Summary: So Cliche It's Good
Review: All the diva jokes and funny one liners are all very typical and cliche of this type of movie, but still between Jenifer Lewis and Tim Curry they manage to pull it off and still make it a damn good movie.
While reading through the other reviews for this product, I noticed that everyone constantly praises Lewis but unless I missed something, no one said a thing about Curry.
I'm not trying to take the spotlight away from Jenifer Lewis...she was amazing considering that this is her first movie. However, no one has acknowledged Tim's great work on the film.
I heard someone comment the other day that his acting was too [unrealistic]and over the top in this movie. Hello! ... He's supposed to be acting like that, considering that he plays the part of the host of a low budget documentary. Some people can be real stupid, ...
Anyway, I thought I was going to die laughing when I saw the look on Tim's face when Jackie's cross-dressing dress designer came into her dressing room. I also loved it when Jackie's playmama said that white people all smelled like wet potatoe chips. Again, Tim's face was priceless. He's the kind of actor that's good enough that he needs no words to get his point across, the expression says it all.
Another one of my favorite parts is when he admits to Jackie that when first asked to do the documentary he had never heard of her, and then she said, 'They played my records in England,' and he replies, 'Yes...but I never heard them.'
Anyway, it's filled with plenty of other gut busting scenes. I've waited and waited for this movie to be released on DVD after I first saw it on Lifetime...and finally my wish has come true.
Buy Jackie's Back today, it's so bad it's good.

Review: Finally! I have been waiting for "Jackie's Back" to be released on DVD for 3 years! I have also been waiting for LifeTime to replay it for 3 years! This movie is a hidden treasure that many did not catch the first time, but is filled with good times and lots of laughs. The writing is smart and funny. The casting is right on. Jennifer Lewis rocks! Check it out and you won't be disappointed!!! Just remember - "In the end...the spiritual journey is all that matters... thank you! SAY NO MORE!!!"

Summary: Fresh and funny
Review: Great movie. Written in a mockumentary style, it draws from every facet of pop culture with a slew of guest stars. It pokes fun of today's 'divas', black exploitation, and celebrities to boot. A fresh and funny movie full of dry comedy. Definite reccomendation.

Summary: One of the funniest movies I have EVER SEEN!
Review: I have been looking for this movie for TWO years!!! Jenifer Lewis is one of the most versatile actresses in TV and Film. I laughed so hard at this "mockumentary" that I cried for days. I taped it from Lifetime but I watched it so much that the tape broke! I am so happy to have found it on Amazon! My friends will die when they know I found it! I can't wait to have a Jackie's Back Party!

Review: I thought this movie was soooo funny! It is so funny to see how Jackie transitioned into the years as a "superstar" then to a "nobody"..then she got a nerve to do a comeback! ha ha ha. ETHEL.. oh no, now she told how her sister REALLY is. =) Anyway, this was a good movie that I've looked at several times since I've gotten it. I highly recommend it. Where is Antandra?

Summary: Jackie's Back And How!!!
Review: If you have not seen this spoof on the entertainment business, you have truly missed out. From the moment this film starts and to the final credits rolling, it is one belly-laugh after another. The script, cast, and director(Robert Townsend)are first rate.(These are three essential ingredients for a great comedy.) Jenifer Lewis does a top-notch job as "Jackie Washington".It's a shame that this film was not a theatrical feature.Jenifer Lewis could have been nominated for an Academy Award.Do not "YIELD, YIELD,YIELD".See this "Portrait of a Diva" and become a fan too.

Summary: Dynamite and Funny as you know what, but that ending....
Review: Loved this movie. There are SO many genuinely funny and campy moments here. Patti Austin at Peaches Yancy's funeral is a hoot; the woman just won't STOP singing! Jennifer Lewis is fabulous and so is young lady that plays Jackie's faithful daughter Entendre (Make that a DOUBLE Entendre). The only complaint I have is the ending. All of the sudden we get this bittersweet, force fed weeper ending which doesn't fit into the framework of the rest of the movie. Overall, though it doesn't detract from the enjoyment of the movie. Just a minor quibble, since the ending of ANY movie does leave an impression. It almost has the feel of something that was forced on Robert Townsend by the Network. Maybe not. Please buy this DVD, though. If you appreciate the ridiculous excess of modern and classic Divas you'll love it!!

Summary: One of the Best
Review: Most of the Lifetime Original Movies are dramas, which is what makes Jackie's Back! so special. I still remember how hard I laughed the first time I saw it on TV, and I am very excited that it's finally being released. It's original and everyone in the cast is great, especially the stars that play themselves. Truly a wonderful film.
