Summary: The Blue Meanies are indeed Coming
Review: This is my favorite animation of all time. I am a huge fan of anime but I choose this movie over any of them. The thing is, alot of people think the producers were on drugs when making this. That simply isn't so. They made the film surrealistic in a drug-induced essence to hint at the fact that the Beatles were deeply influenced by illegal narcotics during the time of this film.In any case, the film is a visual treat for any age, even children because the strange images and creatures opens the vast imagination of children's mind. The characters also are always fun to watch. Like the cute lil' nowhere man, the psychotic effeminate Chief of the Blue Meanies, and of course, the wise-cracking Fab Four. Buy this movie, or at least rent it.

Summary: Fantastic, but not for everyone
Review: People don't seem to understand that this movie is definitely NOT for everyone. It helps to be a Beatles fan and a fan of the late 60's/early 70's counterculture movement, as well as have an appreciation for psychedelic drugs and their effects. It's nothing you can put on the telly today and expect people to like or get it. I personally love it, but I wouldn't make just anyone watch it.

Summary: Like an old, comfortable sweater
Review: I remember watching this for the first time when I was about five years old. Then I thought it was just silly and colorful, and had a bunch of good songs and wierd British dialog. It's funny, but I always knew that there was more to it that met the eye, even then.

After seeing it again, I'm not sure that I understand that much more but I can see why the Beatles quit experimenting with halucinogens. Of course this is one of those movies that you have to see to believe, partially for the nostalgia, but mostly because the content is so unusual. Basicly it's an acid trip that drives like a musical.

Obviously the animation is archaic, and would probably bore most teenagers today, but it has been remastered exquisitly and the movie content seems to be unaltered. The soundtrack sounds really great too, making for a very enjoyable experience.

If you are a Beatles fan, you should probably own this or risk being ridiculed by other Beatles fans. If you've never seen this movie, you must- if it's been a while, you should.

Summary: boring film CARTOON TRASH!!!!
Review: one reviewer from the US is right, got the same opinion like hers! I would rate the film is like a cartoon trash and boring story. Scooby Doo of Hanna barbera production is better than this one
But the film can be given to the children during their school holiday.

Summary: Yellow Submarine
Review: I thought this movie was really stupid; and it's very boring. This movie made no sense at all. I can't understand why The Beatles didn't do there own voices anyway. ... I'd give this movie a try once, then give it anyway, ...

Summary: Echoes From Pepperland and Sgt Pepper's Band
Review: This movie has shown it's age but remember the film afterall was made in 1968. There are a lot of movies that were made in 1968 and later that don't hold up. Afterall, this is 2003, some 35 years later. Newer things come along and upstage older movies.

Having said that......I think Yellow Submarine still has some good qualities and is still (35 year old film) better than about 90% of the junk that comes out today. Something 35 years old isn't going to be as fresh as it is when it first comes out. I wonder how 2003 films are going to seem in 2038. This film has good music and is good movie for kids from about 7-12 years old. Granted the film doesn't have the newness it once had when it came out and is not as crisp as newer films, but for kids that are 7-12 years old haven't seen it, they may like it. It just depends on how jaded the children are and if parents have let them watch more edgy/violent/foul mouthed/animated films like Beavis and Butthead. If that is the case, the kids will view Yellow Submarine as too simple. That's too bad really. Maybe they have to see it before they are 5 years old.

I haven't gone too technical about Yellow Submarine because I guess everyone has said everything there is to say about the film in other reviews here. In 2003, I think Yellow Submarine has become just a good animated film for children. A film for children who don't have a clue who the Beatles were. A good film to give your children some variety besides seeing the semi-recent and recent new Disney animated films (like Toy Story etc...). After all, Paul (McCartney) did say in an interview way back in the 60's that he wrote the "Yellow Submarine" song with John(Lennon)with children in mind as a sort of children's song. Maybe that is how this film should be viewed. Not a film for adults, but a fantasy film for children to get a glimpse of Pepperland, Sgt Pepper and a glimpse of the Beatles who once were.

Summary: The Beatles set a new trend
Review: The Beatles, one of the greatest things to hit the US shores have always been innovative lads. This film proves this once again.

Based on a story line provided by Erich Segal (yes, the one who wrote Love Story) this psychadelic romp features some fine music and quite interesting graphics to boot.

What is sad however, is that the Beatles themselves had little to do with this film and only ushered it out as they had 1 more film to do for their contract with United Artists. The result is sorely felt as we are not even given the priviledge of hearing their own characters use their actual voices.

In short, this film makes for great Saturday afternoon viewing, as I have done for thousands of times. It's very whimsical in a sense and has some cute moments in it, most with Ringo and his little friend Hilary.

This classic has it's place in histoury as it truly reflects the times. Gaudy colours and surreal scenery only compliment the haze that was felt in the 60's. It's still worth viewing time to time just for that alone. New audiences will be pleased with the charming affect this film has and older audiences will surely enjoy the nostalgia.

Summary: What???????
Review: When I was about 12 my uncle (who loved it when he was a kid) played it on his computer. Being someone, who (at the time) would watch anything for lack of better things to do, managed to sit through it. my 10 year old brother tried to turn it off, but did not know how to work a DVD-Rom.
IT MADE ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE!!!!!! Mabye if I was smoking pot I would have been able to catch on to the "artistic quality" of the movie. Or mabye I just lack the occult knowledge to understand it. Mabye I should have played it backwards. Well, blinded by my myopic view of REALITY, I couldn't make any sense of it. There is one thing I want to find out; how did this movie get made? What was the writer smoking?
