Summary: a truly pathetic ending to the evil dead series
Review: let me just say that i am a big fan of the first two evil dead movies but when i finally saw this movie i was disgusted.
the first two might have been low budget but the make up effects were really awesome but in this one the effects were horribly done. second of all the evil dead series was set in a cabin in the woods and that's where it should've ended not in medieval times which is why i never really got into this movie. The third major point i have to make is this: Ash is supposed to fight zombies and not fake looking skeletons. I'm really thankful that they made a video game in which Ash goes back to the cabin but as far as Evil dead movies are concerned i'll stick to the first two.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: A great deal of fun. I was surprised.
Review: That third Evil Dead episode totally amazed me.
Probably because it went one step further in that
horror/comedy style that is so unique to Sam Raimi.

This movie is loaded with fun and gags left and right.
I have never found Ash so funny. Lots of good ideas
too and quite an impressive output with the limited
means involved at the time.

I might reproach that the horror/gore part is a little
too small, compared to Evil Dead I and II, but it's
still a very enjoyable movie.

I found it quite different than the other two, which
is what I was most surprised by.

The innovative sense of Mister Sam makes this movie
a must have in the genre. Of course, that might not
be a movie for everyone. Some people might find it
really stupid. It depends what frame of mind you
watch it in. I personally had a lot of fun. I wish
the movie was longer!

Summary: hillarious
Review: This is the third and final(?) installment in the Evil Dead series. It picks up where Evil Dead II leaves off. Ash is transported to the 14th Century where a war is going on , and he gains control over the kingdom with his chainsaw hand and "boomstick". In jokes from classic horror films , especially the hillarious Klatu , Verada , Nicto (from The Day The Earth Stood Still ) and Jason and The Agronauts inspired skeletons. Hillarious one liners ("Hail To The King Baby") and careless slapstick humor , acrobatic action , it's just great. Own it

Summary: Sugar
Review: Girl, "But I thought you said I was pretty..."
Ash, "Honey, you got real ugly."

One of my all time favorite quotes from Ash's final adventure with the Necronomicon. After the unfortunate opening of a time portal in the prequal Evil Dead II, Ash must pull himself together, new arm included, and battle the deadites. More comedy than horror, Army of Darkness is devoted to those fans of quirky and often violent humor, and no specific taste is necessary to savor the gritty expression's. Definately a Saturday or Sunday afternoon flick of the highest form.
Despite the previous 2's blatant/effective uses of gore for humor, Army of Darkness relies on wit and obviously time consuming special effect's. It barely earn's the R rating! If only for an off-camera shotgun blast to the face (believe it or not, daffy-duck can do the same without an R rating), I am sure another rating would have been given.

Bootleg this bad boy, and play it to the bone!

"Give me some sugar, baby."

Summary: A Great Conclusion!
Review: Warning: Spoilers

Army Of Darkness is the third movie in the Evil Dead series and possibly the last. Whether it's the last or not, it's awesome! The first was a way cool movie, and so was the second, and this didn't disappoint. It's got a pretty good plot that deals with Ash being sent back to the medieval ages where he teams up with Knights to fight Deadites and Skeleton Warriors. Lots of carnage ensues. AOD is not a very scary movie, but it sure is funny at times (like when Ash fights a whole bunch of mini-Evil Ashs') and is so entertaining. Evil Ash was one cool (and nasty) villain and the one-liners are as good as ever ("Good, Bad, I'm The Guy With The Gun") . Plus, the action scenes are so awesome, like the Ash Vs. Pit Deadites and the finale, wow! What a great finale! The ending scene is cool and is a nice way to wrap up this fantastic trilogy. Bruce Campbell turns in yet another terrific performance as Ash and is only rivaled by his performance in Evil Dead 2. Overall Army Of Darkness is simply an awesome movie that's a great way to wrap up the Evil Dead trilogy and will no doubt provide Horror fans and moviegoers alike loads of fun and entertainment. Buy all three movies, Evil Dead is one of the greatest movie trilogies ever and is right up there with Star Wars!

Summary: Much better than Evil Dead II
Review: Although still quite stupid and completely wacky and crazy. Bruce Campbell is eccentric and totally over the top as Ash and this movie is basically a one-man-show. We are treated to scene after scene of Ash banging his head, falling over, getting beaten up, banging his head etc. This poor guy never stops hurting himself, how does he put up with it.

But at least he finds love in this movie with Sheila (Embeth Davidtz) so his mind is taken off the death (and possesion) of Linda in first Evil Dead. Hailed as a hero by the 14th century mortals we can like Ash a lot more than we did before. He is still a clumsy oaf but you just love him. Clumsy oafs can sometimes be much more appealing than muscle-bound killing machines.

This new DVD is the Directors Cut and features a dull cover art and a lame insert card but it doesn't matter because it's an "Official Bootleg Edition" so it kind of fits. There is a Commentary (the same one that was on the Limited Edition), storyboards and deleted scenes. So this is still worth the money to the fans.

But be warned, the added footage is of workprint quality with very poor blacks, massive grain and sub-VHS colors and it really marrs the pleasing quality of the rest of the movie. Anchor Bay should have tried to correct this somehow.

The DVD is in Dolby 2.0 surround and is windowboxed at 1.66:1 in anamorphic.

Summary: Good, bad, I'm the guy with the gun.
Review: I've seen this movie at least eight times and I still laugh every time I see it. It is not a typical horror movie, in fact when I first rented it I found it in the comedy section of the movie rental store. Bruce Cambell plays a great badass 20th century guy in the past with an atitude. Such lines as, " This is my boomstick!, and Are all men from the future loud mouth baggards? No, just me." make this movie a kick.

Summary: Bootleg Edition?
Review: Ok, for those who are wondering, this "bootleg" edition is simply the Director's Cut version without the Limited Edition numbers on it. Don't worry, it's not an illegal copy, more like an "Official Bootleg". It was done so that fans who missed out on the Limted Edition can still get the DVD and all the extra goodies. I for one am glad they did so because I happened to miss out on it myself. The cover is done as if someone made an illegal copie and used a brown paper back to cover up the liner. It has handwriting-like text on it in what appears to be a few notes from Bruce "Don't call me Ash" Campbell. The actual DVD inside is done up like a DVD-R (Not Really Recordable) and is very humorous. It contains the exact same movie and features of the LE in the exact same quality. The commentary from Sam, Bruce, and Ivan is hilarious as was their commentary from the other Evil Dead DVDs. That in combination with the deleted scenes and the original ending make this a must have for those who want the whole story. This is the version of the movie that was originally done before they were forced to shorten it to 81 minutes and alter the ending. So if you missed out on the Limited Edition DVD then this is for you. This is definatly one for the fans out there.
