Review: It is SO refreshing to see a movie that even teens can relate to that has MORALS. Gosh, what a concept. The skateboarding scenes are great and the morals are great. Loved it. Wish this company would create more movies like this. Does anyone know of any more that have come out?

Review: Life's a trip. Extreme Days drives home this point in an extremely clear and entertaining manner, and that is one aspect of the film I greatly appreciate. But something's missing.
Extreme Days tells the story of four life-long friends: Will (A.J. Buckley), Brian (Ryan Browning), Corey (Dante Basco), and Matt (Derek Hamilton). After taking four years to complete a two-year college program, the four extreme sports fans decide to embark on one last road trip together before going their separate ways in their adult lives. Their plan is to surf, skate, and snowboard their way across the West Coast. So they each quit their jobs, pack up, and hit the road with only a couple hundred bucks to support them. But their road trip adventure is about to take some unexpected and life-changing turns.
Soon after they arrive at their first destination, Mexico, Corey learns that his grandfather (Chao Li Chi) has died and that he left Corey in possession of his old roadster and a substantial amount of money. The four road travellers then decide to attempt a trip to the home of Corey's grandmother (Virginia Montero) and accompany Corey as he collects his inheritance.
Along the way, they stumble across a beautiful damsel in distress named Jessie (Cassidy Rae). They offer her a ride, and together they continue their road trip adventure, skateboarding, snowboarding, biking, and motocrossing along the way. But when they finally arrive at the home of Corey's grandmother, an unexpected and disastrous dilemma faces them, and through their experience, the five friends learn firsthand that life is a trip, a journey that God desires to help every person fulfill.
As I said before, I greatly appreciate this film's message, and the way in which it is presented. Still, there is something missing. It is a somewhat shallow film; basically a music video with a plot. There is a substantial lack of character development. The choreography frequently switches from professional choreography to below average, amateur choreography using a handheld camera, and this frquent switch tends to be distracting and annoying. The performances are not very authentic; the actors do not seem to feel comfortable onscreen, and their performances are average at best; they do not come off as being real. The storyline is one aspect of the film that is very well done; there is an excellent kickoff and a great culmination, and in between, everything builds up to the message this film is successful at driving home. The underlying message is in my mind the best aspect of this movie, and screenwriters Eric Hannah and Craig Detweiler are superb in the way they exhibit that message. Eric Hannah also directs the film.
On a scale of 1 to 5, this film gets a three. The message of the movie is its greatest aspect, and it is definitely a redeeming quality, compensating for poor character development, choppy choreography, and amateur acting. Extreme Days is worth watching for its underlying message, a message that personally challenged and inspired me to be who God wants me to be.

Review: One thing being copiously quoted from this movie is certainly true - the claim that we're living in extreme days. Extreme days these are indeed when so many "Christians" fall into singing the praises of this as a supposedly "Christian" movie. Are an ever greater portion of "Christians" becoming like the infamous People's Temple that met its demise back around 1982, willing to fall for whatever they are told in "Christian" guise, even if told to drink cyanide? It's hard to grasp how anyone's Christian discernment has not already received its lethal dose of cyanide when such a one can fall for this as a "Christian movie". A relatively minor problem with this lies in the way the guys in this movie talk at times of how their participation in extreme sports helps them know they're alive. The notion of needing to flirt with danger to know one is alive is dubious enough to equate with any Christian experiencing of the divine, and it's downright irresponsible to lead young people to associate such risk-taking with Christian meaning. But the really fatal flaw to any thought of this being a Christian movie comes through its supposed heroine, Jesse, who joins the guys in their adventures. She's a self-righteous person who supposedly teaches the guys valuable "lessons about life" and calls upon them to practice pre-marital abstinence. But she's hardly one to "save" them, and her demands for pre-marital abstinence must grow out of self-absorbed narcissism, not real Christian committment. If in no other way, her hypocricy is thoroughly exposed when the group of main characters fights another group they meet over who gets the last available campsite at a campground. Yes, they fight in this "Christian" movie. Jesse is the only female in either group. At least in the male on male pairings in the fight, some semblance to fair fighting is practiced. But Jesse goes against a guy who declines to fight back. That doesn't keep her from giving him a good beating while HE turns the other cheek. Finally he presents her a bouquet of flowers as a peace offering. She pretends she's going to accept them, only to get close enough to surprise him with a swift karate kick to his crotch! Gee, what a "Christian"! Enough said.

Summary: This movie was FUN!
Review: Our family sat down to watch this DVD expecting it to be kind of dweebish. We had seen the ad a couple of years ago in a christian publication, so we kind of expected it to be not really up to par. We were surprised as we started laughing from the very beginning of the film. It maintained it's humor all the way through, never got preachy...the spiritual input was low key, like conversations around the campfire kind of stuff. We are looking forward to owning this movie and sharing it with friends. We really enjoyed it! Even our college age son- majoring in film, thought it was good.

Review: Overt Christian artistry takes yet another turn for the better, utilizing low overhead, capitalizing on the already lucrative Christian rock business, and zero-ing in on a target audience in this movie about extreme sports. Music video like in quality, furious extreme images hold interest throughout this creatively written comedy. The slap-stick style, reminiscent of "The Mighty Ducks," and narrated story, paying homage to "The Wonder Years," add points quickly to audience favorability and only rarely does one see a whole in logic or plot. As movies go, teeange audiences may find this one extremely relatable, minus the day-to-day garbage they must sort through. Check it out - you might just relate.

Review: Please get real. As much as we christians want to cheer and celebrate something that's made with a right purpose, we must draw a line when it comes to the concept of quality. This movie, is maybe the worst I have ever seen, in every single aspect of cinematography.

Let me open your eyes a little: This film IS THE REASON why everyone loses interest in christian film or music making. I am embarrased that this movie could represent christian creativity.
Lame plot, stupid jokes, TERRIBLE directing, the worst writing ever (I felt so bad in that fighting scene...I wanted to hide myself in the couch...and I was watching it alone!), bad acting too, and religious to the bone. I would NEVER EVER show this to someone I'm trying to get saved, because he would think: Christianity is so low. Why can't we make films that stand up with secular films? Why do we keep making TRASH (Left Behind, this rubbish, Apocalypse now, etc)? The only thing it makes me think is...we are inferior. And we're not! You know what's the saddest thing? He had some money. Enough to make a much better movie. Sad.

Overall and taking out the scolding message, if you don't even know that this was a christian film, or if you don't even care, SKIP this, it's a worthless piece of rubbish. Artless..mindless.

Summary: Cassidy Rae is awesome in this movie
Review: Sport scenes are o.k., but to watch the BEAUTY and CHARISMA of Cassidy Rae in this movie will make you fall in love with her. I wish her a great carrer and lots of other big movies. Watch out for her smiles in the spoon-game. Bottom line Fun movie.
