Summary: Do Movies get much better than this???
Review: This is my favorite musical of all time. It's wonderfully done, and the story is excellent. Julie Andrews did a great job in her first ever cinematic role, she plays a magical nanny that comes to a rich man's house in order to bring the family back together. What I love about her performance is that she looks very confident and so straight forward and firm, not as playful as you may think. The film also has Dick Van Dyke in the role of Bert, who is a very good friend of Mary Poppins and also handles magic very well. That role was funny and very entertaining(the accent is a bit confusing though), and i loved all of his dance numbers, especially Step In Time, the dance on the roof-top. Another excellent performance was David Tomlinson, who did the role of George Banks, the father of the children. He is very firm and strict, but he can also be very clumsy and forgetful, which is another reason I liked him. His song The Life I Lead was also great. This film was prized with five well-deserved Academy Awards, for the excellent Film Editing, the Visual Effects, like the jump into the pavement picture, the tea party on the ceiling and the smoke ladder, the excellent score, the song Chim Chim Cheree, which may have not been the best song, but one of them had to win, and last but not least, the excellent (oscar-winning) performance by Julie Andrews. I cannot find any more words for this film, so I'll leave you with one word. Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious

Summary: Laughter, the best medicine
Review: This most wonderful of Disney musicals has been at the top of my all-time best movies list ever since I saw it back in 1964. It's a very humanistic, loving film, but love that has a backbone (snip-snap, as Mary poppins says). It's sweet, silly, touching and still holds up very well technically. I never fail to get a kick out of Ed Wynn (in his last movie role, the father of now deceased as well Keenan Wynn) and the tea party on the ceiling. It's an ideal antidote for the blues ... and those corny old vaudville jokes Dick Van Dyke and Ed share up there ... great fun. The message "Let's go fly a kite" -- to take some time off and enjoy life is more relevant today than it was then. It really measures up to the highest standards of family filmmaking.

Review: My son finds it hillarious that this was one of my favorite movies when I was his age. Recently we have both started to try to find things that we both liked at different times. like a common ground. Although, when he first watched it he just wanted to watch Dick VanDyke make funny faces and we continually had to keep rewinding to those scenes, now he enjoys the entire movie and even collects Mary Poppins stuff, which is hard to find. But we are all in on it and it makes it like a scavenger hunt, who can find what. He even got a signature from Dick VanDyke himself. We both feel that he did not get enough credit for his rolls, but this is still truley a classic and a bringing together for all ages.

Summary: Brilliant!
Review: This whimsical film is one of my favorite Disney movies ever! It has aged well, and it's message (kids may sometimes need nannies, but they need their parents more) is more timely today than when this movie was made in 1964. Who hasn't wanted to jump into a chalk drawing and say "Super-cali-fragi-listic-expi-alidocious"? Who hasn't wanted to dance on the rooftops in the magical realm of the chimney sweeps? Who hasn't wanted to have a tea party on the ceiling? And (my favorite) who hasn't wanted to clean their room with just a spoonful of sugar and a snap of their fingers? Like the title character, this classic is "Practically Perfect in Every Way"!

Review: A simply magical musical. Disney's finest. I enjoy this film more now than when I was a kid. Exceptional digital and audio transfer.

Review: I saw this movie when I was just a kid and I loved it then. I saw it again now after so many years and I still loved it as much!! This is simply a great classic masterpiece that everyone should see and have!

Summary: HAHAHAHA! GIVE ME A BREAK
Review: This is one of the worst films to hit the Disney masterpiece collection. It's an overrated movie for ages 5 and younger. The characters didn't interest me at all and The "CHIM CHIMITY" song was awful and so where were the other songs. If Disney dosent get their act together they will fall and DreamWorks will rise.

Review: How can one not give this film more than five stars? How about 20 stars!! An incredible feat, this first film to incorporate animation with live action. Dick Van Dyke and ensemble, not to mention Julie Andrews, who I believe is so credible as Mary Poppins, and she's so likeable, laughable that it's a shame that no other movies came along with her, but that was before sequels. I'd say that this is at the top of the heap of all the best and the brightest of movies. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! And after you've seen it, you'll all want to "...go fly a kite," as the song said. Inspiring, romantic, and it makes you feel good, too.

Review: MARY POPPINS is classic Disney fare, and one of the best and timeless movie musicals in the history of film. It's great all around, and Julie Andrews deserved her Oscar. What this reviewer would like to reiterate is the performance of Dick Van Dyke. A solid performance with a British cockney accent, singing, and excellent physical dance routines (i.e. dancing with animated penguins!) to rival Gene Kelly. Not bad for someone who really isn't a trained dancer. Dick Van Dyke's starring role equaled that of Julie Andrews and probably was the highpoint of his career next to his tv show. If given a lifetime award, it would be for this performance. If someone else had the part of Bert, the film would not be the classic it is today. Kudos to Dick Van Dyke and to MARY POPPINS.

Summary: Sure to get your children dancing!
Review: My 2 year old LOVES this movie!!! I bought this hoping we could share it, and it has been a HUGE hit! The music, actors, and animation are perfect for adults and children. But be warned, my daughter was so excited dancing with the movie, she danced right into a wall. She's fine now, and still loves it, and just can't help but get up and dance around the house whenever it's on. It's a little long at 139 minutes, but when everyone is happy, it goes by quickly.
