Summary: Pluto Nash is Underrated!!
Review: ... I could be putting my neck on the line here. But right is right. This is the first movie I've seen Eddie in recently that I've really liked. Sure, talking to the animals is cute...but that's all those movies really were. Cute. Lets face it, Eddie Murphy is a tremendous talent, and though its been a few years since he's really come out with anything spectacular, like his first Beverly Hills Cop, Coming to America or any of his other well constructed movies, he's had a bit of a slow run on really great scripts.

Okay, back to Pluto Nash...great acting, actually good and even timely jokes and comedy...and if you were really paying attention, the soundtrack was awesome. The music put the beat and heart into the whole film. Great score by John Powell, who did such movies as The Bourne Identity, Shrek, I am Sam and Evolution.

Rosario Dawson was excellent as the damsel (also the princess in Men in Black II - A movie with no script), and really made the film shine. Randy Quaid did an outstanding job of appearing to be an android (without a lot of special makeup). Mind you, the first couple of scenes with him did make we wonder if the film was going to be really hokey, but he pulled it off. That's takes talent.

Actually, the movie had a very strong cast and many cameo scenes from many long time friends and collaborators such as Peter Boyle, Pam Greir, John Cleese, Alec Baldwin and many more.

I was really surprised that the movie cost $100,000,000.00. It had the look and feel of a 1940 detective movie (soft), which I believe is what they were going for, and yet the effects were all excellent with the "look" they wanted. It is really a shame that Warner Brothers did not give the same treatment in advertising and marketing as they did to their mega bucks equivalent Men in Black II.

All in all it was a great film, lots of good humor (fairly clean too), great acting, great special effects, excellent action scenes, lousy advertising. I'm just waiting for the DVD...

Summary: In Space, No One Can See You Cringe.
Review: This "movie" wasn't even screened to critics prior to its release. It firebombed at the box office, incuring a huge loss for Warner Bros, which burned ... million to finance this film. Eddie Murphy has since distanced himself from the movie as far as he possibly could. Ask yourself: can you blame him?

Summary: Pluto Nash Rocks My World
Review: I never go to the movies because there is too many bad ones like Signs and XXX and Spiderman. There hasn't been a good movie since "Batman And Robin" in 1997 but when i heard of The Adventures Of Pluto Nash i was hoping it would be good and i thought it was a Masterpiece.

too many people give this film a hard time and it makes me really mad.

look for the sequel: The Misadventures Of Neptune Cash

Summary: Pluto Nash was better than M*A*S*H
Review: I went into this movie mistakenly thinking it was called Pluto MASH, and being a huge M*A*S*H fan, I couldn't pass up the chance to see a film version of my favorite wise-cracking doctors, Klinger and Hawkeye. To my shock, this was a sci-fi movie, and Alan Alda was replaced by a guy named Eddie Murphy. I've never heard of this Eddie guy, but he is HI-larious! I've searched out some of his films like Dr. Doolittle and The Nutty Professor, and found them to be very family friendly, so I'll be picking up a title for my kids called "Eddie Murphy Raw." I hope he's as sweet and likable in that as he was in Pluto Nash. It's bumped Aliens off as my favorite science fiction movie.

Summary: A complete bomb
Review: Eddie Muprhy is in so many films, and I know it's unpopular to like him, but I think he is extreemley talented. This is a bad film, but what surprised me is that it cost $100 million to make, but I guess it went over budget, so as a result there was little advertising. It made 2.2 million in it's opening weekend. Sometimes studios fell that since they spent that much money. Would you wrater release a film that cost 100 mil and got 2.2, or a film that cost anything under that and grossed anything higher than that. As a studio, wouldn't you want the film that would make the most money at the box office, regardless of what it cost to make. What if it cost 20,000 to make and would pull in 10 million wrather than the other way around? Its about what will be most successful at the box office. If they lived this one out, I would do a better cut, and advertise it. Ive seen 2 ads for this, and about 25 for Spy Kids 2. Spy Kids 2 is doing well, and cost less to make. But your options go down if it is a bad film. However, they could make an awesome trailer, and get the people to see it. Even though I didn't like it, it is marketable. Now, they rushed to get this out, and their potential blockbuster (financially) is a bomb. A big budget bomb. This joins the category with another big budget bomb, Harlem Nights, with Eddie Murphy. They HAD to make a good preview (thers some funny material), and play it a lot. It wouldn't be a bomb. Nobody would like it, but they'd get there money back. Maybe it will be successful on VHS and DVD.

Summary: Less than a "B" movie
Review: I like Eddie Murphy VERY MUCH, however this should have been kept on a shelf or released direct to video.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: A true B movie
Review: *The Adventures of Pluto Nash* was an adequate way to pass some time, but hardly gripping. The humor was forced, the plot clichéd, and the acting tepid. So as not to sound completely negative, I admit that there are some genuinely entertaining moments and a surprise at the end, but the overall effect is rather flat.

The scenery is pretty and John Cleese puts in a charming cameo; that's about all I can say is right with it. Not that there's much wrong, either, but rather it's a mediocre show with some glitz on top. See it if the mood takes you, but wait until you can rent it or (better yet) borrow it for free from a public library.

Summary: Eddie - Please Read The Scipts Before Signing!
Review: THE ADVENTURES OF PLUO NASH was an extreme disappointment. The effects and detailing of the production design were somewhat impressive but it lacked the most important element - a story. I don't know what anyone was thinking they were making, but I didn't get it.

The performances of Eddie Murphy, Joe Palatino and a few strange bit parts were extremely disappointing and not very funny. However, the standout performers in this film were a car with the personality of John Cleese (Monty Python) and Randy Quaid. Randy was the most interesting and funniest of the group. The characters overall could not help the lack of story this movie had.

I can only remember one time I laughed out loud and that was when Eddie and his female lead were testing out new bodies. Venice Beach samples where he requested larger areas in his female partner. That was it. I would wait to rent this one. 8-20-02

Summary: Not As Advertised...
Review: I would like to give this movie 5 stars, and that's what I expected it to be. Unfortunatley, it left much to be desired. They tried to fit too much into the small time frame they alotted. I was, needless to say, disappointed. I thought it was going to be comedical, and it was more of a spin-off of Arnold Sw.'s Total Recall. My opinion, watch it with your kids, and not your date!
