go back in time, this is the way it would happen. An extremely gripping movie that I could watch (and have watched) many times. What would you do if you could change history? Would you? Or would you let it run it's course? When a movie makes you continuously think about it over and over, to me that's the sign of a well made and well written movie. And the O. Henry ending will make your head spin! Now, why in the world would this movie NOT be available in any way, shape, or form? To me, this would be a MUST HAVE on DVD. OK, powers that be, bring this movie back in all its time travel glory!

Summary: The Final Countdown - Sci-Fi Story Telling at it's BEST
Review: This film is well written, has an all star cast and has wonderful photography. Filmed well before Top Gun, The Final Countdown has great areial combat/flight scenes and shows the awesome capabilites of the navy's modern nuclear aircraft carriers and the stressful environment that all aboard have to live with every day.

Kirk Douglass and Marten Sheen show why they were "A" list actors when this film was made. Both gave excellent performances.

The script was well written with the exploration of the ships crew trying to deal with a potential paradox that would effect every person on the planet.

Great acting a good story and super photography of aircraft carrier and flight operations. If you like these features, you will love this movie.

Summary: The final countdown.
Review: this movie is a interesting view of time travel. as a present day navel ship in a time worp to the past, and O what it could do?? change history, change events, change the corse of time, and all the history that happened between the years of December 7 1941 and present day, if it wished to. very well acted movie realy gets you imagination working of all the things that could be changed or altered throught history.possibilitys are endless with this one.many more this type movies could be made off of this one , and would hope someday they do. [GREAT MOVIE] to see.

Summary: Realism, Fact, Fantasy, and Science all rolled into one.
Review: No other movie can give you the realistic thrill of Naval combat and Science-Fiction in the same story. This by far is the best of the best. Topgun can't even touch the magic and adventure of carrier aviation and real combat procedures. I am very disappointed the copy is not available anymore. The history alone involved in this film should warrant continuous production of this action-adventure-thriller.

Summary: One of the most thought provoking yet fun to watch and argue
Review: Final Countdown evokes the well worn phrase of thought provoking yet what else is it? It is always fun to make believe what it would be like to go back in time knowing what we know now. Final Countdown does that. Waste 2 zeros w/o trying. What is the integrity of man if allowed to relive the past. Just a fun movie that allows the art of conversation to be extended after the credits have run!

Summary: A must for airplane movie collectors with SciFi to boot!
Review: The Publisher must reprint this movie because it is the most interesting of premises regarding modern aircraft meeting WWII aircraft. The aerial views are spetacular and the on deck action realistic, my brother served on the USS Saratoga. My kids loved the movie even though they do not normally enjoy planes and ships. They were really into the time travel SciFi parts. I would be interested in buying an original in the box VHS tape at a good price. Please let me know if this becomes available.

Summary: Excellent direction and acting in a "what if" situation
Review: A movie that is not only a keeper but one that was ahead of its time. One can only wonder what if it was possible to go back in time to attempt to change events. This movie is not only action packed but one that will leave the viewer thinking about it long afterwards.

Summary: Excellent and thought provoking.
Review: My husband and I have been searching for this movie on Laser or DVD. The realism at that time compared with excellent acting and "what if" makes this a top notch film. I don't understand why the "powers that be" have not re-released this film. Could make them a fortune!
