Summary: FANTASTIC
Review: This film is a work of art in the meld of showing the good working with the ugly to overcome the bad in all facets of life. This is a FANTASTIC WESTERN!

Summary: This is not a standard Western. This is a Western opera.
Review: This movie is a sweeping homage to a forgotten genre, with multi-faceted characters, lush photography, and an unforgettable music score. Eastwood's ultra-capable Man With No Name is the quitessential survivor, forming an uneasy alliance with a Mexican outlaw (Eli Wallach in perhaps his best role) in a search for hidden gold. Lee Van Cleef lends his usual steely-eyed presence as the third member of the trio in search of the treasure. The movie is actually one great collection of moments that ring true, one right after the other. Wallach running through the Sandhill Cemetery, looking for the right grave where the gold is buried, to the tune of Ennio Morricone's pounding score, is absolutely unforgettable. Not to be missed.

Summary: Simply the best western ever made
Review: A flat, desolate, barren wasteland that was the old west - the "good" of the title steeped in irony - an absolutely awesome (not "awesome" in the vernacular, but actually awe inspiring)score - an incredible ending - my god, has any western ever approached this film? no cardboard cutout "black hat v. white hat" cliches here - just a character study in the forces of greed, guilt (has there ever been a more poignant scene than when the Ugly meets his brother), and evil that propel men to act the way they do - this movie simply defies description; words fail me in attempting to relate the importance of this movie . . . I have watched this movie countless times in the past 20 years, and it still can be summed up in only one word- AMAZING

Summary: One of the greatest films of all time. See it NOW.
Review: I love this film to death and just have to let everyone know! The scene where Tuco tries to find the grave of Arch Stanton is an absolute joy to behold. The final shootout is perfection itself - it drips tension. The scene where Blondie gives the dying soldier a cigarette is as touching a scene as you could wish for... as is the scene where Tuco greets his padre brother.

The opening scene is unique - an ugly face stares directly at you... and humour! Tuco takes a bubble bath! And that theme song? So unusual... so wonderful. This film has it all.

Summary: Picture Quality WOW
Review: Watch the VHS of this movie then watch the DVD. The colors seem to be more vibrant on the DVD. The outtakes let's you get a deeper perspective into the storyline, however you must read the english subtitles. THE GOOD, THE BAD, & THE UGLY is bigger and better than ever.

Summary: One of the classic movies
Review: I agree with most of the other viewers. I find the widescreen format of the DVD enhances one of my favorite movies, especially toward the end credits when Blondie is riding away into the "vastness of the West". The clarity and brightness of the DVD transfer far surpasses my old VHS tape. The soundtrack is not Dolby Digital spactacular, but DD wasn't available in 1967. I found one of the seven additional scenes to be important, but can still live without the other six.

Summary: Der Begriff "Cool" wird neu definiert

Summary: DVD not at it's best.
Review: As far as the movie goes it's a clssic. But as far as the DVD transfer it s*cks. The movie was never cleaned up. The audio only comes out of your center speaker if you play it on D.digital. I origanaly took the first DVD I purchased back to the store because I thought it was encoded wrong. But much to my surprise MGM did not take any time time to preserve this classic on a great format.
