Summary: THIS MOVIE SUCKED!
Review: As someone who truly adores suspenseful movies the only thing redeeming about this movie was the hot guy almost naked in most of the movie. My friend and I felt this movie should be classified as a comedy rather than a horror film. I will say that Bale really is a gifted actor. How he mastered that voice! What a hoot!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Christian looks great!
Review: The violence is toned down a lot from what's in the book, but otherwise is a fairly good reproduction of the story. Christian Bale has obviously been pumping a LOT of iron: when you see his nude scenes, you'll never believe this was the same skinny kid from "Empire Of The Sun." And his "American" accent is perfect, almost better than his last "New York accent" role in Newsies! I think this movie was meant to be a black comedy: the lifestyle of the rich-and-famous is satired really well. Look for the scene where they're comparing their business cards: it's really funny! Jared Leto is in this film, but has only a short role (too bad). Hey, Willem Dafoe is here, too! He plays the detective; great acting, but his role doesn't have much impact. Yeah, I think I'll buy this DVD...

Summary: Not nearly as violent as they would make you think....
Review: A halarious movie! The satire was mute, yet obvious. A MUST SEE!

Summary: A very good adaptation of a very "80's" book
Review: I reviewed the book and gave it four stars; I'm giving the movie the same. The murders and mutilations have been considerably toned down; just as well, as otherwise, they probably couldn't have released the movie; but Mary Harron deserves a B++ for turning a plotless novel into a film which actually has a story line. Christian Bale is terrific as Patrick Bateman, the Wall Street yuppie by day who becomes a psychopathic killer by night, who must kill and kill again to feel that he exists. Bateman looks like he's ready to step off the cover of GQ magazine, and his apartment perfectly matches his persona; it's so stark and soulless that it looks like a mausoleum, furnished with, among other things, a top-of-the-line SubZero fridge which contains the severed head of one of his victims. The supporting cast is also excellent. The only thing that makes me give this movie four stars instead of five is that it is lacking something that is almost indefinable; Bateman is so antiseptic, and his surroundings are so antiseptic, that the movie is almost antiseptic; we see it but we don't feel it. Bateman comes off as more pathetic than monstrous; we almost feel sorry for this poor guy whose life is so empty that, as he says, "there is no me." Perhaps it's that very emptiness that defines the Eighties; and if so, this movie captures it very well.

Summary: Excellence in Filmmaking!
Review: American Psycho is an awesome film. It is a great example of how a book should be translated into a movie! There are quite a few funny parts and a few very suspenseful scenes. Go into this movie with an open mind or you'll most definetly be disappointed....

Summary: Watch the movie first then read the book.
Review: The first thing I would like to say is that this movie is not even one tenth as violent and gory as the book. It may at times give you a feeling of fear and suspense which I found surprising because I already knew what was coming. I was with a friend who had never read the book and he loved the movie. The movie like the book is meant to be a dark comedy. If you go watch this movie and expect anything less you will be dissapointed. Even with the violence toned down it is still a great story and still just as shocking. The real question is did Patrick really kill or was it all the childlike imagination of a man who thought he had to be perfect but could not live up to the ideal. Remember "This is not an exit." Watch the movie first then read the book.

Summary: CooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooL
Review: Awesome! While truly gross, it is pretty good. From the business card scene to the first killings, this film excels in horror, comdey, and a little bit of drama. See it as soon as possible! (Read the book too!)

Summary: Truly brilliant film
Review: I was shocked by how good this movie was. Having read the book, and loved it, I wondered how a movie could have been made out of a novel with no real beginning, middle, or end. I also wondered how the filmmakers would use Patrick Bateman's thoughts on pop music in the film, since in the novel they were really just 5 to 10 page essays about his interpritations of the songs.

What I got was a film that, like the book, just dropped us in on the life of Patrick Bateman. The film toned down the violence in the book, but that is about it. The film really captured the satire of 80's life very well.

Though this film isn't a comedy I found myself laughing all the way through, just like I did with the book. A word of warning, this film should not be taken at face value. There is a lot going on here. If you are not in the mood to think don't watch this movie, however if you want to be challenged I cannot think of a better film to see.

Before I sign off I would just like to state that, in my opinion, the bar has been set for lead actor this year. Christian Bale you are the one to beat.

Summary: Don't even bother...
Review: I went to the premier of this movie at Sundance... it was by far the most disappointing movie I saw at the festival this year. The hype of Christian Bale is the only reason this movie was been picked up by anyone. It truly sucked. Don't even waste your time on this disappointing film.

Summary: Psychotic Psycho? A paradox......
Review: A killer is on the loose.....sickening killings. Really sicking. American Psychos is more of a nasty graphical killing film rather then a scary film like "Scream". Wonderfully depicted off of the novel, although I do recommend seeing the book before seeing this film. Anyways, its well worth seeing it for its interesting value rather than the "shock" or "scary" value. If you can't watch "Gone In Sixty Seconds", then watch this.
