Summary: It's funny because its true.
Review: I worked at a video store for 3 years and I have seen so much of this movie happen in reality that seeing it on screen is like a breath of fresh air. Sombody out there understands that if you ask me "what is a good film for a twelve yoear old girl who is ill and doesnt like horses" - I havnt got a clue.Thank you Kevin Smith you are one funny guy.

Summary: Worth the extra money
Review: I have to disagree with the previous reviewer in their complaint about the extra cost of the special edition of CLERKS. Simply put, if you enjoyed the movie, then the extra scenes and commentary is definitly worth the added cost.

Summary: one of the best movies ever made in the history of film..but
Review: as before mentioned by just about everyone here, clerks is by far one of the best movies ever made (infact it would be #1 if there were no evil dead trilogy), but my problem is that the DVD is simply too expensive. i mean come on, you can pick up the VHS copy of the movie for around $10..yet it costs 4 times as much to buy the DVD which is even cheaper to produce! would you give these people (disney) that much extra money to kill you and your family!? because that is what you are doing! taking hard earned money from your pocket that is used to feed your loving family and just throwing it away to disney which OBVIOUSLY doesnt deserve it now do they?! thats right, we are all over you disney and we are going to shut you down at the source!

Summary: the best movie i've ever seen
Review: everyone who thinks that you can make a movie without money is wrong, this film is unique in his genre and every smart person must see this movie

Summary: Great. The most Profound movie I have ever seen
Review: CLERKS is the best movie that I have ever seen. I review movies for my local radio station so I see a lot of movies. It is about the worst day in Dante's (main character) life. Everything that can go wrong, does. If you only saw the movie, you need to see the collectors edition DVD. The alternate ending will "blow you away"!

Summary: Great movie, but not a great DVD
Review: My first viewing of "Clerks" was in a movie theatre, and I laughed so hard that I didn't even notice how bad it looked. It was made for $27000 and it shows. I think it's a great film and that homemade quality adds appeal, but it looks particularly cheesy on DVD. My main reason for giving this a mediocre 2 stars is the quality of the extras. The deleted scenes are just stuck on the disc, and the commentary track by Kevin Smith and cohorts is poorly recorded and for the most part uninsightful. It's funny in parts - particularly enjoyed hearing Smith belch and hiccup, and Jason Mewes snore - but really not for the reasons you'd expect. Still, I'd say buy the DVD if it weren't so damn expensive. The film cost about a nickel to make, and not much more was put into producing the DVD extras. This just isn't worth the money. IF you must own "Clerks," get the VHS version or wait for the price to come down on the DVD.

Summary: one of the funniest movies ever made
Review: If you only see one Kevin Smith movie ever (though why would you want to limit yourself?), definitely see "Clerks"--it's as funny (if not funnier) than "Chasing Amy," and without the star power...All the people scared by the truly unscary "Blair Witch Project," and turned on by the largely unmerited critical acclaim it has received, need to see "Clerks" to understand how truly creative low-budget films ought to be made.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A comedy classic.
Review: I think only clerks will truly appreciate this movie. We can relate to it. For the rest of you, it's just a laugh riot and an interesting way to see things on our side of the counter. Nevermind the language, it's just plain funny.

Summary: Great Movie, But Will the Extra Stuff Be Released on VHS?
Review: The first movie I saw by Kevin Smith was Mallrats. It got me hooked. The next day I rented Clerks and Chasing Amy. The man is such a great writer. I love how the characters are referred to in all three movies (Rick Derris, Julie Dwyer, and especially the Jones sisters).

Everyone is in a uproar over The Blair Witch Project, saying it's a new format and whatnot, but they forget about another low budget, black and white movie shot on 16MM starring actors no one's heard of. This is independent film at its finest, from the opening scene where Dante crashes out of his closet to the end where he asks Randal to "Randal out of the store," this film is a keeper.

My only complaint is that I'm not aware of a special edition being released on VHS, only DVD. Why should I suffer because I don't own a DVD player. Do you hear me Smith?! Release it on VHS. I want the complete version!
