Summary: Ok, guess you had to be there...........
Review: Maybe the book made sense or something but this movie, although some of the dialogue was good in some areas, otherwise sucked really REALLY bad. I mean, I love the good "chop em up" movies as much as anyone (and believe me, i have taken a lot of criticism for liking even some of the worst), but this movie will leave you totally wishing you had your rental money back or even worse, the money you paid to buy it with. Just mediocre acting, not a whole lot of scary murder activity and an ending that will leave you totally lost.

Summary: Confusing Psycho
Review: Perhaps the worst film of the year, American Psycho has very few "american" qualities to it. The movie is confusing, unappealing, and full of irrelevance.

The movie is about an yuppie on Wall Street who is trying to be better than everyone else. Obsessed with success, sex, and into drugs, Patrick Batemen works on Wall Street by day and plays serial killer by night. Or so it seems. The ending of this movie is so confusing, it led me to believe that some of the killing sequences are Batemen's fantasies. Specifically, in one scene, Batemen kills Paul Allen. Later, he goes to Allen's apartment and kills two ladies and stores them in the closet. Subsequently, he visits the apartment and discovers it's sold and no one seems to think anyone died there. At the end, Batemen's lawyer tells him that Paul is alive and that he has seen him in London. So, what happened?

The movie also failed to be effective as a suspense/horror/thriller due to its uneven pace. At times, it slows to a crawl, focusing on dinners, meetings that have little to add to the entire story. There are also a number of lines that are repeated for no apparent reason. For example, Batemen tells several people, "I have to return videos to the store." Did I miss something?

Unfortunately, it appears that the viewer needs to read the book first in order to understand what is going on. I, for one, have no intention of reading the book - a movie should stand on its own. American Psycho clearly doesn't.

Review: This movie is really awesome! I liked when that guy was talking to the girl and said something really weird. That was totally awesome. It was also cool when the guy killed that guy. Wow, that looked like it hurt. I am glad I was not in that guys sneakers. Overall I give the movie an A++++ infinity. It was that good. If you have a chance to buy it you should. You can tell buy what I said that it is a very good movie and an awesome one at that.

Summary: I want to kill a woman with a brick
Review: One of the most unfilmable novels actually worked quite well on the big screen. Taking lots of details, some sequences and the general feel of the book, the filmmakers turn Ellis' nightmarish novel into a black comedy of manners - a Merchant Ivory film with group sex and a chainsaw. The violence is toned-down to a point where it's almost absent ('Very Bad Things' was much nastier), and the obsessive detail of the book is left in the exquisitely-detailed recreation of the late-80s. In fact, the lack of violence hurts the film, in a way - Christian Bale's version of Bateman seems like too much of an idiot to be the inventive, invulnerable amoralist of his literary equivalent (and the physical resemblance to Chris Morris is striking). As with the book, the clever ending initially allows you to fool yourself into thinking that the film as a dream, until you think about it a bit more.

Review: I saw this one at the theatre. It is one of the WORST movies I have ever seen! I'm not sure which movie was worse, this one or Natural Born Killers. They were both the pits.

Summary: Rent it - if you want to see an awful movie
Review: Let's just say that I wish I could rate this movie less than 1 star. It was the worst movie that I have ever seen, and I have seen some pretty bad movies in my time. American Psycho was actually painful to watch; I think I would prefer someone to tie me down and rip off my fingernails one at a time than watch this movie again if given the choice. The social commentary was valid but demonstrated in such an in-your-face-yet-trying-to-be-subtle-and-smart way that it completely lost any respect that it may have deserved. Christian Bale did a fine job portraying Patrick Bateman but he could not make up for the horrible dialogue, storyline, producing and everything else involved. I only recommend this movie to people who wish to see one of the worst movies to come out of Hollywood in a very long time. If you want to watch a good (sorry, great)movie with approximately the same commentary, buy American Beauty.

Summary: One of the most unusual bizzare film.
Review: Christian Bale(Empire of the Sun, Shaft) gives a knock out performance as Patrick Bateman, a young man by his late twenties works in wall street. The way it`s seems, he has boring life with his rich colleagues, his dull fiancé and the way he`s living. But he lives a different life, as a professional crazy serial killer in new york city.

Director Mary Harron did a surprisingly well done film(also she co-wrote the screenplay), it has a lot of bright ideals, some hilarious moments, based on music, which he likes and clever ways he chooses to kill his victims. My favorite moments in the film is Bateman running naked with his chainsaw trying to kill a prostitute. In some ways, Director Harron did a nice touch to Tribute-Tobe Hopper Cult Classic:The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The film it`s a satire with very dark humour makes the picture memorable in today`s society, we live in.

Resse Witherspoon is a miscast and a waste as Bateman fiancé. One of this year most controversial film. American Psycho kind of reminded me of John Waters`s Serial Mom and Oliver Stone`s Natural Born Killers. A DVD Worth Buying and Certainly Worth Watching. DVD has fine anamorphic Widescreen (2.35:1) Transer & An good Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround.

Trivia:Oliver Stone almost sign doing the film, firing Harron a couple of months before shooting and Leonardo DiCarprio did also sign on the lead role, it was Bale or DiCarpiro to choose the role. Lions Gate films offer $20 Million to DiCarpiro but Leonardo was scare to do it, because he didn`t want to hurt his girly fans. Stone change his mind in the last minute and then Harron was hired back as the film director. Grade:A-. Super 35.

Summary: Interesting movie ruined by Cliche ending
Review: The movie started out very interestingly and though graphically violent it kept me interested throughout. Then the ending just ruined the entire film.... so cliche I wanted to ask for my money back. What a waste of a great idea exploring the excess culture of the 80's. I had not read the book so possibly it was better handled and explained in it, but if you have not read the book, the film ending is flat-footed and deeply unsatisfying.

Summary: One of the greatest movies of our time!
Review: Let me start off by saying that this movie, like champagne, is an aquired "taste". No, this movie isn't for everybody. Many people would probably find this movie stupid and pointless and that's okay. I can't blame you. The movie is based on the controversial novel by Bret Easton Ellis about a group of yound men working on wall street in the eighties. The story focusses mainly, though, on one of the men. Patrick Bateman. On the outside, Patrick seems to be a handsome, charming young man, but on the inside...he has a dark, dark secret. He is a sadistic serial killer. Now, when I read the book, I did not particularly love the charecter Patrick Bateman. But believe me, the book is great but also very graphic and far more violent and graphic than this film. Patrick Bateman is much crueler at times in the book (those who read it will remember the terrible Zoo chapter). But when I saw the movie...I instantly fell in love with the charecter. Many of you won't I'm sure. He is beautifully portrayed by Christian Bale. Some scenes of the movie are absolutely hillarious like his dinner with Paul Allen. I know what you are thinking. "How can this person think that the movie is funny" well it is really supposed to be. It is a satire on the eighties and has dark comedy hidden all over the place. The DVD edition with it's special features and I suggest you check them out. So remember, this isn't a movie for everyone but give it a try anyway because it truly is an instant classic!
