Summary: avoid this movie
Review: This has got to be one of the worst movies ever made. I am a fan of the first two Evil Deads, I own both Evil Dead 1 and 2, but Army of Darkness was just a complete disappointment. But I wasn't surprised I didn't like it: look at other trilogies that are ruined by the 3rd movie, e.g. Max Mad: Beyond Thunderdome.

Army of Darkness is not funny at all. Maybe to a six-year-old kid or something. Maybe Bruce Campbell had some good one-liners in Evil Dead 2, but he's not really a comedy-type person. This movie is just a poorly done caricature. The acting is terrible. At least the other Evil Deads had some decent acting; and the actors are all ugly, especially the girl he falls in love with. Bruce can get better than that-especially in a movie. What? They didn't have enough money for better actors or something?

Roger Ebert gave this movie one star, which I think is generous. Roger Ebert is not always right, but this time he is. I suggest you read his review too, because I agree with most of it. If you haven't seen Army of Darkness, at most I'd suggest you just rent it. Otherwise... you shouldn't waste any money on it.

Summary: Ooooooka Chaka Ooooooka Chaka!
Review: Let me be the first to say of myself that I am not a fan of horror films or even films that contain gory type of sequences with stretched faces and other body parts but this is a movie that is a definite classic. I love Bruce Campbell's one line acting and the way he acts in this film made me laugh more times than I can remember. This is not a serious film...not at all, instead it's a bit of a comedy with the use of a twisted storyline and the advantages of horror make up that was used state of the art wise in this film. I can't really compare this film to any others but I do have a copy of evil dead, hence why I bought Army of Darkness but if your looking for a good laugh and a movie of the 'CULT' genre than this is one to look into. The features are really good in this one since you get to hear a hilarious commentary from Sam and Ivan Rami backed up by none other than the man himself....Bruce Campbell. There are three DVD versions of this movie and I have the one with the paper bag on the cover to give it that cheesy bootleg effect. I looked into the other versions and the only difference really seems between the three are a difference of materials used in the packaging. Anyways Army of Darkness is a hit and not a miss and is a definite period in a ending sentence to an essay on Generation X.

Review: This is in my mind the single coolest movie of all time. Ash isn't the brightest of gents, but when its time to slay the dead, Ash is the man. I actually prefer the ending of the theatrical version over the directors cut, though no harm to Raimi. I hope one day we will get to see Ash don the Boomstick and chainsaw again.

Review: Army of Darkness has been one of my favorite films since ... well, forever. I can't believe it took me this long to get it on DVD, but I'm glad I waited, since now I have the "Boomstick" Edition. Nice to see the "original" ending, but I prefer the theatrical release (sorry, Mr. Raimi) over the director's cut. Such a great movie, though!

Summary: Masterpiece
Review: Sam Raimi is one of my favorite directors, and this is definitly one of his masterpieces. Bruce Cambell just makes it all the better. The third movie in one of the best horror/slapstick comedy movie series "The Evil Dead", Army of Darkness is very entertaining and this boomstick edition is a must have. BUY IT.

Summary: The Army of... Weakness? Almost...
Review: The third movie of the Evil Dead Trilogy don't deserve this poor DVD edition. Ok, it's the worst movie in the trilogy, but it's still awesome, unlike the DVD.
It's rated R for violence, blood... The movie is the Evil Dead II sequel, where Ash "falls" in year 1300. His mission is to come back to his own time, but expect a lot of work in order to do that. He has to take the Necronomicon (Book of the Dead) from an unholy graveyard and a lot of other things. It's a comedy with some horror elements.
The DVD features audio in English (not 5.1!), French. And it's captioned in English and Spanish. The extras are:
- Theatrical Trailer: What can I say about it? It's the theatrical trailer!
- Bios: Cast & Crew main bios.
- Scene Selection: C'mon, what's a DVD without this?
- Production Notes: A bunch of texts. A little boring...
Overall, but this only if you can't find another edition... This is one of the worst Army Of Darkness' editions... But, if you can't find buy it for the movie, which is fun and it's part of the awesome Evil Dead Trilogy.

Review: Greedy, grubby, money-hungry, milking leeches. This is absurd. Next year you can look forward to Army of Darkness : Groovy Edition. Then in 2 years we'll get Army of Darkness : Klaatu Barrada Nikto Edition. THEN in 3 years we'll get Army of Darkness : Gimmie Some Sugar, Baby! Extreme Super Deluxe/Ultimate Edition. They're gonna beat this dead horse back to life.

Summary: The movie gets 5 stars not the dvd.
Review: I love the Evil Dead trilogly so naturaly it gets 5 stars. The DVD is not bad but nothing to write home about. It is a to disc set, The first disc i the best becouse it has it in widescreen or fullframe with Orignil ending, Trailer Talent bios, and a [really good] behind the scene featurette. However the sceond disc is just the bootleg edition just retilte to dirctor's cut. So if you do not already have Army of Darkness on DVD(shame on you) then this is the one to get.

Summary: Ash To The Rescue......
Review: Army of Darkness, or as it is better known "Evil Dead 3," is a wonderful movie. It's a rare instance where a film in a series will take an entirely different approach from its previous instalments. The first two Evil Deads were cult favourites of 80's horror buffs. Army of Darkness on the other hand has a cult following, but this cult also includes comedic buffs. Yes, comedic buffs. As opposed to sticking with the successful blood, gore & frights common in the first two, the film-makers decided to go with slap-stick, one-liners, mild fright and an over-all good adventure in this film. The movie tells the tale of Ash, who after fighting off the evil of the Necromonicon, gets transported back into medieval times. In order to return home Ash must obtain the Necromonicon, as the book contains the passage required to send him to his own time. But in obtaining the book Ash releases The Army of the Dead/The Deadites who are led by Evil Ash. Ash uses his wit and charm to the best of his abilities and puts up one heck of a fight. Does he survive and make it back to his one time? Well, that depends on which version of the film you watch. This DVD is a masterful collection. Two versions of film are included here....the U.S. Theatrical Version on the first disk, with the second disk holding the Director's Cut Version. The extras are also quite wonderful. The U.S. Version is viewable in both widescreen and full-screen versions, with the Director's Cut in widescreen. As well as talent bios, the theatrical trailer, a great behind the scenes featurette, additional footage, deleted scenes, and story boards, a very wonderful and insightful commentary is also available with the Director's Cut. Even though Army of Darkness is available in a couple of different versions, THIS is the version to own. It was well worth the wait and I highly recommend that it be checked out. Horror fans might get a kick out of it and even comedy fans might enjoy it too. Who'd a thought a Three Stooges routine would work so well with a skeleton? Ash is a super-hero of sorts for the common man and in the great words of him "Shop smart, shop S-Mart."
