Summary: Pluto crashes into the Moon
Review: I had high hopes for this movie but it only took about 30 minutes into it to discover that Eddie Murphy's comical timing is off and his humor is milked out. The robot played by what's his name was childish and ignorant too. Don't waste your money on it.

Summary: Oh, it wasn't THAT bad!
Review: All I hear about Pluto Nash is how bad it was, but it really wasn't THAT awful. I guess you have to approach it with initial skepticism to get anything out of it. With the stellar cast it had, yes, I was a little disappointed with the end result. It isn't all that funny, but it's entertaining enough that you won't be squirming in your seats. Don't expect anything too great, however. It's just a mild action comedy that doesn't really compare to much else out there. Worth a rental if you're dying for something to see on a boring weekend. But honestly, it really wasn't that bad!

Summary: a disaster of seismic proportions
Review: First there was "Howard the Duck;" then came "Ishtar;" now we have "The Adventures of Pluto Nash," a film so misguided in its conception and so ham-handed in its execution that it can take its rightful place among the great cinematic blunders of all time.

At what point, do you reckon, in the course of making this film, did star Eddie Murphy, director Ron Underwood and the investors at Warner Brothers Studios realize what a monumental turkey they had on their hands? In this classic misfire, Murphy plays a former smuggler turned nightclub owner who is being chased by a bunch of henchmen trying to muscle in on his scene. And, oh yes, did I forget to mention that this all takes place on the moon circa 2087? I kid you not. Well, all I can say is that "Total Recall" this is not.

What all these people could have been thinking of when they sank their money, their time and, most important, their reputations into this hopeless enterprise is beyond mere mortal understanding. Suffice it to say that, with the exception of some outstanding art direction, set design and special effects, "Pluto Nash" is stillborn from the word go. The story is banal, the acting stilted, the humor nonexistent. Most shocking of all are the alleged "action" sequences, which look as if they were shot and staged by some precocious junior high school students working on a class project for extra credit. Murphy, Rosario Dawson, Pam Grier, Peter Boyle, John Cleese, and, above all, Randy Quaid - all fine actors under other circumstances - are made to look as ridiculous as possible, running around like mad trying to take all this seriously and pretend that they AREN'T stuck in one of the legendary bombs of all time. It's truly a painful and embarrassing sight to behold.

Then again, how many actors can say they've appeared in one of the classic movie boners of all time? There's immortality of sorts even in that, I guess.

Summary: A funny flick.
Review: What can I say... It made me laugh...a lot! I don't go to the theater to see comedies (action is more suited to the big screen IMHO) so I can't say if I'd feel the same after dropping (...) on tickets and popcorn, but as a DVD it is worth the money.

Summary: Will the "old" Eddie Murphy please step forward...
Review: I can forgive Eddie Murphy a great deal--after all, I owe him quite a bit for all the very funny films he has made. Unfortunately, "The Adventures of Pluto Nash" isn't funny enough to make it worthwhile. The opening scenes with the accordion-playing-kilt-sporting-nightclub-singer were promising, and there was a brief flash of the old Eddie in the disgusting bathroom scene, however, apart from that, this was Eddie at possibly his worst. It's so frustrating to have this amazing talent flail around in such a tired, unfunny script. I haven't yet abandoned hope that Eddie Murphy will once again hit his stride, but, at this moment, I am feel bleak about the chances of him ever recouping his former hysterically funny glory without some sort of serious change or evaluation. Who selects these scripts? Does he need a new agent? Whatever the problem is, a great comedian is a rare and wonderful thing, and Eddie--and his fans--deserve better than this.

Summary: The Adventures of Pluto Nash
Review: I got "The Adventures of Pluto Nash" with "Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever" when I exchanged two movies I got for christmas. When I wacthed it for the first time I was plesently surpriesd. It was a funny movie and I enjoyed the very detalied special effects. Over all I was pleased that I got it. It was a fun movie and I don't understand why the critics hated it. I recomend for you to rent it, you'll like it.

Summary: meh
Review: Yeah this is a dumb movie, but it was not a bad dumb movie. Not great, but not bad, in fact I actually liked this one a lot better than men in black 2. At least in this one I never expected daffy duck or some such to start chasing one of the characters around. The lack of bizarre aliens was a nice touch and that yellow haired thug freaked me out plenty so that's a plus.

Summary: future cult classic!
Review: Went to see this at a matinee because there was nothing else to see. My brother and I were 2 of 3 in the entire theatre. This movie was so bad it's destined to be an MST classic. I pre-ordered the DVD for the bro for a gift, just to remind him of the two hours we lost that day....A'ight!

Summary: Absolutely the WORST movie of 2002!
Review: I am delighted this movie is coming to DVD. It is absolutely awful--and sitting through it is like sitting through a 90-minute car wreck. The story is absurd and pointless, and it's fun to try and imagine at what point in filming Eddie Murphy gave up and just started to mail it in. Thanks to the DVD medium, not only can we watch this mess again and again (it's sure to become a cult classic), we can also gain some insight by listening to the director's commentary. This is a movie that's so bad, so misguided, and so poorly executed that one can only wonder "what in the world were they thinking?!" Movies like that don't come along every day (or do they?) and you have to enjoy them while you can. This DVD is a MUST HAVE purchase!
