Summary: An Action-Packed, Laugh-Filled, One-Liner Ride!
Review: Army of Darkness picks up where Evil Dead II leaves off. If you haven't seen Evil Dead II, that's okay... this movie stands well on it's own.

We find Ash (Bruce Campbell) thrown back in time and surrounded by guys wearing armor. Our bumbling reluctant hero has his work cut out for him: Retrieve a mystical book, defeat the forces of evil, and get back to his own time.

Along the way, we get to enjoy watching Ash get the stuffin' kicked out of him! He also delivers a plethora of one-liners the likes of which may never be seen again. (My personal fave: "Groovy.")

Granted, the special effects may not be state of the art, but that's not what this movie is about. I'll gladly give up some special effects just watch Ash's antics.

I TRULY feel sorry for anyone who may have missed getting the Special Edition. The commentary is great, the Alternate Version is fantastic and the deleted scenes are a MUST. (I don't agree with Raimi's decision to cut the original Windmill scene. It makes much more sense and even pays a sly homage to Evil Dead II.) Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll start re-printing this baby!

If you like humor, slapstick, action and gratuitous blood, get Army of Darkness!

Summary: The Best Bruce Campbell Movie thus far!
Review: Well, I was really reluctant to try this movie when I first brought it home. wow. How stupid was i? this movie has been found a great sucess in my household, and all my friends are forced to sit and watch it, and even those who were prejudiced because it didn't have as fancy effects as the matrix loved it at the end. This movie has plot, which is more than I can say for a lot of movies out there. Even though the special FX aren't the best (this wasn't done with macs, i dont think) you can definately put that aside. All in all, I suggest this movie to any comedy fan (though I did go through it once and find about 20 nitpics, you have to watch carefully for them.) or to any action fan. Bravo, Mr. Director dude!¸

Summary: Not the horror film it claims to be
Review: Army of Darkness is not a horror movie. It's more of a satire of the genre. Although it takes place where Evil Dead 2 ends, it really has nothing to do with the rest of the series. Evil Dead was a excellent horror film. Evil Dead 2 was a remake of the first with dark humor thrown in, creating another excellent film. Army of Darkness is full of comedy....and not much else. But that's okay, by the time you finish watching it, you don't feel robbed. That's the power of Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell.

Summary: Thank god, technical information is a mistake.
Review: I got the director`s cut on video is great, also like the 81 minute vresion of Army Of Darkness, those who like S-Mart Finale.

But The DVD Version From Anchor Bay Entertainment in chance to get the Limited Edition on DVD. I got the Director`s Cut on tape, Still on the DVD, it have Commentary From Director Sam Raimi(Evil Dead Trilogy,Dark Man,A Simple Plan.) ,Bruce Cambpell(Also in the Evil Dead Trilogy), and Co-Writer of the film-Ivan Raimi, the brother of Sam Raimi.

But you get a Second Chance, when Anchor Bay Entertainment Re-Relase The Director`s Cut On DVD, not the Limited Edition, when you get the Theatical Cut also. Only a Single Disc Of The Director`s Cut On DVD, With Commentary and 4 Deleted Scenes, didn`t fit with the Director`s Cut.

Go to (Anchor Bay), check once a week to give you Special Edition, including Commentary, Tralier and Behind the Scene footage with never seen before Footage, Widescreen Format and Digitally Remasted in Dolby Digital 5.1 and also in THX, will be out in July with The Director`s Cut of Army Of Darkness, will be in a Limited Time Also.

In the fall 2000, Evil Dead Will Be Digitally Remasted in THX, adding the Original Two Different Commenatry for the Recently Elite Special Edition DVD and Maybe Anchor Bay Entertainment will relase the First Time In Widescreen and Maybe also Deleted Scenes, wasn`t on the Elite DVD Special Edition.

This DVD say This movie is in Dolby Stereo 2.0 but is also an 6 Channel Sound. Grade:A-.

Summary: Greatest Horror/Comedy ever made
Review: This is by far one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. It has that sort of "Airplane" comedic feel to it combined with a storyline about "a chosen one". I would highly recommend this movie to anyone who likes a good comedy or horror movie. And I would DEFINITELY recommmend it to any Bruce Campbell fan, this is him at his best!

Summary: Name's Ash.... housewares
Review: words that strike terror in the darkest hearts of foulundeads... well, not really and this line comes from the 'happy' ending as opposed to the director's cut.

'gimme some sugar baby'

as noted by other reviewers, this movie is full of annoyingly cool one-liners that only Bruce Campbell can spew. you won't believe how quickly you'll start looking for opportunities to use these lines!

'i got it, i got it! i know your damn words!'

there IS a story here... somewhere... actually, it's the usual, man-chops-off-hand-to-prevent-demonic-possession-and-whilst-conjuring-a- spell-to-cast-out-said-demon-falls-prey-to-a-metaphysical-vortex-that- transfers-him-into-medieval-England-where-he-must-defeat-the-hordes-of- undeads-to-retrieve-the-unholiest-book-the-Necronomicon-in-which- contains-the-instruction-to-send-him-'home.' WHEW!

'honey, you got real ugly.'

this movie is fun so don't overanalyze it. this is a classic B movie that plays homage from Planet of the Apes to Jason and the Argonauts. the now seriously outdated special effects along with the comical dialogue only help to enforce the campiness of it all.

'Hail to the king, baby.'

but i gave it only four stars because i couldn't in good conscience rate it the full five and there will be those who won't like it (like deadites and other people w/o humor). get the special edition, if you can, the director's commentary and storyboards are interesting features... just GET IT.

Summary: The All-Time Camp Classic
Review: This is the ultimate combination of comedy and science fiction. Never has a movie produced more memorable one-liners. The story of a modern day "S-Mart" clerk who is thrown back in time to do battle with an army of the dead, this movie has it all. Humor, romance, stirring battle scenes and more laugh-out-loud moments than can be counted. I first saw this movie in the theater when it was released (the trailer which can be seen on the DVD version drew me in). I did not see the first two movies in the series (Evil Dead and Evil Dead II) until after this one. Now I am hooked. These three movies make as good a series of movies as any I have ever seen (although, you could easily skip Evil Dead I, as much of it is repeated in II, but that is another review), the Star Wars Triology included. Bruce Campbell has incredible comic timing. The supporting cast includes the beautiful Embeth Davidtz, the sublime Ian Abercrombie, the brilliantly funny Mark Burnley and even a brief cameo by Bridgette Fonda. I would recommend the whole series, but this movie can stand alone. Even without the background of Evil Dead II, this movie is worth watching more than once. You will find yourself rewinding over and over to catch the line you just missed. For all those who live to quote movie lines to thier friends, this is as good as it gets. Don't miss this movie.

Summary: You Need This Movie
Review: This is one of the best cheesy horror flicks I have ever seen. If you have ever watched either Evil Dead, or Evil Dead 2 then you must watch this one, it's without a shadow of a doubt the best of the series. This movie is where Duke Nukem got his voice attitude and the majority of his phrases. There are few movies that you can watch over as many times as this one. Beware though the movie is extremely gory.
