Summary: Maybe I don't wear enough black...
Review: But I just don't get it. Some would say The Doom Generation "doesn't just force us to examine the evils of modern society, it shoves them right in our face." Some also believe in the theory of Antlantis, doesn't make it fact. Many movie directors/producers try to cure the plague of a thin plot by drowning their movies in scenes and sequences meant to distract the audience from noticing banal, or formulaic scripts (this is commonly referred to as "eye candy"). (...)Another old movie trick meant to distract those with low attention spans is the use of running jokes, or hooks (i.e. the recurrent $6.66 charges, and the string of jilted ex-boyfriends). Gather a gang of adolescent boys from a quake arena, and tell them to collaborate on a movie script, and you will end up with this movie or something very similar. The only good thing I can say about this film is that maybe the movies statements on modern society have some redeeming value (if you didn't realize the world was a violent, scary place before seeing this film). Summary: Dooming Provocation
Review: The reason why I entitled this review " Dooming Provocation " is because for any one of us who has an inquiring
mind and has a thirst for the underlying messages to a movie that
has content beyond enigmatic or defies explanation for that matter, we are doomed to be provoked to think about it. Oh sure,
at first you think, " what the hell is the point to this movie?!", which is then followed by a " Why does there have to be a point? ", and then it leaves you meditating like a Buddhist.

Summary: Dark, Sexy, Violent..........a mind blowing trip!!
Review: What a trip!! Rose Mcgowan is such a great actress - her present in movies is such a credit. Her dark, seductive character keeps the danger going the entire way through. And James Duval as the troubled and caring boyfriend who experiments and discovers throughout the film. The non stop thrills - violence, sex and death make this movie entertainment heaven from beginning to end. Meeting the dark and sexy Xavier turns their whole night into a never ending spiral of adrenalin. Totally recommended!

Summary: either you love it or you hate it
Review: There is a lot to like or hate about it, depending on who you are. It had a lot less, well, plot than I like to see, even in existential-type stories. The pointless murders and sex became tiresome, and the whole proceeding dragged on far too long. But on the positive side, at least it wasn't some formulaic kind of flick where everything is predictable and you've seen variations on that formula a million times. Also, the self-centered foulmouthed wench was just a great character, and before they become rote, the weirdness of the murders and sexcapades is quite appealing. So I guess I lied- at least one person (me) neither loves nor hates this movie.

Summary: More than five stars, this is my favorite movie
Review: Is it the best movie ever made? No way. But I love this one, the little movie that could. Could flip you out, that is! Sorry, that was pretty dorky. Okay, when I was sixteen, I wrote a script and storyboard about a guy who went car shopping and got "really violently abused" by a car salesman. Some of my friends and I then "made" this movie with an old 8mm camera, some Playdough, colored gell, and gasoline. Use your imagination. Anyway, The Doom Generation lies on a spectrum somewhere between that 8mm movie and Natural Born Killers. If you think Rose McGowan (Jawbreaker, Lewis & Clark & George, etc., and soon-to-be a Charmed One) is your personal god's gift to the world, you will love this movie, plain and simple. She (and some cheesy stuff) is, in my opinion, this film. That's good enough for me. If you want depth, social commentary, realistic effects, whatever, forget it. This movie is honest (I don't even know what I mean by that, I guess that it's so bad that it's good?). It's low budget. Some celebrities show up in funny situations - Heidi Fleiss as a convenience store clerk, Peter from the Brady Bunch reporting news on a bloody murder-suicide, Parker Posey in a bad wig carrying a sword, Margaret Cho screaming with a machete. If you're curious about this movie for some strange reason but don't know what to do about it, rent it (probably the R-rated version) at your local video store for a couple of bucks. If you hate it, forget it, go on with your life. If you love it, buy the unrated director's cut (with all the gore and sex that the censors wouldn't allow into the R-version) and you'll be thrilled.

Summary: This is a movie?
Review: ..is the opening line said by Rose McGowan in a less than stellar performance. Simply reading the jacket of the movie might clue you in as to how lame a movie this is. "This movie is about a hot chick and her loser boyfriend that starts out at a nightclub where they play techno music..." It seems as if an excited 13 year old directed "the doom generation" throwing in as much grotesque ..profanity, and very cheezy scenes of violence as he can. Perhaps the only redeeming features... probably intended to be so... are that you get to see Rose McGowans [body], theres a funny line about the ..chute, and the soundtrack is appealing. Skinny Puppy makes a cameo appearance, which nobody could possibly know without reading the ending credits. If anyone likes this movie, BSing about how deep it is and Araki throws in signs about doom and the apocalypse and such... get a life. This isn't a cult classic, this movie just [is bad].

Summary: Gotta Love it
Review: Aw the movie was great, very fun film to show to some friends who are a little stuffy. Just love watching people scream and cover their eyes because of a movie. If you dont like this movie, maybe Titanic is more your style. It's fun, its dark, its hilarious, enjoy it people.

Summary: "clueless on crack"
Review: ..."The Doom Generation" is another postmodern, Generation X, 'teen angst' road flick that thinks it's so cool cuz it's got Skinny Puppy and Nine Inch Nails in the soundtrack. [Director] Araki's own description: "I wanted the world of the film to be as far out and surreal as possible, like a bad drug trip." Yeah, whatever, dude.... The plot (what there is of it) tells the unoriginal tale of Amy 'Blue' (Rose McGowan), her boyfriend Jordan 'White' (James Duval), and some guy they pick up called Xavier 'Red' (Johnathon Schaech) -- (Did ya catch on to that ultra-clever color motif?) Altogether, these three embark on a nonsensical spree of sex, killing/mangling people, and then eating...and then repeating the cycle four or five times. *YAWN* Along the way, Amy uses a wider variety of vulgar insults than I'd ever conceived of. Jordan pretty much just stands around, with Duval perfectly cast in the part of an idiot zombie that makes you cringe just to look at him. And I'm guessing Araki's "666," skull & crossbones, and Apocalypse references are supposed to indicate that Xavier's the devil. Oooooh, scary!! If that was supposed to be a social or cultural statement, please pinch me. HA!

Summary: the DOOM generation
Review: "the DOOM generation" tells the story of two teenage lovers, Amy and Jordan, who pick up a tough guy rebel named Xavier, one night while they are cruising the late-night rave clubs. From there on, Xavier involves Amy and Jordan in a wild murder spree that catches the attention of the media, and a kinky ... affair that threatens to tear Amy and Jordan apart or bring them closer than they want to be to Xavier. This is a film that you will either love or hate, but I have to say I loved it. The reason I ever saw this movie in the first place was because of Rose McGowan (the girl who plays Amy), and she is so hot...Get the Unrated Director's Cut on DVD, it's the only way to view this future cult classic!
