Rating: Summary: "Lay Down Your Funky Weapon!" Review: .... ...I really liked this movie. Yeah it's funny, yeah it's refreshing, and yeah it is a movie that involves a little bit of the black "uncle tom" in it. .... The story is easy to follow, but it had a lot of surprises. For heaven's sake you are supposed to be thrown off a little. I know everyone is tired of being able to guess the whole plot, and who the actual bad guy is. .... I thought it was refreshing that this movie made me wait for the story to unfold. That was mostly due to it's originality of the scenes. ....
Rating: Summary: A Double-Star Movie Review: An investment banker (Jones) is framed for laundering Mexican drug cartel money. On the run, he takes another man's (Griffin) passport, only to find that he's stuck with the identity of a street hustler that's more wanted than he is.
Rating: Summary: decent yet spinny Review: Don't get me wrong, this movie isn't bad it just isn't that good either. It keeps you guessing but in the end when you find out who's side who is on, it doesn't make sense. If you think back to different scenes in the movie, I know they want to keep you guessing, but some of the incounters don't seem to fit when you see who is playing on what team in the end. Funny and pretty entertaining but too messed up to keep you from leaving the fantasy world of entertainment.
Rating: Summary: Double Take Review: Double Take was a hilarious movie. Eddie Griifin and Orlando Jones were funnier then Chris Rock and all of the other comiedans will ever be. Great acting by everyone else in the movie
Rating: Summary: Say what? Review: Double Take. Can we say predictable? No. Can we say hard to understand? Yes. For almost the entire movie, I had a hard time grasping what the heck was going on. There were about a billion plot holes that were never filled, and a lot of pointless, unexplained happenings. This was yet another one of those movies that you had to use your psychic abilities to figure out just what was happening. But, on the other hand, Double Take was hilarious. At first, Eddie Griffin was incredibly annoying, but he grows on you and becomes very funny. Also, the ending was superb. It turned out to be a mystery as to who were really the bad and good guys. Double Take is a movie I wouldn't rank as the one of the smartest and well thought out movies ever, but if you want to laugh a lot, then rent it. Take a chance on this one. 3 Stars
Rating: Summary: Double Take me home Review: Has anything ever happened to you and you found out it was all a scam? Well this man does! Want a great movie filled with many laughs for the whole family, then this is a great catch! When Darryl Chase(Orlando Jones) is forced to leave the state, he mysteriously keeps bumping into Freddie Tiffany(Eddie Griffin) As he helps him get out, they bump into many problems along the way. Pay very close attention to this movie and nothing can get by you.
Rating: Summary: Double take your money... Review: Have you ever had a rotten day and come home to see your wife cheating on you, your brother teaching your kids to take drugs, your mom sleeping with the cable repair guy, your dog vommiting on your expensive leather coat.... If this didn't happened to you as it did to me about 1 week ago before seeing this movie in theaters, then nothing can prepare you properly for the theatrical viewing of Double Take. When I first entered the theater I quickly noticed the jokes were in the seats. Not in my entire lifetime had I seen a theater so empty. Since I was arriving from a bar to meet my girlfriend and her friend, the few who were in the theater must've had time to prepare for this movie as they were already cozzied up in their favorite sleeping bags. Unfortunately, I couldn't help but get dragged into this one, my girlfriend's friend really really wanted to see it, and its impossible to argue with her since her favorite motions are a swift kick... Anyways, half asleep and half dehydrated from the lack of a moist story, I noticed one thing about this movie that I think most people have, it doesnt make any sense. Of course no one around me knew what was going on, because they were all wrapped up in their sleeping bags, sleeping nice and cozy. I figured I'd keep my eyes open a little bit longer to see if it was at least funny...nope. This story is so unrealisitic, I'd swear hollywood thinks I'm an inbred with a pitch fork stuck up my a**. Because with the pain of pitchfork in the right place, this movie would be so so so much more bearable to watch. In the movies defense I say it doesnt have a story because its a comedy...ha! I laughed once during the entire movie, and it was when my girlfriends friend got her own gum stuck in her hair...ha! Anyways, I suppose there are a few scenes that are funny, and maybe I expect too much when I go to the theaters...but all I know is purchasing this wretched piece of material is more expesive than a show, so if you need to rent it first...
Rating: Summary: One of the worst movies ever Review: Horrible. One of the worst movies I have ever seen. Bad acting, bad complicated plot. Not funny.
Rating: Summary: VERY ENTERTAINING! Good for teenagers. Not too violent. Review: I bought this used, so for the ... I paid, I definitely had gotten my moneys worth. This movie was very funny. You have to listen carefully, because the wisecracks are fast. There wasn't too much violence in this movie (which is something I like). There wasn't any sex either. Therefore this movie, other than a few "colorful words" was great for teenagers. There are a few gunshot dead people, but they don't show too much of the red stuff. Sorry, but I am tired of people using shocking violence and sex just to get my money. This plot was good, and so was the quick dialoge. Love that little doggy too!
Rating: Summary: Excellent Storyline Keeps You Guessing Review: I have only good words about this film. I loved the two actors pretrayal of one another. I am usually good at guessing and finding a plot for movies. This movie for the most part had me fooled. Not since Fallen have I been dumbfounded to find and understand the ending to a movie. This movie was also hillarious with several comedic scenes. The storyline or plot of the film had endless conclussions. A well educated Harvard graduate Chase (Jones) who is employed by a bank in New York. Chase also has a supermodel girlfriend. Encounters a would be criminal and scam artist Tiffany (Griffin). Perhaps one of Eddie Griffins best films. Eddie Griffin is a fantastic and powerful force in this film. He brings veteran and always also new comedic creations to all of his films. This one is no exception. Orlando Jones has been one of many comedic performers I have enjoyed over the years. He brings a new and unique energy to the film. Surprisingly this movie had a lot of action scenes for two comedic performers. I enjoyed all of the different scenes with most of the actors. Even though I am not a tough critic on movies. I watch movies for entertainment purposes first. Then I look for meaning and purpose. If most people would view movies this way, then they would find a lot more films to be entertaining.
